  1. Hi Friends,

I'm 8 months post RNY. SW 308 lbs, CW 213 lbs. Height 159 cm.

I was on a steady losing path until Jan this year due to my walking (10k) daily.
However, we had a bad family fight in Jan which has led to me being depressed and lethargic. I've kinda stalled since then and there has been zero progress.

I'm scared I'm throwing all this away and fearful since I'm overeating and not losing.

Any advice on how to kickstart my weight loss again please. My goal weight is 150 lbs and I really want to do this for my kids.

    Please help me :(

  4. Thank you for your feedback.

My problem is that I'm unable to get back on track. Most of my eating happens to be just because I like the taste of the food and not because I'm actually hungry.

I feel like I'm in a downward spiral out of control.

How do you guys cope with something like this. How do you get back on track. How do you improve your life :(

  5. Hi Peeps,

I had my Gastric bypass (RnY) on Aug 17. My stats are as follows.

    SW: 302 lbs

    Height: 169 cm.

    CW: 227 lbs.

    Total lost: 75 lbs

    Exercise: Walking 10km daily

However, I'm feeling I'm not losing fast enough. Plus I've fallen off track with the festival season...been gorging on sweets, cakes and food.

Just lost 8 pounds since November 15th.

I'm worried that I'm going to ruin this. Any tips on how to lose faster as well as break this food addiction...can't seem to stop eating and feeling guilty after.

Would really appreciate the help. Please help guys!

    Thank you.

Have I misunderstood? You've lost 56lb in about two months or just a little under that?

I think what you've lost is great. Some professionals or those who deem themselves to be seem to set some unrealistic expectations.

Were you happy with your weight loss up to the point in time your dietician told you otherwise?

10kms a day is quite a lot. I assume you are followng your post op guidelines for calories, volumes of food, types of food etc? Protein intake? liquid intake? And hopefully consuming sufficient to sustain 10kms a day.

If so and your are averaging a reasonable weight loss you are doing great.

Editied to add: You mention you stopped losing weight? How long since you've lost some weight on the scale?

Stalls are not uncommon, most of everyone who has WLS has a stall or more than one, even in the first few weeks.

    Thanks for your support.

Yes, I've lost 56lbs over the last 7.5 weeks.

I was happy until the dietitian mentioned otherwise. :(.

I don't really have much in terms of guidelines on volume of food etc., ,other than consuming 60g of Protein via shakes and about 1.5-2 ltrs of Water. Would you be able to help with any guuidelines on how much food etc I should be consuming.

another problem is that I'm mostly taking liquids since I'm unable to hold down eggs, chicken etc and throw up the same frequently. I'm able to tolerate lentils and vegetables curries so managing with but feeling I'm all over the place due to lack of guidance.

  10. Thanks a ton for the detailed and informative post. You're a great help and inspiration to newbies like me.

A few more questions to pick your brain a bit.

    1. How much did you lose during the liquids only phase.

    2. What phase in your opinion contributes to the max weight loss.

    3. Did you experience brain fog and general weakness post surgery. How many days did it last.

    4. Any more advice for me 😁

  11. My two cents for what it's worth.

Sounds more like insecurity on the Hubs end. If he's normally supportive in other things maybe this stems from insecurity especially if he's obese too.

If you still have time have him go to a marriage counselor with you esp if your doc suggests one.

This will help him get over his fear that may be causing this behaviour.

Try selling it to him as advantageous to him...a fitter wife who'll be able to help him more.

    Keeping you in prayer 🙏

It should pass once you’re on more solid foods. It can be from the liquid diet & also from the surgery. Try wearing some disposal knickers or incontinent pants. My friend’s surgeon suggested it before her surgery & she said they were a saviour especially when she had ‘poopy farts’. I wish I knew about doing it - save me tossing knickers when a had a completely unexpected, no warning diarrhoea attack in hospital. It was the worst - took two steps & gush! 😱

As with all things if it does persist give your medical team a call.

Thank you so much. You've no idea how relieved this made me feel 😂

  13. Hi Peeps,

    40m here.

I'm 7 days post op and got my bowels moving about 2 days back.
However , after passing motion, I'm noticing a brownish rectal discharge staining my underwear.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this and whether this resolves on its own or is something to be concerned about.

It's a bit embarassing especially if I'm wearing light coloured clothing. Please help !!!
