Day 1 of my two week liquid diet and they said no coffee… I have a headache and am shaking. Why no caffeine?

Of all the restrictions, I think coffee is the most onerous for me. Mostly because I don't understand it. I have searched the internet far and wide and do not understand why. I probably have more coffee in my blood than blood cells so it is going to be difficult. for me.

I know several people who have had the surgery and they all differed. Depending on how you can tolerate the surgery there is no reason why you cannot get into the classroom. As long as you are not going to have to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time and are able to stand/sit alternatively you should be fine. Your Doctor of course can give better advice but mine told me I could go to work whenever I felt up to it.

In the beginning it was hard for me too. I had my surgery July 15. I found taking very small sips from a shot glass worked best or taking warm drinks from a Cappuccino cup worked for me. I drank Protein Water to do double duty. And if those tricks didn't work, I grabbed sugar free popsicles and tried to suck on a few of those an hour. Mine were 1.5 ounces each so four of those an hour gave me six ounces of hydration

This is such great advice. I think you have to mix it up to be able to meet these goals. I saw one post on another forum where it was recommended to use a baby sippy cup for Water to help how much you drink at one time. I think once we find what works individually for each of us it will make the task a little easier. Who knew that I would be stressing being able to drink 8 ounces of water in a whole hour!!!!

Yep!! Same happened to me as well!! After the 3rd week it picked back up. Try not to look at the scale!!

I think that is good advice but such a hard thing to do for most of us. Very good advice though....I am going to try to only check the scale once a week or less after surgery.

So I think I am stalled now but just realized I have lost 50 pounds including what I lost pre op. I was a little discouraged with the stall but I never could have lost 50 pounds by myself.

Congrats. There is a lot of information on the internet and on youtube on how to break a stall. I have not had the surgery yet but will use that as a resource when the time comes. Good luck and congrats.

  6. Surgery on 8/31. Getting a jump start on the diet so I can minimize any complications and make sure I get a good surgery. Down 9 pounds in 5 days. Worried I may lose too much to keep my insurance approval. Have 3 weeks to go. The diet is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I am not feeling really hungry at all but I am only on it 5 days so far.
