  1. My "full liquids" was much like Tony B - NJ's, plus I am allowed to have kefir, Greek yoghurt, and skyr as long as it's not fatty and not got much sugar in it.
  2. Oh my God, I thought I was the only one. My left leg is itching like CRAZY. I haven't changed soaps or detergents. I find that putting lotion helps for a little while, and I have some anti-itch cream from the last time I decided to ignore what poison oak looks like.
  3. I have three weeks of post-op liquid diet and am almost two weeks through it. I'm allowed to have unflavored Greek yogurt, skyr, and sugar-free fat-free puddings on my "liquid" diet and I find those help a lot. Also, warm savory things help—phở broth, miso soup, chicken broth. And the Fairlife nutrition shakes that taste exactly like chocolate milk seem to assuage my hunger. It is better now than it was immediately post-op, for what it's worth.
  4. Get some whey protein isolate and dissolve it in whatever you like—chicken broth, water, diet juice that you like. Unfortunately since I live in the US I can't speak with authority as to what's available in Oz.
  5. You need to call your surgeon. If you develop a fever above 38ºC/100.4ºF, especially. If you develop a fever above 39ºC/102.2ºF, you should go to urgent care.
  6. Stop weighing yourself every day. So many things can alter your weight between 2-5 lbs. Maybe you're less dehydrated. Maybe you've got hormonal changes ("that time of the month"). Maybe you ate more salty stuff than usual. Weigh every week and make sure you're measuring yourself, too.
  7. That's amazing. You must feel like a new man. Congrats and thanks for sharing!
  8. The first day or two are bad, there's no getting around it. Hard to take in enough fluid or protein, hard to change positions, and all that mufferthunkin' gas. Make sure you're walking a few times a day. I promise, it gets better, and FAST.
  9. Hospital Ángeles is the best hospital in Tijuana... you were in good hands and I hope you're recovering well!
  10. Thanks everyone for not jumping all over me...the immediate-release version of my antidepressant seems to be spiking my anxiety. I haven't lost any weight in the last couple of days but I suspect it's "the stall" come a bit early. My surgeon says it happens when fluid balance is restored, and I've been really good about fluids (100 oz or so a day). I know that there's no way I'm "stopping" this early, not on 600-700 calories a day, so I'm just going to stay off the scale and move to weekly weigh-ins and measurements on Mondays.
  11. I am nine days post-op for a VSG. I read all the comments about how people take all day to finish a protein shake and I just don't. I have no troubles swallowing. I don't feel full (wasn't expecting to on liquids) but do know when I am full. But it only takes me about 30 minutes to finish a protein shake. I feel like I'm eating too much—about 600-700 calories a day, about 100g-120g of protein (which is what my doctor suggested), and getting 96 oz. or so of fluid in me. I obviously cannot chug anything, but I can take full mouthfuls of liquid. Am I just weird? I know I won't feel my restriction until I go on foods (which is still not until the end of October, three weeks of liquid and three weeks of purées), but... am I failing?
  12. I trusted a fart (nine days post-VSG) this morning and it did not go well. TRUST NO FARTS.
  13. I had surgery on a Tuesday and took that week and the next week off. I could've gone back but I get tired easily even though I have energy. I'm glad I took two weeks. Three weeks would have been de trop.
  14. I did too, went under anesthesia at 10.30 and was home in my house at 18.30.
  15. I have the same worry. This seems... too easy. I feel like I shouldn't be able to drink as much as I am, and I worry that I'm consuming too much.
  16. It's hard at first but I'm so happy I did it. I had mine the 14th. I was doing okay (after the initial awful first day) until this morning when I was overcome by massive dizziness. I was out for a run and had to stop and walk back to my house. I called the surgeon and he troubleshot with me, and it turns out my high blood pressure just... resolved itself... but I was still taking the meds, so I had low BP. He told me to eat something salty so I made soupy cream of rice in pho broth, and felt a little better.
  17. Trust me, it's not as bad as you think.
  18. As others have said, it's best to ask for help from a professional. Take heart—it IS possible, and you'll gain strength which will help with the weight, even if all you're doing is muscle stretches. Everyone has to start somewhere, and you made up your mind to do it—that's the hardest part.
  19. That's normal and it's your system telling you to slow down the drinking.
  20. Yikes! I'm glad you got the care you needed. Here's hoping the entire rest of your experience is smooth sailing and steady downward trend of the number on the scale.
  21. You’re right about insoluble fiber. I can tell you for sure that nutrition labels are a combination of soluble and insoluble. Very rarely they’ll be called out separately but it’s really unusual. My NUT says if you can’t tell if it’s insoluble fiber you have to assume it’s not and count it.
  22. Don’t worry about the protein. The first day or two it can be hard to sip but you’re not going to damage yourself if you don’t get your protein in for a day. My surgeon said sip half an ounce every five minutes. If I sip a Fairlife CorePower that’s 26g in 14 oz, and an Isopure is 32g in 16 oz. That’s five hours of sipping to get 58g of protein. Just treat it like your full time job until your system settles enough for you to take a mouthful at a time. Try to sip protein containing liquids until you get your protein in. And remember that any “liquid” counts as fluid… sugar free jello counts, sugar free pudding counts.
  23. Sounds like the three-week stall got caught in traffic. Just stay with your program! It WILL come off. And if you have doubts, call your NUT!
  24. MyFitnessPal paid version here. Make sure you turn off the setting that "adds" your calories from exercise to your food allowance unless you are firmly in maintenance, though. (Sadly, this is a paid feature.)
  25. You can force it to your macros, but it just won't let you complete your diary. To the OP: the 25g of sugar is included in your 70g of carbs, so your total is: ( 70 g protein + 100 g carbs ) x 4 = 680 cal 26 g fat x 9 = 234 cal Total 914 cal Here's one thing, though: a LOT of products have started trying to cheat on their nutrition labels. One example is Mission brand "Carb Balance" tortillas, which claim to be 70 calories per tortilla. If you look at the nutrition facts, they have 5g protein, 3 g fat, and 19 g carbs of which 15 g is dietary fiber. (5 x 4) + (3 x 9) + (19 x 4) = 123 cal. However, they're not counting the dietary fiber, so they come up with 70. Dietary fiber still counts as calories! So make sure you do cocktail-napkin math before you take the nutrition label as gospel!
