    I have a few NSV's to share!😁
Yesterday, I went to a restaurant that I went to before surgery. We sat outside in patio chairs, and I had no problem sitting in the chair, the arms of the chair were not cutting into the sides of my thighs. (I still don't trust those plastic white ones, though.)
Also, yesterday, a neighbor asked if I lost weight & said I looked great. It was surprising to hear from someone who doesn't know about my surgery. It was also the first time I heard anything from someone who didn't know.
Today, I tried on the bridesmaid dress I will be wearing for my brother's wedding in April. At the end of September, I ordered a size 16 even though I couldn't quite zip it, hoping that by April it would fit, or possibly need to be taken in. Well, it zipped with a little room!
Another NSV is my shirts are getting very baggy on me. I am trying to hold off on buying lots of clothes in between sizes, but every time I wear something lately, I feel like it may be the last time. (Although, I guess this isn't really a weird NSV🤷‍♀️)
BTW- I love reading everyone's NSV's and can relate to so many of them. It is so nice to hear about other's progress & really start seeing some of my own. 🤗

Candace76 got a reaction from You Are My Sunshine in Anyone Ever Cancel Their Surgery? I Did... Not Sure How I Feel
You Are My Sunshine- Thank you for sharing this post. I am sure there are many people on here that are considering this surgery that may also be apprehensive & have similar fears of going through with the surgery.
It is a life changing decision, and I think it is better to hold off until you are sure that you are ready to proceed. Perhaps going into it so unsure may have given you a more challenging recovery, in that you might have more buyer's remorse & have more difficulty tolerating the challenges you might face during the healing process.
A year ago, I don't think I would have been ready for this surgery. I had been offended when doctors suggested it in the past. I needed to be in the right place & ready for it. Once I finally decided that I needed the surgery for me to have a successful weight loss journey, I had a peaceful & hopeful feeling about it. I still had some slight fears of complications, but nothing that would have stopped my plans.
I think the suggestion from ShoppGirl to see a bariatric therapist is a great idea. Give yourself time to discover whether this is right for you, or maybe it something that should be reconsidered down the road.
Good luck, and know that you did the right thing for you at this time. 🤗

    Hi Tapioca!
First, congratulations on your successful weightloss! 👏 It must feel incredible to be so close to your goal, but frustrating that you are struggling to get where you want to be.
I'm only about 3 months out and far from goal, so I am sure some veterans will have better advice or experiences to share.
Have you been able to speak to your nutritionist or doctor about your progress? I have seen suggestions to go back to tracking food, making sure to get Protein & Water anytime you get off track or hit stalls. Have you tried to go back to 3 meals & only 2 protein rich Snacks? I can easily see how snacking can creep back into the routine after WLS. There are also "pouch reset diets" that may be helpful to "reset" and get those last 10 pounds off.
I hope you get to where you want to be & find ways to get the snacking in check.🤗

Alright I gave in and made pumpkin pies (I do not really like pumpkin pie but I was outvoted).
The crust is homemade (oil crust) and the filling is 100% canned pumpkin puree (not squash) with various fall spices.
Also all baked goods I make I have no idea of the cals/macros… but this was made with real sugar because it’s not for me (I made myself a tiny pie)

Do you feel like this is something that you still want to do? If so, maybe a bariatric therapist can help with the anxiety. They should have statistics on how often (how infrequent) these things happen that you are afraid of. They can also tell you the statistics of things that happen because of obesity without surgery. Plus if they are prescribing dr maybe they can give you something that you can take the night before and morning of surgery to calm you down. Of course you have to make sure the surgeon is okay with you taking it but my guess is that they will take your anxiety more seriously now.

My brother is 6'2" and built like a linebacker. He's overweight (probably qualifies for surgery, but I wouldn't bring it up with him; not my place). He fits in a standard airplane seatbelt but is uncomfortable because of the length of his legs and the width of his shoulders. Still, he managed to fly coach from Philadelphia to Australia and live to tell the tale. He was pretty miserable, but the trip was worth it. Even my sister-in-law was miserable in coach, and she's average sized. Everyone is miserable when it takes 21 hours of flying! I was upgraded on the way there but not on the way back. While the upgrade made a huge difference, I wouldn't have paid $10,000 for it. Even though it was a lay flat bed seat.
You'll get to your purple goals; it is so worth it!

No more sleep apnea!! I used to wake up 3-4 times a night to pee. Turns out that's a symptom of sleep apnea. I was so tired all the time, falling asleep at the wheel when driving and falling asleep at work. I thought I was having incontinence issues but nope, it was my body fat crushing my windpipe in my sleep. Now I sleep like a rock and it's great. I'm so much more well rested and have much more energy. No more falling asleep everywhere!!!

My husband and kids can close their arms around me, this is thenfirst time in my childrens lives they have ever been able to do that. I can run. I can cross my legs! I find myself doing this even in the car! 😂

My recently I bought 2 pairs of leggings at target from the womens department... NOT the plus size wall, the actual Womens section. Yes they are a 2x from the womens department But they arent a 2xl from the plus size section which is bigger. I felt so proud 👏 🥲 🥰.

I went to Lab Corp for a blood draw and I could finally sit in one of their waiting room chairs.
Pre-surgery, I had to stand up because I didn't fit in the chairs (I looked like a muffin trying to wedge itself into a thimble).

I can workout without peeing myself [emoji15] I used to pee myself just going down stairs. I would have to run go pee before I went anywhere, run to the bathroom in the middle of grocery shopping because I had to pee. No longer an issue. I can even run 3 miles without having to pee! It's great.

But also, no more sleep apnea, I can wear SHOES that I haven't been able to wear in years (who knew we gained weight in our feet!?), my feet don't ache anymore, and I'm not ruled by food anymore.

Although I've been sewing since I was in 8th grade, I signed up for a class at a local sewing shop. We are all making the same top. We are using a "multi-size" pattern. It was interesting hearing others discuss what size they needed to cut their pattern even if it was a large size because I know 3 years ago I never would of told anyone what size I was! This time I was the smallest person in the room and had no problem discussing my size! That was definitely a NSV for me!

I can finally fit in the chair from ikea in my living room for the first time. I have always taken the couch and my husband sits In that chair or in the bar stool at the island. Small victories.

My weirdest thing was chairs. Like not having to worry about chairs in restaurants, the embarrassment of not fitting in chairs in a conference room at work, weight limits on patio chairs, etc. I can’t list how many amazing things have happened to me since I lost almost 170 lbs but every time I sit in a chair in the conference room at work and there is tons of room on either side as I sit with my legs crossed (another fun victory) it’s a reminder how far I came.

I still don’t understand why people think this is the easy way out. It is by no means easy. It’s doable, but definitely not easy. Everyday I have to make choices of what I put into my body and how many times I eat. If you chose to eat junk food or eat too many times a day you wouldn’t lose the weight. The surgery is a tool but you still have to do all the work. You may be able to educate her on the surgery or you may not be able to get her on board but you should still do this for you. Statistically they say that something like less than 5% of people with an obese BMI can lose the weight and keep it off. Im guessing you like so many of us have tried dieting and either can’t lose or gain it right back. Maybe if your mom came along with you to the doctor so she could express her concerns the doctor or the nurse practitioner could help you explain to her that this is not the easy way out and it is necessary for your health.

Ignore her and do it for your sake. I know that sounds harsh, but the reality is, most of us can't lose the weight on our own and bariatric surgery is the tool that allows us to be successful long term. If she cannot understand that or, at the very least, respect and support your decision, then you don't need to include her in that decision and should more forward without her. It is certainly NOT the easy way out, but living a shortened life in an obese body isn't easy either. We all have to decide which "hard" we are going to live with. I'm so sorry you don't have the support you desire, but you will certainly get it here. Do what's best for you.

Sometimes you have to do things other people don't agree with. It's hard, and you can try to educate her by having her read asmbs.org (lots of good resources). It's definitely not easy. I've been struggling and I haven't even had any complications! It's not guaranteed that you will keep your weight off with surgery, but you have no chance if you don't have surgery. (I lost 100 lbs 7 years ago but in 5 years gained almost all of it back; I knew I needed surgery to get a re-set on my metabolism.
But no matter how much research you show her, she may not be willing to support you, and you may have to decide to do it anyway. I am super close to my mom, so whenever I have to do something she disagrees with, it breaks my heart. But I would have done this even if my parents didn't agree. Fortunately, they were very supportive.
    Good luck to you!

    The "easy way out"?
    Bulls(p)it. Total bulls(p)it.
It is not the easy way out. It is a TOOL that you are being given to teach yourself how to interact with food from now on. It doesn't last forever. A lot of people think "oh well you got your stomach stapled so of course you're gonna lose weight" without knowing that you can absolutely stretch that pouch out.
Don't. Listen. To. Her. Mothers aren't always right. Do this for YOU, because you have an entire life to live. And when the weight is coming off you left and right and you're starting to ease back into the world, you'll have the best feeling in the world and it'll motivate you to keep going.
