  1. I'm so glad I found your post, its like I could have typed it myself and am here also looking for solutions. I'm about 7 months post op from sleeve, and I haven't lost any weight since the beginning of September. I keep pingponging back and forth between the same 2 pounds. I thought it was just a stall but its been so long now. I'm at 207, and I'm SO CLOSE to hitting 199 and I just want to get there... my goal was to get down to 180 but I would be ok if that never happens - I just want to go past 200! I'm hopeful that you finally started losing again that maybe this just happens for all of us!
Well first off I love your name!! Lol I was born in long Island. Moved away when I was real little unfortunately though...but yeah I am right with you too, I have been at a stall to I guess, seems like forever though like around 4 weeks. I've actually only lost a total of 37lbs though!!! Which is wayyy less than I expected:( I also have been going through ALOT here at home though...I'm married to a a very mentally abusive guy and have zero friends or family but still I should be trying harder to lose the weight. :(

  2. Oh it is rough at first that's for sure but trust me it will get better! I actually wish I could go back to eating two bites and being done lol bc I'm at 4 mo ths post op and can eat almost anything and any amount lol I do get that dumping syndrome which really sucks sometimes but when it passes your all good. It's my own fault though.

  3. Good morning! This is my first post here, but I have been "lurking" for a while. [emoji4]
I had my RNY 3/17/2021 (HW 367, SW 349) and did GREAT for the first 3 months (down to 292.6). Around month 4 I noticed I could eat much more and when boredom hit, I would munch on Snacks. I started eating "around" my surgery. Slider foods mostly. I hit my Protein goals and Water goals daily, but I have realized that I am a stress and emotional eater. In my program, we have a doctor, nutritionist, and a surgeon. I spoke with the nutritionist and the doctor about my habits and how I caused my own stalls. They were quite understanding and even offered to start a medication to control the appetite. (I work 2 jobs and I am a single mother, so I was using food to soothe myself when things were rough.) At my 6 month post-op appointment with my surgeon (279.8) I was hit with accusations of not wanting it bad enough and was told being stressed should make me lose weight, etc. Ugh! At the end of the appointment, he told me he believes in me and it frustrates him when patients aren't losing what he expects. So of course, I went home and did what I knew to do - I ate everything I could without getting sick. I woke up having lost 2 pounds. [emoji2356]
As angry as I was with my surgeon, he had changed something in me. He was wrong. I want it bad enough. I just don't know how to cope with stress well. I have always used food to self-medicate, to Celebrate, to cope with life. I took up smoking and when I quit, the weight piled on. Today I am 263 pounds. I am 6 1/2 months post op. I am tracking every atom of food I consume again. I am drinking a gallon to a gallon and a half of Water every day. I am walking more than ever. When I see him in 5 1/2 months, I want to be at goal. His goal for me is 200 pounds. My personal goal is 167. I did not need the medication to jump-start my weight loss again. I needed to be angry. I say this to say that I was not being honest with myself and when someone was honest with me, I became defensive. I still have days when I eat like crap or days when I don't want to walk. Such is life. I am fighting this food addiction with all my might and I really have my mean old surgeon to thank for the kick in the pants. [emoji3590]

I am right there with you. I just passed my 4 months and I am so ashamed of myself for not trying harder...I've literally only lost 40 pounds! I'm at 262 this morning and I just don't know what to do anymore. I just started working this desk job and before I was a stay at home mom so I'm even more mad at myself that I didn't take advantage of the time I had off to exercise bc now I'm literally stuck in a chair for 8.5 hours a day and when I get off I have a crazy kid schedule and it's all about them and not me so no time to do anything. But I know that I gotta find the time somehow and do me! It's just so hard sometimes you just wanna give up and eat every thing in the house! [emoji20] I really thought I would lose like 100 pounds at least but it's just not happening and feel like I've missed a huge opportunity to get it off! Well anyways, I'm glad you got yourself mad and committed yourself! You will do great with the right mindset! I gotta try to get there myself lol

  4. I am right there with ya! :( I am 7 ¹\² weeks out and I'm only down 16 lbs. I'm just blah at this point and don't know what to do either. I am 37 years old and should be able to do wayyyy more than I do. I really thought that with this surgery it would change that but my legs knees hips feet back just everything still hurt after just a lil bit if housework. I mean yeah I can do more technically than what I was prior to surgery but I guess I had my hopes up high bc I'm not where I wanted to be at this point. I guess we just got to keep on keeping on...and not give up and just try our best to be as healthy as we can be. :)

  5. Wow, I am so sorry to hear this. I can't imagine being that close to it and then it being taken away:( I am so sorry. But don't lose hope! I agree with the person who mentioned the cobra too. Or even the financing if at all possible. Or even try for state insurance if unable to do the others, not sure exactly if they do it in your area but I know they do in Tennessee with the right company. So if you go that route make sure you do your research first so they put you in the right plan. Good luck to you!!! ♡

  6. Hey guys, thanks for helping me out. I know I probably should have went to the hospital but I didn't get sick again after I posted that last one. I am sure I'll here from my dr tomorrow though so I'll see what he says. I had my in laws down this wknd so I didn't get a chance to do any research but I'd assume I'm okay if it hasn't happened again right? Or am I just being dumb and need to still be seen? Ugh idk..I feel fine ever since yesterday evening... so I'd think I'm okay...I can eat food again with no major issues so idk
I will keep you guys posted on what happens tomorrow or this week on if the dr decides to see me. Thanks:)

  7. So I have been vomiting blood! I called Dr office and left message with answering service. They called me back and it was a dr I didn't know standing in for my dr. She suggested prilosec bc it could be an ulcer. When I called I had only thrown up once today with blood. Well now I've thrown up since I've been home about 4x and all have deep red color still. She said something about basically resting the rest of the wknd taking it easy on foods and that shed let my dr know what was going on and that I may need an endoscopy. My daughter just got home from buying the prilocec for me and I am Literally scared to try to swallow it. :( I barely even ate anything at the restaurant too and didn't even get a sip outta my water....I am so upset. I had to run out and threw up in my car! Not the way I wanted to start the wknd! Ughhh! I am like an hour away from their emergency room too idk if I should go or not since I have thrown up since talking to her. Any suggestions?

  8. rate of weight loss depends on so many factors, many of which you have little or no control over (like age, gender, starting BMI, metabolic rate, genetics...). The two factors you DO have a lot of control over are your activity level and your level of commitment to your food plan, so if you're good with those and your overall weight trend is downward, you're good.
I lost 16 lbs the first month, and I started out at over 300 lbs. I don't know you're starting BMI, but based on your profile picture, I'd guess that you started at a much lower BMI than I did.
you don't necessarily need to exercise to lose weight, although it does help a bit (and of course it's great for your health). But being tired all the time is a common problem the first month or two after surgery. I do know people who rarely/never exercised after surgery and ended up losing a lot of weight regardless, so it's not really necessary to lose weight. Just do it when you can and stick to your clinic's plan and the weight WILL come off, whether fast or slow.

    Thanks!
I have been all the way up to 319 at one point probably about 2 and a half years ago but when I started with my surgeon in Feb, I was 299.5 and day of surgery was 291. And this morning I was 276.0 so idk I know I haven't EXACTLY been eating quite the way I should though which I'm mad at my self for but at the same time its so hard bc I do still crave the thi gs I shouldn't have. Plus, my family all eats terrible and I mean TERRIBLE so that doesn't help me either[emoji19] but when I do eat kinda bad it's not like THAT MUCH ya know? So idk I guess I just gotta keep on... keepin on! Lol Thanks for the info and help dear![emoji4]

  9. Hi! Just wondering if anyone on here was near the Nashville area? I live in Burns, TN and could use amsome friends that "get it" lol ya know the new lifestyle etc etc. I moved here about a year and a half ago from Port Charlotte FL and have made some friends but just curious if anyone on here (who understands this whole lifestyle change) was in the area....

I had the RNY June 14th 2021 and am losing some weight but not as much as I hoped. I know everyone loses different but just still a tad concerned. I've lost 15lbs and I will be 6 weeks out on Monday. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I don't exercise so I'm sure this is my own fault but I'm so so tired all the time. Lol

  10. I had the bypass on June 14th. Ohhh I know exactly how she feels though. I was in so much pain all I could do is cry but yet that hurt too lol I however don't deal with pain well. I was miserable till probably almost 3 weeks. Walking a little bit each day really did help though..well in a weird way lol it hurt yet felt good lol. I so had nooo support from my husband so trust me just be patient with her and be as helpful as possible. Worrying about her and posting this is how it should be. That's awesome of you! Just help her as much as possible. Make her foods etc well when she starts pureed and stuff. Good luck to you both:)

  11. I’m 4 weeks I day post op, and have only lost 11 pounds. I don’t know WHAT I’m doing wrong.
I totally get it. It's frustrating [emoji19] I tried walking today and I'm just blah like ehhh I hate this. I wish I enjoyed it the way I want to! My dr wants me to be doing 10miles in a week! I can't even do 1 mile a day without my hips and upper thighs hurting! My right one especially really bothers me idk why....

  12. I am 5 weeks post-op and I'm following all the rules; Protein, Water, nd exercise and I've only lost 1 pound in the last week. Suggestions?

So how are you doing now?
I came across this thread bc I am actually 5 weeks today and lost only like 15 if that. I haven't exactly been the "best" patient though...going through some family/marital issues and got off track so I'm sure that has alot to do with my amount but I'm hoping to get back on track asap and hopefully lose some more. Lol

  13. Yeah I completely agree with everyone else on here. It was like ridiculously painful for 3 weeks. Slept on our couch that was a recliner and boy oh boy I hurt alot but before you know it you will be back to laying down comfortably in your bed. Lol
Whatever you do don't be like me and stop walking just bc you don't hurt that much anymore bc I was just getting into the walking thing and stopped and bam now I don't wanna go do it! I want to kick my own ass but at the same time I'm dreading going outside to go walk!

  14. Hey everyone, just checking in cause I haven't in a while. My scars are healing nicely. They're little pink thin things. Much, much better than the ones from my gallbladder out where they sealed the incisions with glue and the scars left are big circular deals.
Had my first post-op appointment with the surgeon and my dietician cleared me for all foods, not just soft. However, I've still been sticking to soft foods just cause they're easier on the tummy. Getting in around 500-600 calories a day, which my dietician mentioned was to be expected this far out. So feeling better about that. I had been worried that I wasn't eating enough even though I sort of felt like I was eating all the time. Still so strange to feel like I'm kinda constantly eating but still only be eating so few calories. I am down to 242, so my stall is long gone, which yay! It lasted about 2 and a half weeks total when I was at 252-251. Total of 28lbs lost since surgery on the 8th which is pretty amazing. Also down 12 inches over the past 3 weeks, not all from one spot but an inch or from various spaces (thighs, biceps, chest, hips, waist, neck).
Starting to feel more "normal" again which is amazing! Getting on soft foods and more regular foods really really helped. I think my favorite meal right now is just deli turkey, cheese, and some olives or dill pickles.
Hope you are all doing well too!
Wow! You lost alot! Good for you!!:) I'm at 5 weeks today and I've lost only 15lbs:( it's very hard to stay positive and be patient right now bc of that...so I've been doing what I do best unfortunately and eat the wrong things or eat too much. It really stinks! I was trying to be what I call active which isn't much unfortunately but now I haven't even been doing that! Idk whats going on with me...I had 2 premiere Protein Shakes today and my 4 chewable vitamins and still hurt all over and have no energy. I probably didn't have enough Water though now that I think about it. Gosh, I gotta start logging everything I eat and drink. I have been slacking with so much since I've had marital problems going on, family issues, and daughter going off to college, and my 2 lil boys are just driving me nuts this summer:/ I need to step my game up I guess ughhh
Well anyways, glad your healing real well and feeling good! I hope to join you there soon lol

  15. Not sure if this is where I should ask this but, I was doing some house work today nothing major and noticed my pants were sliding down a tad and went to pull them up and I noticed I felt like something a little wet. Well it's like hardly nothing but still....it was one of my bigger incisions (from the bypass I had 4 and half weeks ago) that had a teeny tiny of blood and I'm guessing pus coming out. At first I was freaking but it's really not alot but I thought I was all closed up for good lol I know I should probably call my dr but I really hate calling them:( has anyone else had an issue like this?

  16. How are you feeling now? I also had my surgery on June 14th 21. And boy oh boy I couldn't agree with you more! I'm just now feeling like a normal human being again. With that said though, I actually have had a a few days here n there where I was so super weak and shakey. But as in pain I'm much much better than I was those first 2 or even 3 weeks. I just cried n cried alot. I also didn't have a good support system whatsoever either though so I was going through alot besides having major surgery. I think I'm weak and shakey bc I'm not getting in my fluids and Protein like I should be. How much have you lost? I actually have only lost 14 lbs! And I'm very concerned about that! [emoji53] I don't mind being a slow loser but I'm terrified like I'd be the one in a million who just DOESN'T lose the weight lol I am also not very active like I was trying to be before. I thi k I'm just being down n depressed and giving up already:( but hopefully it's a just a stage I'm in and will snap outta it soon. I hope your feeling better!! Let me know:) take care!!
