  1. Mine was August 23rd. I lost 100lbs and feeling so much better.

Still have a little gut, but doctor said it is mostly skin. I’ve been using a virtual training app called Future. It’s been great. Haven’t been doing much cardio lately though. I want to get back to jogging. I am not trying to lose more weight I just want to stay healthy and tone up now.

I don’t know if I’m posting this in the correct spot. Surgery aug 16th I’ve lost only 7lbs in almost 4 weeks. Preop diet I lost 14 lbs in 3 weeks. I’m following diet to the letter. I’m walking 30 min almost every day. Has this happened to anyone else. I’m starting to worry that it didn’t work… surgeon says it’s fine. Only problem is I can’t seem to get all the Water in consistently. Could that be it?

Not sure exactly, but my doctor says you can’t worry about wait loss in the first 6 weeks since your body is still healing. I lost 10the first week and then just stalled for two weeks after. I also head some things about too much exercise too soon isn’t good since it could slow down the metabolism and make you more hungry. Not sure on this stuff so you probably want to check back with your doctors or due some more research. I’m just saying I don’t think it is anything to worry about and give yourself time to heal.

  3. Week 3 for me and just getting back to work.

I thought I was doing well with energy levels and recovery, but I had to take more breaks than usual (so it was a longer day to try and get get hours in) and couldn’t work the full day the first two days and yesterday that really got to me. I ended up getting a lot of stress and anxiety for not doing enough. I’m up at 4am to try and catch up.

I’ve only had one other surgery before and I don’t take long vacations so this is really tough for me to have been away for two weeks and still not feel completely recovered.

  4. So I learned what it’s like to not get enough intake (liquids and protein).

I felt pain, but otherwise normal the first week. I haven’t felt that lightheaded week feeling, until the last two days that is.

This week I took some naps and slacked a bit on intake. I didn’t even total my numbers until the end of the day yesterday and I realized I dropped to less than 30g Protein and I also very low liquids. That was why I couldn’t concentrate and felt so light headed and week. Also super low blood pressure. To make matters worse I usually have high blood pressure and I was still taking the meds to lower my blood pressure.

I pushed to increase my intake this morning. Still no more than 4oz just making sure I get it every hour.

I feel so much better and my blood pressure is better. I still feel light headed if I stand up, but not as bad as before.

So just a reminder to everyone you really have to treat the intake like it’s a job. We can’t take in that much so we need to not miss any eating times. Initially that is every hour. When it can get more spaced out I’ll make sure to have alarms set. That wasn’t a good feeling, but glad I know better now.

  5. Day 10 (Phase 2 Food)

Had some puréed carrots yesterday with no problems. Tried a scrambled egg today. It went okay, but took a long time to eat. I paid close attention to the digestion feeling in my stomach. Almost like a gurgle but not quite. It didn’t feel overly fool and didn’t seem to push back up so I just kept going slowly until done with a break when ever there was that gurgle feeling.

Finally not feeling pain on the bottom right.

I’m supposed to be able to do 6oz of liquid per hour now, but I couldn’t do it. I had about 5oz and felt so full I had to stop there and have been staying at 4oz for now.

  6. I haven’t been keeping up on this thread last day or two.

    Surgery on 8/23.

So I lost about 10 pounds I think some had lost more and some have lost less, but I know it’s very individual. I’m really happy with that amount.

I’m still having pain on the bottom right of my stomach. Doctor said it was normal. He was concerned about not going to the bathroom so had to step up measure there unfortunately.

I haven’t had any issues with 4oz an hour of liquids and Proteins. I am thinking of moving up to soft foods since I am doing okay and it’s on the two week schedule.

I haven’t started Vitamins yet, might try a Gummy one this week.

I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos from 2 doctors and or patient l. I’ll follow up later with the names. They’ve been helping me less stressed. Although my best advantage is having an awesome wife who has been super on top of foods and meds for me. She has really been amazing.

Hope everyone is doing well with their recovery. I’m glad we are in this together.

  7. Shelly, so about a week on pain meds?

I was hoping just a few days, but that makes sense. I read somewhere it is 2-3 weeks for incisions to heal and 6-8 weeks for the staple line to heal.

I gave myself two weeks of recovery and plan to go back to work after that. I have a desk job and work from home so I am hoping it won’t be too tough.

I’m really on top of liquids, Proteins, and walks. I think that will help. Taking about 4oz and hour.

Feeling okay after morning pain meds.

  8. I’m going to try to keep up with this “August 2021 Peeps” thread. I find these messages helpful and it’s feels like all of us are going through this together.

Elizabeth: luckily I haven’t had too much trouble with the Protein Shakes. I’m just not sure how I am supposed to handle drinking all of it. I have trouble drinking more than 4oz and hour. For clear and lighter Protein I also have the clear Premier Protein. The peach flavor is okay. I didn’t like the fruit punch one because it taste like grapefruit. I bout the sampler of Premier Protein so I have some options.

  9. What type of pain meds does everyone use and how long does the pain last?

They told me 2nd and 3rd day are the worst. I’m on the third day. Yesterday definitely wasn’t as bad as the first day. It hurts like an hour before my scheduled pain killer, but other than that it is bearable. I do hope that tomorrow is easier. I finally started passing gas.

I’m taking tramadol and gabapentin every 6 hours. Both are pills I have to crush. I head liquid Percocet is more common, but my doctor said that is more likely to cause Constipation than the ones I got.

    Hey mama bear,

My surgery is tomorrow morning as well. I have so many worries and am worried about my kids. I just keep hearing the saying in my head that if god brought me to it, he will bring me through it. That is helping me to build my courage and get through this. It will all be okay.

I’m going into my surgery tomorrow morning. I am usually calm, but this does have my anxieties up. My calmness might be having stressed early or maybe I’m just trying to be positive and fooling myself that I am not as worried about tomorrow. Either way I feel comfort reading the message above “If God brought me to it, he will bring me through it.” I’ve never heard that before. It makes me feel better. Thank you.
