    I have a few NSV's to share!😁
Yesterday, I went to a restaurant that I went to before surgery. We sat outside in patio chairs, and I had no problem sitting in the chair, the arms of the chair were not cutting into the sides of my thighs. (I still don't trust those plastic white ones, though.)
Also, yesterday, a neighbor asked if I lost weight & said I looked great. It was surprising to hear from someone who doesn't know about my surgery. It was also the first time I heard anything from someone who didn't know.
Today, I tried on the bridesmaid dress I will be wearing for my brother's wedding in April. At the end of September, I ordered a size 16 even though I couldn't quite zip it, hoping that by April it would fit, or possibly need to be taken in. Well, it zipped with a little room!
Another NSV is my shirts are getting very baggy on me. I am trying to hold off on buying lots of clothes in between sizes, but every time I wear something lately, I feel like it may be the last time. (Although, I guess this isn't really a weird NSV🤷‍♀️)
BTW- I love reading everyone's NSV's and can relate to so many of them. It is so nice to hear about other's progress & really start seeing some of my own. 🤗

    Hey July 2021 Surgery People!
It has been a while since we've had any updates on everyone's progress.
I reached a BIG milestone today & am excited to say that I am 100 pounds down.
Overall, things have been going well.
Have I been perfect? No. Could I possibly have lost faster? Probably.
Some of the things that I have struggled with are getting enough Protein & water/fluids in. I also recently noticed some grazing was returning when I would prepare my kids' snack. I also feel that I need to exercise more.
When I started I was so strict about following the plan as best I could. I know I don't need to be perfectly following everything to a T, but know I don't want to let old habits return or lose out on this weight loss window.
I started trying to focus & Proteins & fluids again. I want to start habit tracking again to try my best to follow my food & activity plans. I also want to increase fruits & veggies. (I recently read 2 of Dr. Matthew Weiner's books and realize I need to try to incorporate those foods more)
Some of my "go-to" foods and drinks currently are: yogurt (light & fit greek), nuts, cheese, fruits, craisins/raisins, salads, chicken, shrimp, crackers, unsweetened iced tea, hot coffee, & iced coffee. I sometimes add unflavored Protein Powder to yogurt & coffee.
I still have at least 20 pounds that I want to lose. I am also realizing that maintaining the loss will probably be hard work, as that is obviously something that I was never able to do before. When I get to where I want to be, I know this is when I will need the most support.
So, I'm just wondering how everyone else is doing?
How much have you lost? Are you at goal? How much to go? What are you struggling with? What works for you? What are your go-to's? Favorite exercises or activities? Products, advice or tips to share? Fears?
Wishing everyone well, hoping you are feeling good, & are at or closer to where you want to be.😁🍀👍

Congratulations on reaching your goal and surpassing it! You should be proud of yourself. I am so happy for you. Your friends & family may just need time to get used to seeing you at this weight, don't let them get you down. You think feel good & look good, how you feel about yourself is more important! I bet you look amazing!
Wishing you success in maintaining your weight loss.

Hugs. Treat yourself as you would a close friend. What would you tell them in a difficult time in their life? I am so sorry for your loss. I loss someone dear to me a few years back. It hurts so much. We tend to fall back on old addictions for comfort.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I firmly believe that. I've had many hiccups in my bariatric journey and each time I make it through to the otherside and get back on track, I understand myself a little better, and each subsequent hiccup was easier to navigate for me. Because I understood how I responded. So I knew how to prevent beating myself up and how to get through the bump in the road. Beating yourself up only takes you further backwards and away from your goal.
Most of my hiccups have been physical issues with injuries at the gym or flare ups of a chronic disease that decides to make life miserable sometimes. But it's the same concept... learn from this hiccup and be more prepared to deal with the next bump in the road. Because honey, life has a way of tossing them our way quite often. Don't be mad at yourself. Only be mad at yourself if you completely give up and throw in the towel. Which you haven't, so you're on the right path and in the right place... here on BP, where you have support from many others that have walked where you're walking now.

    Best wishes on your journey!

I am so sorry that this has happened to you, its so tough loosing your Mum especially during this pandemic. You have woken up and have asked for help and thats all that matters. There is a lady on here called @GradyCat Who has started her diet from the beginning again and she may be the best one to advise you. Good luck and be kind to yourself, depression is awful. Hugs x

Hi! Good job on getting yourself together to move past the trauma and towards getting your life back on track. You can read some of the posts I have made on here - on various threads to understand that I, too, know loss. I maintained a 180lb weight loss from 2005-2019 with just diet and exercise.
my suggestion for you in the gym would be to start with stretching. Stretch in between everything you do there. While you're walking on the treadmill or doing cardio, stop after about 10 minutes and stretch. Get into your body!
The stretching will allow you to feel your body in ways that you may have not before. This can become like a meditation and also improve your flexibility. You body will love it and it will help to propel you.
Feel free to reach out if you want a more guided approach.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Everything you are feeling is valid, and there is no shame in struggling. You are recognizing it and taking action to get back to health, that first step is the hardest part! As for the gym, I would say just do what you can and be consistent with it. If that's the treadmill or weights or swimming - whatever it is, do it regularly. Once you've made going a habit, you can add in another machine or heavier weights or whatever. But the first step is just making it a habit. We are rooting for you.

I did the same thing after my sleeve except that I never really allowed it to work at all. I lost my mom, my father, and my dad within 16 months and my husband was being treated for cancer plus my brother and his family stopped speaking to me. I was horribly depressed and really was hoping to die so I wouldn’t have to cope anymore. I went to grief therapy, then a therapist. Now I’m on an even keel again and was just revised to a bypass on the 8th. Don’t beat yourself up, sometimes we simply have too much to deal with and we tend to be hardest on ourselves. If you were talking to a friend, you wouldn’t beat them up. Just try to take things one day at a time and do the best you can. That’s really all any of us can do. I highly recommend grief therapy if it’s available. Our local hospice group offered it for free and so do some churches. There’s a really good speaker, Dr. Alan Wofelt if you look him up. Maybe he will be in a town near you. Listening to others dealing with grief at different stages helped me feel less alone although I still miss my folks every day. My best lifelong friend died in December and I was able to not go back off the deep end. Be kind to yourself.

First, I'm sorry for your loss. Second, it happens. It happened to me. I gained close to 30 pounds back during COVID, but the good news is that the WLS still works and I was able to successfully lost that 30 pounds back just recently. It's possible. You can do it. Take care of yourself and get back to the basics and you'll be successful.

So as the title suggests I am mad at myself. Not looking for sympathy just more as a warning to those who are about to have the surgery or just had it.... I went back to all my old bad habits. I lost my mom less than a year afterwards and the depression set in. I'm gonna try and get help for where my brain is at. I've gained just about all my weight back. And I know I can get it off but it will take time. Any advice on where to start as far as the gym. Hugs

I am sure there's a thread on this very topic, out there.....however, this goal was an important one, as well as an emotional one for me and I wanted my own thread on it. I don't remember the last time I weighed under 200 lbs, and finally this morning, my scale read 199.8 lbs. I know that .8 is there, but for me, seeing the 199, meant a lot. While I still have a little ways to go, (about 55 lbs), to reach my end goal, reaching ONEderland was a cornerstone for me. It's been just a little over 2 months since I've had my surgery, and not one day goes by without me telling myself that I should have done this much sooner! I'm no longer wearing "stretchy" pants....I'm now wearing jeans!!!!
PS. Don't mind my toes....I wasn't going to have a pedicure done until I reached ONEderland, so guess what? I'm getting my toes done this weekend!!!
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I know we are all somewhat "strangers" to one another, but in our own way, we hold each other's hands through all of this. The good and the bad.

    Hi Everyone,
So....it's been 7 months for us. I've lost 20 pounds. I was very depressed for a while because I wholeheartedly expected to lose more and more quickly. As long as I keep losing, it will be ok. Maybe it's good that's its been so slow. IDK
So, get this, the new dr put me on Adipex. I told her that I had taken Adipex for my entire adult life (I'm 56). But she prescribed it anyway. She told me to eat every 3 to 4 hours. And she told me that I wasn't getting enough Protein. I know that's true. Most days I don't even get half of what I'm supposed to have. I know this, I've had enough Protein Shakes and eggs to last a lifetime. Why aren't there scientists out there figuring out a way to make a protein patch or a capsule. LOL
I did get some JRobb protein powder to add to Soups and yogurts. I haven't tried it yet.
I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in a long time --and that's nice. I still have 16 pounds to go to reach my goal. The surgeon made it sound like I would lose all I would lose in year one. In other words, he doesn't see patients losing in year two very often. This leaves me 5 months to try to lose the 16. I'd like to know if any of you guys heard the same thing. Can I really expect NOT to lose after a year? Or possibly even gain back?
On an unrelated note -- I've been reading about alcohol. I'm trying to cut back on that too, hoping maybe that will help with the weight loss.
I've lost some hair. The new dr is super nice and she explained why we lose hair --that's why I've got to figure out a way to get the Proteins in.
I'm very happy for all of you who have lost really big amounts of weight. That's got to be life-changing. Congratulations.
Baby sister had gastric bypass in Tijuana in October and has lost nearly 80 pounds.

I have passed my goal weight ,
    Hit between 52kg and 53kg

And have stopped losing now , I’m happy with where I am , I look and feel amazing , have lost 37kg

The only downside now is my family telling me I’m starting to look sick and I need to stop losing weight , (I think I look amazing lol)
I’m a healthy weight not underweight
And comments like these are the only thing bringing me down

I have noticed myself snacking more
And being able to eat more
Hopefully I don’t fall into a bad routine
Have to learn to stop myself snacking so much and I haven’t exercised or done any activities so I should really get on that

Officially 100 pounds down!! It feels so good to have reached this weight, a year ago I couldn't have even imagined being here again.
I still want to lose at least 20 pounds, and see that the weight loss is definitely slowing down now that I am further out from surgery & getting closer to my goal. It is time for me to make sure I am staying on track with the positive changes and habits & not losing focus.
Wishing everyone well on reaching their own milestones & goals. 🤗🍀
