  1. Gas-x strips work wonders!!!
  2. The FDA just pulled Meridia so I hope you're not taking it. Heart problems and stroke as side effects and they finally admitted it
  3. To me....that's how I got to 250 lbs...so I think it's a brilliant idea!!! Stop the gaining while you can. I understand. But insurance companies are a whole other thing. You may be able to find a doctor to do it (if you can sell it and pay for it too). I don't think you are crazy. I wish I could have stopped my trend of gaining a little at a time year after year. I wish you luck!
  4. Good luck with your band. I'm coming up on my year bandiversary and I wouldn't change a thing. It's been slow going for me and quite a learning curve to boot. This website has been invaluable to me as a support. I'm 42, single and from long island. Stephanie
  5. I'm one month away from a year and I'd be thrilled with 52. right now I'm under the 1 lb/week average..but hey, its pounds that are gone forever. I had about a 12 week plateau but i stuck with it and finally broke through. Just keep up the day-to-day following of your program and you will get through. And Celebrate your accomplishments!!! 52 lbs gone is great!!!
  6. Congrats!! I hope to follow in your footsteps sometime soon. Way to go!!!
  7. I've tried several times but don't see any of those rooms you mentioned to pick from. Oh well. I give up
  8. still can't get in. tried what you said wynn...but i don't see the place to choose a room to chat in ???? I'm having chat room withdrawel....LOL
  9. I don't know. Me too. Just a blank white space. Please help!!!
  10. It takes me about 2-3 weeks to feel the effects of my fills. And once i was too tight and had a slight unfill. That could be happening to you too. call your doctor as a precaution. Are you getting stuck??
  11. How do you have 6cc in a 4 cc band? I've herd something like that before but don't understand. One thing as far as the future...this is out now I believe...it the single incision placement of the band. Wow..that must be nice.
  12. I woke up this morning to read this post and this is soooo what I need. I read the blog and joined (i think) but couldn't figure out how to make a comment there. Anyway, good luck. I'm in it with you. Stephanie
  13. i understand what you are going through. I had better restriction with fill #2 than #3 then too much with #4 and #5 took weeks after the fill to feel the effects. There's no rhyme or reason for how the fills affects us. Maybe it hasn't "hit" you yet but it will. I was about to call for another fill when on the 18th day post-fill I felt restriction. Just my experience. Good luck
  14. The same thing happens to me ( i like Jachut's way of putting it..it makes sense) but it doesn't bother me as much because I know it's about Water fluctuations. I have a Tanita scale which shows the % water in addition to how much I weigh. When the weight is up it's usually because I'm retaining water. I figure if I take it one meal at a time...eat right...it WILL come off slowly...and that's ok with me.
  15. Miralax is a powder that dissolves in any liquid you want with no taste or grit. Its my laxative of choice.
  16. I had a fill on May 1st and was worried because I still wasn't feeling anything...well, whammo....I finally feel restricted today. Mine seem to take 2 1/2 weeks to feel the effects. go figure. Hold on. It will work
  17. i think you're loss is great. think of this...if it's about 6 months and you've lost like 30 lbs that is 60 at the end of a year. You're pace is great...keep going.
  18. I had the same problem...everything in except this "letter". Follow what the previous poster said....they will sign for you. They just haven't a clue about all this "stuff"
  19. I did experience some sharp pains at random times in my port area after having surgery. They were sharp and quick and went away fast. They told me it was part of my body healing. If yours get worse or is prolonging...don't hesitate to call your doctor or go in sooner than your appt. Good luck
  20. good luck on this new journey. I am from Long Island too..had my surgery in Syosset
  21. The whole sugar issue really worried me too which is why I would NEVER consider bypass with the violent dumping thing. Too scary for me. The lapband may be slower but it's adjustable as you go along. the few people I know who had bypass are gaining it back. JMHO
  22. I have gone up and down the same 3 pounds for weeks now so I really need to challenge myself. starting weight 251 start of challenge 232 goal 7/4 199 to go 33 Please add me to the list. Since i've only lost around a pound a week this might be tough..but i hope i'm hitting my sweet spot soon.
  23. Sometimes you don't feel the effects of a fill for a couple of weeks. It's weird but I don't feel the effects of my fills for close to 3 weeks i think and then i notice the tightness. Keep chewing and choose the right foods. If it's still too tight, call your doctor
  24. I (unfortunately) fell into the Last Meal Syndrome bit and probably put on an extra 10 pounds before surgery...stupid, stupid, stupid. I felt blah! This is not the end of eating forever...but just the beginning. Check with your doctor about the pre-op diet. I only had the liquid diet to shrink the liver for a little bit. check with yours
