  1. Hi Ro,

thanks for the message. I had a very busy weekend, so this is the first time I've logged in since my fill.

The fill went well. A local then 2ccs, and I can't burp again! Lol! But it's good in that my food intake has decreased significantly again. My Dr said he's looking for 3kgs a month weight loss and I've lost 6 since my op, so he's very happy with that. He thinks if I can lose about 2-3kgs a month, I should get to my personal goal weight within a year.

It's good to hear you're on pureed foods now. You need some solid food for energy to regain muscle, and while you may not lose much weight from now on, you'll lose inches for sure. The pants I bought two weeks ago, which fit very snugly, require a belt now to stay up. And I've only lost less than 2 kgs in that time. But almost 3.5 inches off my waist alone!

Have you started any exercise as yet?

  2. Tomorrow is port and tubing replacement day, and not a moment too soon either! I want my working band back already!

  3. Have been given the rest of the week off to recover. I feel better but not 100% so NOT complaining...

  4. Having a vegetarian partner who does all the cooking is turning out to be a blocker in eating in a band friendly way. Too many carbs, very little protein. This little black duck is going to start cooking for herself again....

  5. No fill today. Turns out I lost 1.5kgs in a week without realising! Next appt in 3 weeks to see if I'm still losing. He wanted to take fill OUT because of how much I lost this week. I think all the patients in the waiting room heard me bark out 'NOOOO!'

  6. Hi thanks for your comments on my photo. I definitely had excess skin and had this removed with a lower body lift in April 2009. :) Since then I've lost another 20 odd lbs though. :)

  7. Hi! It's so funny when people tell me I'm an inspiration, because not long ago I was exactly in the same place you're in now - just banded and a little worried that it wouldn't work for me! It's nice though to speak to another Perth girl as there are so few of us who regularly use this site.

Fanny is a great chick (met her IRL) and she and I had the same band surgeon and plastic surgeon. Our band surgeon was Steve Watson and our plastic surgeon was Bruce Allbrook. And yes, Bruce is here in Perth. I had my surgery in SJOG Murdoch, and Fanny had hers in Hollywood Hospital. Bruce is a bit of a legend, to be honest!

Happy to chat about any other questions you have! I'm sure you'll have great success with the band - us Aussies seem to do well with it!

  8. is ready for a new start. In every way.

  9. I have a waist! I almost cried when they took the dressings off. It's no wasp waist but it's a waist nonetheless. I feel so WOMANLY now! lol!

  10. Dropped 2 lbs over the weekend. Probably wasn't a good way to do it but I'm sure it'll come back on in its own time...

  11. wants chat to start working again damnit. Or it's going to be a very quiet evening, just me and my bottle of wine...

  12. is getting a new tattoo today!! Woot!

  13. I can't get into chat from my work computer, Christy! arrrghhhh!! So peeved!!

  14. I need to start exercising again. Need the clearance to go skating, damnit!

  15. It's been just over a week of very little restriction, despite apparently having 8.5cc in a 10cc band. Worried something is still leaking. Have put on the 1.5kgs I lost and another kg to boot. One week til I see my Dr again. We're going to have a proper chat about this.

  16. I went to dinner last night and easily ate chicken breast and rice. Worried I'm losing restriction. Argh!

  17. Thanks cutie! How are you going? You been taking progress pics of yourself too? I promised myself I'd never post progress pics but after I actually could see the difference I got all excited! Lol!

You must be almost in no pain anymore. How's your appetite right now?

  18. Heya!

I finally put up some new body lift photos. I realise looking at them that the scars haven't changed much in the last year!

Not long now until your surgery!

  19. 70 min bike ride this morning on hilly terrain in very hot weather. Gonna do NOTHING today but veg out now.

  20. Band replacement surgery this morning. Leaving in 10 mins. Wish me luck!

  21. Added a ticker to my signature to encourage me along. I haven't had one in years! Hope it does the trick!

  22. 2nd day of liquids. This isn't as hard as I thought it would be. I guess I have the right motivation! :P

  23. Hi! I just read your comment on one of my pics and thought I'd leave you with the answer to the question you asked.

I started out by walking, but as I got stronger, and lost weight, I started cycling. Cycling (on a spin bike) became my main source of exercise, and I cycled 40 mins 3 times a week most weeks. It was good because my knee was arthritic and cycling was low impact. As I approached my goal weight, I did take up some running but it aggravated my knee, so I stopped.

Doing that, it took me 7 months to lose 66lbs. And I've lost another 19lbs or so since my body lift, though since my lift, I don't exercise in a structured way so much anymore.

  24. is wondering if it's a bit ridiculous to want to lose another 10lbs for her sister's wedding in a year....or am I bowing to wedding pressure here??
