My surgery was August 10th, and I’m on blended foods right now so I know what you mean. I feel like I crave food even though I’m not hungry. I am a week away from soft chopped and I am so excited. The ricotta bake did help me feel like I was eating more normal foods. Puréed Soups from Panera also helped. They say the head hunger gets better, and I hope so!! I think we’re in a weird stage where we can’t eat what we want, and we don’t see significant weight loss yet so we feel kind of stuck. You’ll do great, we just have to give it time! 🤞

I am surprised you could eat a "riccotta bake" . I imagine that is pretty high in fat and calories. From my calorie intake I would not be able to eat anything else all day. I find that I have to plan my whole day out so I can have food spread out evenly with my 800 calories.

Week 12 and I dropped 4lbs - the most I have in a single week since the initial week 😮 Only 2.8 away from onderland, and today my BMI is 30 - so this better be the last time I'm in the Obese category! I don't want to go here again.

I would like to reach 190 by the time I go on go on vacation at the end of September. This week's loss gives me hope that I can reach it.

Nice job. Looks like you are on track for the 190. Good luck.

Hello everyone. I'm new till this app but so far love what I'm seeing! I had gastric sleeve surgery on July 17th, just 1 month 3 days ago. My 1st two weeks was amazing regarding my weight loss! I lost 20 lbs! But after that I hit a platue that has lasted 2 weeks and I'd actually gained 2 lbs during that time. I got very discouraged because I was sticking to the recommended diet but couldn't get past the thought that maybe I was just someone who wasn't going to lose the weight. This past week though I began losing again, although it's been extremely slow and nothing compared to the 1st two weeks. I've lost 3 lbs in a week and a half. Although I'm eating right, I'll admit I'm not exercising. I'm sure that's a big part of it. I used to do yoga before gaining this 100 lbs a few years ago and tried the other day but still haven't lost enough weight for my mobility to be where it needs to be to do yoga without it hurting. So I guess for now I should start walking. I just hate this heat! So to avoid it I'll start getting up early in the morning, while it's still cool and before work. I will be honest though....the platue I experienced, and now this very slow weight loss has me very discouraged. At this point I figured I'd have lost enough for it to be dramatically noticeable to others, but that's just not the case.

Stick with it. I agree it is hard to get out there in the heat but even if you do 10 minutes 3 times a day it will help

  4. I think this is a question we all ask ourselves as well as the guilt in letting it get this far. Fact is, you are where you are and you cannot go backward. I would caution you to ensure you are taking care and getting help from a mental health professional as well. If you do not remove the root cause of your unhealthy behavior it will come right back.

I didn't mean the weight scale. I meant the BMI scale/chart. Nice to know it's not just me that feels that way.

Definitely not just you!!! It does get frustrating and demotivating but I guess you just have to deal with the reality of it. I think it is an insurance company scam to charge more in health insurance for "overweight" and "obese" people. Just my cynicism but whatever. I will just get to where I am comfortable and happy with my health/appearance and move on.

I am 5'6". I put my goal weight at 180. It says BMI would still be 29.1 and overweight. Normal should be 18.5 to 24.9. I don't want to be thin-thin. Just normal. This scale is almost fat-shaming. I'm not going by the BMI. I'll go by when I feel good about myself.

Funny how you call the scale fat shaming....it really is as well as the BMI system itself. I remember when I was a teenager weighing 180 pounds or so. I was by no means overweight, played sports addictively, could run 10 miles no problem, biked 30 miles. But...given today's BMI I would be overweight. The BMI doesn't really work for some people in my view. I have muscular calves and thighs, even with my heavier weight I stay pretty normal in the legs because I walk and bike so much. I do not see me ever getting into the "normal" BMI area given the charts and my body type.

  7. My fear is that I am going to go through all the insanity I went through to get approved, through the pre op diet that I am going through right now (incidently after 16 pounds or so I am stalled for the last 4 days), go through the surgery and recovery and more restrictions only to find out that I am not going to lose any weight for some physical reason unique to me. I guess it is irrational, but that is my sick mind at work. I am meticulous with following direction (20 years military does that to you) and know it will all be fine, but I worry it will all be for nothing.

I had my first contact with the surgeon's office on July 2. Today's July 29 and I'm done with the insurance requirements. I fired off an e-mail to my insurance coordinator, who is super awesome, and she gave me the direct e-mail of the person at the surgeon's office most likely to answer my questions.

But it all feels very assembly-line. This is a major, life-changing thing and I don't want to [bleep] it up, but I'm afraid I don't know what I don't know.

If you think that is assembly line, from what I hear in some of these hospitals it is one Sleeve after the next like well....an assembly line. I guess that is ok since repetition is good. I just hope I am in the morning when they have energy and stamina instead of late afternoon when they are fatigued and ready to go the heck home.

Premiere Protein makes a caffe latte that’s really good for the fancy coffee drink taste. It has caffeine in the pre mixed one. The powder (sold on Amazon) does not have caffeine but it tastes different and I was not a fan of it. I am five months out and I still have one of these every morning for Breakfast.

Shopgirl...I had the same experience with the powdered cafe latte. It has a sickeningly sweet after taste that made me unable to drink it. I have found that most of the Protein Drinks with a little bit of powdered Peanut Butter taste much better if you like peanut butter.

Has anyone found the Protein Drinks that are recommended that actually taste good. I'm struggling to find one that is fish/iodine free that taste good. Any and all recommendations are accepted but please not hate.

Pick up some powdered Peanut Butter. They remove all the oil and leave the powder. Sprinkle in a little of this which adds Protein and a few calories (30) but it improves the taste of any of the vanilla or chocolate flavors. YOu don't need much so maybe less than 30 calories will help. I really find it made some of the flavors with a strange after taste much better.

Hello my surgery date is April 14th so I started my liquid diet on the first. Just wanted to know what some of you guys were drinking? I'm doing Slim-Fast no sugar high Protein Drinks. Not as bad as I thought it be.

I am a week into the pre op diet and I find it similar to what you are saying. It is not anywhere near as bad as I thought it was. For whatever reason I am not as hungry as I thought I would be. I have to watch myself because I tend to want o skip a little and eat too little calories which I hear is just as bad as too many calories.

  12. I think you have to set intermediate goals that are relatively difficult but reasonable to reach. I am currently 276 from a high of 293. I am still in pre op diet stage for 2 more weeks. My intermediate goal would be to be at 260-265 for surgery date then get down to 210 within a year. As I progress and get closer to that goal, I can change my goal to a more challenging number like 185. I set my goal at 210 because that was my weight at age 40 (I am 57 now).

    Anybody else getting cold feet?

I was not loosing weight anymore on the pre-op plan because I was thinking about how loosing all this weight is making me go through peri-menopause again. (I had it bad with arthritis aches, sweating, Migraines, and moodiness.). I was thinking that I’m paying and working hard to go through it again.

Then I had an asthma attack and couldn’t sleep for three nights in a row. Finally my epiphany happened and I remembered that the terrible asthma is why I want to be healthy. The pre-op plan reduces inflammation and helps keep asthma away! Peri-menopause is temporarily, I want to see my son grow up. I’m back on track.

What is keeping you on track?

stick with it. The positives clearly outweigh the negatives.

I suggest you talk the decision of whether to get a divorce over with a therapist. First because you can’t really judge an entire relationship by just one action without a whole lot of background. Second, If he is really abusive and manipulative they can tell you what to expect when you mention it and help you prepare (get your ducks in a row so he can’t sabotage you somehow). Maybe Just tell him it’s related to an eating disorder if you need an excuse or just ask him to go to another marriage counselor with you and when he says no, tell him you are gonna go anyways.

    Good suggestion.
