  1. Ok, I have been banded for 11 months and have been feeling really yucky lately. I have a constant dull ache and occasional stronger pain. Wouldn't really call it a sharp pain. It is an all over pain. My appetite has been non existant. Before I could eat pretty normal portions. Now my band feels really tight. I am eating about 1/2 of what I had been. I am uncomfortable sitting with my tighter jeans on. I was going to call the Dr. today but I waited too long and the office was closed, so I will have to wait another day. This has been going on for about 5 days. Not sure if it is a flu bug or something with the band. This happen to anyone else? I'm not vomiting, but have some diarrhea (sorry!).

8 Month Anniversary, How's everyone doing?

I'm down about 30 lbs. I can eat pretty much anything. I have to get back on track after the holidays. I have put back on about 5 pounds-not good. I am craving sweets terrible lately. I think that all the holiday sweets have brought back old habits. Thinking about doing pre-op diet for a week to get sugar cravings under control and maybe lose those 5 pounds. Keep up the good work everyone!

  5. I don't count calories. I eat what I want and listen to my body when I feel full. So far it seems to be working -slowly, but working. I do follow the band rules tho' (most of the time). My doctor strongly discourages calorie counting-says I've been doing it for years and that's not how healthy people eat. The band is suppose to reteach me how to listen to body signals as to when I am full.

    OK Ladies....update time

I was banded on 3/19 and am down about 25 pounds. I see the dr. tomorrow and am not sure if I need a fill or not. I am not really losing much. I have lost about 3 pounds in the last 8 weeks. I feel like I am eating constantly some days and other days I feel really tight. Not sure what to do or if he will even let me get a fill. Kind of frustrating...

    Very Frustrated....Help!

I forgot to mention my fills. I had 5 cc's put in during surgery, 1 cc at first fill. I feel like I am close to my sweet spot and if I had more put in I would be miserable. My doc says 6-7 is average for the type of band I have (I think it is 10 cc).

    Very Frustrated....Help!

I totally understand. I was banded 3/19/09 and have lost 20 pounds-15 from the preop diet. I lost 5 in the last 5 weeks when I went to the doctor on Monday. I was discouraged going in, especially after waiting for 1/2 hour in the waiting room with bypass pass patients who have lost 40 pounds in 6 weeks. One of the ladies was also very tired and weak and could barely make it through her day. She was telling my she had vitamin deficiencies. When I saw the doctor he was so happy with the results, that I couldn't help but feel better. He also discourages dieting and calorie counting. That hasn't helped in the past. Follow the band rules and listen to your body when you are full. That gave me enough motivation to keep working at it. Just remember you aren't the only one. It's sometimes hard to read all the big losses from other posters. It's good to hear from those who are maybe more typical losing 1-2 pounds per week.

    too tight or just right?!?

I was banded on 3/19 and have had one fill. I had 5cc's put in during surgery and 1cc at my fill. My doctor and I both feel that I am at a good spot. I am losing about a pound week. At times I feel that is slow, but is to be expected. If I follow the band rules and eat my protein first, I can't eat as much and feel good restriction. I have never vomited, but feel the pain in my chest when I eat too much. I can't eat bread and chicken can take a while to eat. I can't imagine feeling that pain everytime I ate. How horrible! It sounds to me like you might need a slight unfill. Good luck!

    Can everyone PLEASE post

I was banded on 3/19 and have lost a total of 13 pounds so far. Most of it was on the preop diet. I got my first fill on 5/12 and now have a total of 6cc's in my band.

    no drinking after meals

I love Lipton diet green tea and white tea. I was a big diet coke drinker, but don't miss it since surgery.

    March 19 yay!!!!!!!

I've lost about 20 and am also stuck at that number. I actually think I gained a few pounds when I added more foods. I don't get a fill until May. I just keep telling myself that it will come eventually.

    March 19 yay!!!!!!!

I had my surgery last Thursday and am doing great also. I have very little pain and seem to be almost back to "normal". I am very hungry tho' and can't wait to see my doctor tomorrow. He had originally told me 2 weeks of liquids, but I am hoping that I can be upgraded to pureed food also. I am not sure if I lost any weight or not. My scale seems to go up an down. Guess I will find out tomorrow. Glad to hear that you're doing so well. I can't wait to put this band to use:)

    Nectar Proteins

I am in the same boat as you! I have a ton of Unjury that I can't stand. The only thing I can choke down is Slimfast low carb and the high protein. I also find that the Kellogg's protein water isn't bad. Not as much protein tho'. Good luck!
  15. Anyone else loose little to no weight on their preop diet? I feel like I have been do really good with nothing to show. I am afraid that my doc isn't going to believe that I did it! My surgery is in two days.

    March 19 yay!!!!!!!

Sounds like what I will be doing. Can't wait to see how your first day goes. I'm actually looking forward to it. It's a step closer. I may think differently this time tomorrow:)
  17. My doctor said just shakes. I am not sure how well I'll do with that. I will see how tomorrow goes:)

WLS card when going to restaurants?

I'm scheduled to have the lap band in a little over a week. I was given one of those cards. I haven't used it, but definately plan to.

    March 19 yay!!!!!!!

My surgery is also scheduled for March 19th. I can't beleive it is finally going to happen! I haven't started my preop diet yet. I only have to do it for a week before. My lab work came back with elevated white blood cell count. Not sure what is going to happen with that. Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday things will get worked out.

    Last Supper Syndrome

I totally feel the same way. I have a surgery date of March 19th and feel that I want to eat everything in sight. In fact I am contemplating running out for a Blizzard...
  24. Could someone please tell me why insurance companies require a medically supervised diet? What are they looking for? Isn't it enough that years of trying everything in the book to lose weight didn't help? Thanks for your replies:)
