  1. I was reading this and just stopped and ran up and gave my husband a huge hug. He is so supportive of me and the surgery. He knows this isn't the easy way out but he said "wouldn't you want your girlfriend or wife to have it easy" and he is right. I know this isn't easy and you had a lot of issues afterwards. But if it were easy, I would wish that on you. I hope you have left this guy and moved on. If not, I hope he has come to terms with your weight loss.

  2. I started a little higher. At the beginning of my journey, I weighed 463. My surgery was August 25 2021 and I weighed 430. I'm 5 weeks and 3 days post op and I weigh 382. I have lost a total of 81 pounds since May 2021, 47 of that is post op. I feel bad talking about my weight with people who start much lower. I have seen comments where they are so defeated because they haven't lost like I have. I wish there were support groups for each weight loss group.

  3. Very common to be experiencing a lack of energy & general lethargy from a combination of the surgery, healing & reduced caloric intake. We all heal & recover differently - just who we are - but if your body is saying rest you need to listen to it.
I say enjoy those nana naps while you can.
    Congrats on your surgery.
Thank you :) I'm going to give it a couple more weeks. I don't go anywhere so I can deal and try to get in better foods. I know I need to push liquids more. I'm not dehydrated but it wouldn't hurt.

  4. Same here...I am so drained in the morning. It us not quite so bad since I started on soft foods yesterday, but my doctor told me I should be walking 30 minutes a day. I can barely make it around the yard once before having to sit for a while. I hope this will pass soon.
I hope it does too. Right now I'm stalled with my weight because I'm not burning off enough calories. I wish talking burned calories, I would be so skinny.

  5. I was wondering about this too. I had my surgery on 9/3. The doctor also told me to walk 30 minutes a day and I have to rest after a shower. It’s so frustrating.
Right! I hate that a shower tires me out. I want to enjoy it but most of the time I'm thinking about sitting down.

  6. I am right there with you. I have no problem with walking but I have been cleared to use elliptical at gym and after 15 minutes I’m done. And don’t get me started about climbing stairs. I see a few more naps in my future.
I know I have to try to push through this but I figured it took a while to get on the weight it will take a while to get rid of it. Naps are my life now.

  7. Did you drink coffee before and stop for the surgery? I haven’t had surgery yet, but I know lack of coffee makes me tired. I’m going to start weaning myself off coffee about 3 weeks prior to surgery.

No, I stopped coffee about 3 months prior to my surgery. I just wanted to be prepared earlier. I think it is lack of calories. I'm trying to up those but it is so hard.

  8. Not that uncommon actually. My first bm after surgery was all liquid. Literally just ran out of me when I was walking (thankfully to go to the bathroom).. Whoosh! ! There was no warning & no clenching was going to stop it. A friend continued to have break through liquid bms (even when passing wind so be careful). Her surgeon actually suggested before her surgery that she purchase disposable knickers - very good buy.

Oh no, I have been close to that happening!! My new model is, don't trust a fart. I have become very close with my bathroom. I straighten up stuff, while waiting for this to pass. I'm just going to roll with it.

  9. most people have the opposite problem (constipation), but this isn't the first time I've heard about diarrhea. I wonder if you've developed an intolerance to something. It's not uncommon to become lactose intolerant after surgery - although for some it's temporary.

That's what I thought. I was surprised when it first happened, because I was totally prepared for Constipation. I thought about lactose, so I started taking a lactose pill before I ate, still happened. Then I went 2 full days without any dairy, still happened. It's just weird.

  10. When I was younger, I could eat anything and never gain weight. I haven't always been big. I tried all ways to lose weight. 5 years ago, I watched what I ate and exercised. I got down to 310. I was on what some people would call the " broke" diet. I lost a lot of weight because I wasn't eating right. As soon as I got a better job, I started eating more, not better. I gained 90 pounds. Then the pandemic happened and I was sent home to work. I gained 60 pounds in a year and couldn't lose it.

Every doctor I ever had told me I couldn't get the surgery, due to health reasons. Finally I get a PCP this year that suggested it to me. That was in April 2021. I got a referral in a week, went to a seminar and scheduled my first surgeon appointment in May 2021. I fully expected to be told no but the surgeon said I was a good candidate and started the ball rolling.

I have great insurance and didn't need a lot of requirements. Just proof I tried to lose weight supervised, which I had been seeing a nutritionist. Upper endoscopy, psych eval, dietitian appointment, and blood work. I had all that done by July 2021 and got scheduled for surgery August 25, 2021.

I am less then 2 weeks post op and already feel better. More energy, not thinking about food all the time, saving money from not eating out.

    My stats are 40 F, 5'10", HW 463 SW 430 CW 410 GW 200
