1st Meeting w/PCP Today....HORRIBLE!!!
Hmmm....I was 53 and weighed 405 and didn't need any of those tests. I was questioned extensively by my surgeon, and I did have OTHER tests that needed to be done. I had an ecg, an abdominal ultrasound, blood, chest x-ray, barium swallow....but not the three the OP mentioned. Since I had no symptoms of sleep apnea, no indication of heart trouble (blood and ecg would tell the tale there) and no need for comorbidities, I didn't need them. I guess it would depend on 1. if OP's insurance requires a PCP referral (mine didn't, not all do) 2. If OP feels she may have any of these issues and 3. If OP's insurance and/or surgeon requires those tests. They aren't necessary for safe surgery, actually.

reluctant...
No, I read it...I think I was the one not too clear. HOWEVER...you know yourself better than anyone on a "talk" board ever could. If you were unhappy and now aren't, then it's moot anyway!
-
Is this possible?
Yes. I gained 10 pounds or so. You are pumped full of fluids during surgery. Don't obsess about it; it's just saline (or something similar) and will "pass"

reluctant...
I don't understand how refusing to settle would make you a "victim". If you don't want the band 100%, don't get it. It takes lots of work, adjustments, aftercare. There are people who wanted it desperately who HATE it when they get it, so I can only imagine how unhappy someone would be who didn't really want it but was getting it anyway. If you want bypass, check around, find a good price, and get it. Seriously. You'll pay for the band in other ways, especially if you don't want it and feel it is 2nd best.

shopping list?
I was on liquids only...no yogurt etc. I did buy Soups I liked (not cream of, just things like chicken noodle etc) and strained the "stuff" out of them and had that broth. It was way better than just chicken broth! I used EAS Carb Control AdvantEDGE shakes they are low carb low fat ... I could only have them during week 2 though You know gatorade has carbs/sugar in it, right? And I didn't take ANY Vitamins week 1 but once I could have my Protein I just took my regular 6-pack multi (which has plenty of calcium in it) You might want citrical petites...they are the "good" calcium and easy to swallow, for many people anyway! You may want liquid tylenol. Also something to DO to keep you from eating. Videos, books, nudie pix of joaquin phoenix (oops sorry that just slipped out) LOL

Can I have unprotected sex?
let's see....her thread name "Can I have unprotected sex?" Her question: "Can I have unprotected sex?" Did you think she was asking about chicken? Mushies? Why did you open the thread...just to be snarky?

Red meat?
Steak is a staple of my diet; I just had a few ounces of rib eye tonight. I just have to chew it well, and I eat it well done. ? I can eat chicken too...and white bread...so I think I'm kind of the exception. In fact I haven't found a food yet that I can't eat...some I shouldn't eat much of maybe, but nothing I can't.

Please help me..is this a food intolerance?!?
It seems each person has a different post op diet. Chicken was NOT a mushie on my diet. Surgeons usually "tweak" the post op diets to THEIR client base...they all have different styles of surgery, different patients, different rates of recovery etc. So she would need to use HER post op diet as a guide, not anyone elses. As I said, per mine, she REALLY ate way ahead of the game. But mine isn't the one she's supposed to follow; her doc gave her guidelines for her use.

Husband says, "Don't fill"
Would you have been down that 55 pounds without the band? Did you vomit/have reflux etc BEFORE you got pregnant? Why didn't you get an unfill ASAP when you found out you were pregnant? What do YOU want? I think once you know all that, you'll have your answer. Much as you may love your husband, you must do what you know is right for you. Will you be happy if you gain back that other 55 pounds, because honestly statistics and odds are NOT in your favor to keep it off. Facing that, what would you want?

Digital Bathroom Scale Recommendations?
TANITA! I second that. Anything by Tanita. It's the brand, incidentally, that many WW facilities use (they do NOT use the cruddy WW brand. don't buy those they are useless). Even my surgeon's office has a pricey Tanita scale that tells me more than I want or understand about my body composition! LOL J/k Anyway Tanita makes a quality line of instruments.

I was just banded today!
Mine was very much like yours. I felt a little more sore on day 2 but not bad and by day 3 felt "normal"! Glad you too are having an easy time! Just stick to your post op diet so the band can heal in place properly and you'll be set!

Please help me..is this a food intolerance?!?
I'm not going to be mean, just honest. chicken with gravy isn't a mushie, I don't think (chicken is notorious for getting "stuck") and if you're supposed to be on mushies (depends on what your doc prescribed) you've "cheated" and may have been stuck or had a slip. IF you are on mushies only you may want to call your doc tomorrow and see if he thinks you need to be checked out. If you were already approved for "solids" (which is what chicken is...and which usually, but not always, isn't allowed until week 4-6 depending) then you probably didn't chew it well enough.

How soon will I feel "Full" after surgery?
I came to in surgery hungry. Yes, I really was. It wasn't head hunger. I recovered super fast; I had no issues, I was HUNGRY. But, it passes.
-
Im fed up
I think these are questions you should ask your surgeon. Since you're self pay, you have a bunch of choices; you chose him for whatever reason. If you aren't happy with the service you're getting, take your test results and find another doc.
-
What would you do?
1. How good I felt how quickly 2. How long it took to hit my "sweet spot" and finally start losing 3. That's it!
-
do u have esophageal pain when takin meds?
It's not normal. You need to see a Gastroenterologist, I'd think, and get that checked out. Don't leave it...you may have an issue that's easily fixed if caught, or can do damage if not. I assume you didn't have the symptoms before the band? If not, then call a GI doc and get checked out. Good luck!

New from Atlanta
Welcome and good luck!
-
Surgery cancelled today :(
Agreed! Good luck; let us know how it all turns out for you!

Approved for surgery, now what????
If your doc said 3 weeks, then that is probably what it is for his practice. It depends of course on your surgeon and the facility he uses for the surgery (hospital etc) So each person will have a different take on it. Mine was about a week as I recall...from approval to OR.
