I hope so too - for your sake. I was just about to start my pre-preop diet today. Really start to get down to it a little ahead of when I was supposed to start on the 20th when I got the call. We're leaving for a 10 day vacation tomorrow though, so all is not lost. I can eat real food now.

WOW! Good Job!! 18lbs!!! I hope you have the same luck this time. . and so smart of you to do that. I, on the other hand, have not been as disciplined. I've been focusing on cutting out the caffeine and this week, cutting out the sugar.

We're bypass buddies! Mine is the same day. When do you start your pre-op diet? Mine starts on December 20th - and I am nervous about it because I will be traveling and in Florida for most of it.

Oh good! Glad to hear. I did some searches after I asked and saw that most people are able to lie flat after the first week out or so. Sitting in a recliner for too long is making me sore already!

My team at the VA told us to use a suppository for constipation. It's less harmful to your system - and more focused on the immediate blockage.

I like Optimum Nutrition Chocolate flavor. My Dietician approved it but she also sent me Procell

Such a wonderful journey you have been on! Thank you for sharing your progress with us in the monthly manner you did, it really helps us to see what is possible. I love that you got into exercise right away, I know that has made a huge impact on your current body composition and overall health, BRAVO!

HI Shoppgirl! Yes, my surgeon basically said the same thing.. She said I will never tell you that you cannot ever have something/anything again. I felt that was quite a relief. And I wish I wasn't on this road of self-sabotage. I am refocusing my energies this week in an attempt to re-lose these 10 lbs. that I keep yo-yoing on. Ugh!! Why do we do this to ourselves? According to your weights, it looks like you are doing great! I do know what you mean by being at goal already if you hadn't acted up at the beginning - it's so hard not to though!!

Love this thread! I'm getting excited for my procedure in January I cannot wait. My stomach is sick to death from overeating. I had been doing so great on my diet this summer and now that I'm closer to my date - all I want to do is "eat all the junk that I won't be able to eat later on". Stupid logic.

It really stinks when you can't lean on one of your foundational support people. Sorry you're dealing with this.

I work out like an animal and it just makes me more hungry. Keep that in mind. Weight is lost in the kitchen, unfortunately. But I will say that because of the exercise, I'm not gaining.

Ignore this doctor. Go through with the surgery. You'll figure it out.

I think its a really interesting topic - to share or not to share. This is all about me and no one else. Thankfully everyone important to me is on board and fully supportive of my decision to go forward with this. My brother (who is overweight) is the only one who said something bratty so far, he said "well that's drastic". I just do not need that from anyone. I decide what is drastic, this isn't drastic to me - it's imperative! I was hoping it would open the idea to him doing something similar in the future but apparently he's fine. I definitely do not need society's input. No thank you! haha Congrats to you for putting yourself first!! When is your surgery date?
