I was going to suggest the protein water as well. Also, the protein doesn't have to be made with as much water - making a roux type consistency to just get that down and then focus on the water. Whatever works though! I'm still pre-op...

    January 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hi! Unfortunately, my surgery was cancelled due to COVID. It's currently rescheduled for March 8th.

It took them 3 weeks to give me a new date - so hang in there!

Yep, join the club! We'll get there soon enough. It sucks though, I know. Mine is now March 8th. What is your new date?

Hang in there! My doctor's office didn't call me back to reschedule until 3 weeks after they notified me of the cancellation.
  7. It's their overdramatic way to show you that they love you. It is control though. Ultimately, as I'm sure everyone has said, it is your life and the decision is purely your own and you can do it! You're going to rock this procedure and process and come out a new YOU on the other side - if you do the work. All the work. There is a lot of work. You can do it. It's yours. Good luck!

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

That's cool. I'd love to lose 30 lbs in each leg alone. I also have acid reflux that I'm hoping goes away. Hopefully the Omicron curve will drop by then and it will happen. If not I'm trying to be pregnant anytime - before or after, but if it's after then not like right away. That's why I'm doing it and I want to be my bad ass self again.
  9. Just got my new date (rescheduled from Jan 4 due to COVID hospitalizations), it's now March 8th. I'm so ready! Let's get this show on the road!! I've recently stared reading and following the Pound of Cure book/diet. I hope to lose at least another 10 lbs. before surgery.
  10. Hi Athena, I can somewhat relate to what you're experiencing. When I was in my early 20's I weighed 346lbs and then through just diet and exercise I lost 180lbs, joined the Air Force, and lived an amazing life - until I got married, retired from the AF and lost a baby all in the same year. I have since gained a ton of weight back - so here I am on this forum, waiting for my RNY surgery in March. But if you notice, I did find love. Actually, I was a ho for a while before I found my needle in the haystack. I can relate with your experience. Don't rush it. I don't know your age, but I was 36 when I got married. I met my husband in Afghanistan, on deployment. He did not fit the 'type' of guy I had envisioned myself meeting and falling in love with. I am 5'11, he is 5'8. He is from Afghanistan, I am not. I had to get over myself and my expectations of what I thought love would look like before actually allowing this relationship to work - and it does. He loved me and all my scars and he still loved me with all this weight. Real love doesn't know a number on the scale and will support you no matter the obstacle.
  11. yes, when I mentioned my edible use to my surgeon she did not have any problem with them at all. I would just make sure you chew them up really good and maybe let them dissolve a bit in your mouth before swallowing. They also have a THC honey that I love - I plan to have all of my options available during the healing process. Just hopefully no munchies! I haven't had my surgery yet but this is my experience so far. Good luck!

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

Oh girl, I already know I'm going to be in trouble in that regard, too. I definitely do not chew my food enough as it is, so that will be a challenge for me. You have offered great advice, thank you! Good job measuring your foods and not relying on the restriction to hit.

Thanks for the support! Congratulations on your successful journey!! What are some 'lessons' you have learned throughout this past year? Were some things harder than others? What did you find easy?

    Waiting to go down

Hi, congrats on your surgery! This is kind of a random question, but did you have any visitors with you? Were they allowed in the room with you after? How did that work?

    January 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hello! Unfortunately, my surgery has been cancelled until further notice (due to COVID). I have been reading and following the Pound of Cure book/eating plan; however, and I feel really great as a result of that. So I'm doing my part to lose what I can while I wait. I wish I was on your level right now - but I'll get there, soon enough!

    Treadmill recommendations

I purchased a Pro-form Elliptical ( I know, not a treadmill) that I am happy with. They are the generic version of NordicTrack.

Thanks! Me too. She told me that they already had canceled all of December surgeries - and there were only 4 for that month. So I am 5th in line. They are only canceling the first 2 weeks of Jan for now.. but who knows. Ugh Cue the emotional eating in retaliation of this news.

Buckle up... It's not looking good.
  23. My Jan 4th RNY procedure was just canceled due to the nonvaccinated idiots taking up all the beds at all the hospitals. This is extremely frustrating! I am 38 years old and I lost my only child in 2020. I am partially doing this for fertility reasons and each delay just prolongs our ability to keep trying.
