  1. Right after surgery I weighed and measured everything to make sure that I was getting the correct amounts. After I learned what those amounts looked like on a plate I moved more to intuitive eating. Before I take my first bite I make a plan in my head how much I'm going to eat and also try to pace myself slowly if I'm eating with other people at the table.

  2. My hair started really falling out around 3-4 months. I had really thick hair, so no one has noticed. I asked my surgeon about Biotin, and he basically said it's like throwing money out the window. He said to make sure I get my Protein in and take my Vitamins. I was definitely freaking out for a while when it started, but it seems to have stopped now.

My progress is almost identical to yours. Same weight loss, same stall. Except that I'm still in the stall. My surgeon is very happy with my progress so far, so I guess I shouldn't worry too much.

Had my surgery July 15, 2021. Down 68 pounds. In November I hit a stall that lasted well into the first week of January. I just started losing again last week.

I am happy with my progress and still hopeful I will hit my target eventually.

Would love to hear how others are doing.

Are you keeping a food journal and logging ALL of your food? It does seem strange that all this time out and your diet is basically Protein Shakes and eggs. Maybe step up your exercise routine for some more aerobic exercise and weights. I've lost 54 lbs since July 12 to compare and my BMI was 39 to start.

My surgery was July 22. I lost 8 pounds within the first two weeks. I still have only lost 8 pounds.

I'm drinking Protein Shakes. Taking all the Vitamins. I'm eating scrambled eggs --anything else-- I can only take maybe 4 bites. I feel like I am eating 1/8th of what I used to eat and I do not understand why I am not losing.

I started walking and was proud that I was walking 2 miles (On the treadmill.) Dr. said that "walking is not an exercise. That is why we were born with two legs --we are supposed to walk."

Well wishers have questioned --"maybe you're not eating enough." "Maybe you're not getting enough water." "Maybe you're not getting enough protein." "You did not have that much to lose, so maybe it will go slower." "Maybe you're still healing." "Maybe its your thyroid."

I don't understand --my brother in law had a two week bout of pancreatitis and lost 25 pounds --believe me, he wasn't worried about Protein or Water, he just didn't eat much. I am extremely worried that I might be in the 10% who this surgery doesn't work on.

Incidentally, baby sister leaves tonight for Gastric Bypass in Tijuana.

I am almost 6 weeks post gastric sleeve. I am starting to slowly introduce ‘normal’ foods. I have managed to eat spaghetti and noodles fine but tonight I tried penne Pasta and sauce. I only have about 2 tablespoons of Pasta and a Tomato sauce, I didn’t even manage to eat all of this. I have vomited shortly after. This is the second time to happen in the last week. Does anyone know why this could be? I don’t want to get scared of trying to introduce new foods but it’s putting me off eating!

I'm not even allowed to have pasta until 6 months after surgery. I'm pretty sure there's a good reason why that is. Lean Protein and veggies is my diet 7 weeks post op.

    Hey July Surgery People!

It has been a while since we have had any updates in this thread. I can't wait to hear how you are all doing.

Let's do another stats check! ✔📉

How is your progress going? (NSV, inch loss, weight loss, pre or post op, phase.)

    Good luck!🤗

    ________________

Surgery Status: 3 weeks Post Op VSG (July 26th)

Phase: post op soft food diet week 2

    Highest known weight: 291

    Starting weight: 280

    Current Weight: 253

Inch loss: 2 inches off waist, about 1 inch off most other spots.

NSV: I fit into a pair of pants that I never fit into! (They are my current size but cut smaller & I bought without trying them on.)

I had my surgery 7/12, and have lost 38lbs since my pre-op diet. Eating is going fine, struggling to get all the Water in. I just bought some jeans 2 sizes down from what I was wearing pre-surgery.

  7. You feel low on energy because your calorie intake is far lower than you're used to consuming. Make sure that you are getting your Protein intake that your dr recommended. I'd skip the broth and substitute something with protein. If you're drinking liquids slowly you probably won't get the full feeling because it's moving through your pouch. Doesn't sound like anything is wrong. The more you heal, it's easier to drink liquids without feeling that strange stomach feeling.

On my day 3 post surgery I was very tired. I napped on and off all day. I think my body was still getting rid of anesthesia. By day 4, I was feeling pretty much myself with slight soreness. You will definitely be exhausted by the end of the day.

Hey all of my sleevers! I figured this group has the freshest memory on healing and wanted to ask a question.

I was suppose to be having surgery 8/10 and it was moved three weeks out. I’m freaking out because I start school in two weeks.

For those who have had the sleeve, is it doable to be back in classes three days later?
I go to classes for 8 hours a day and would have to be present three days post op and have two hospital clinicals a week that would start when I’m two weeks post op.

In your experience am I being realistic to continue on with the date given?

    Thank you!

  9. I had surgery on 7/12 and I haven't been able to reach my Water goals yet either. Since before surgery, I've been reminding myself that this is a process, and eventually I'll be able to eat the foods I like (just not in the same amount as before surgery). Also, my doctor had me on the soft food stage immediately after coming home from surgery which makes me feel much more satisfied. I'd suggest looking up some interesting recipes for when you move to that stage. Enjoying your new meals that taste good definitely make you feel happier about the decision.

Hi there, how are you eating already at 3 weeks post op? What exactly did you eat? Just curious because I had mine 7/12 and am only on puree foods that's all.

I had surgery the same day as you and was eating soft Proteins (ricotta cheese, eggs, ground turkey) from the first day that I got home from the hospital. It seems different surgeons have different guidelines.
