July 2021 Surgery People!
Thanks @seija for your input. I think I’ll keep calling weekly and pray that there is a cancellation! I’m glad to hear that I might be ok for clinical since that one is the hardest for me to get out of. Best of luck to you (and everyone else). I’m so excited to see what the next couple of months have in store for all of us!

July 2021 Surgery People!
Mine is giving me the exact same expectations so I figured I would ask “real” people. Thanks for your feedback.

July 2021 Surgery People!
Hey all of my sleevers! I figured this group has the freshest memory on healing and wanted to ask a question. I was suppose to be having surgery 8/10 and it was moved three weeks out. I’m freaking out because I start school in two weeks. For those who have had the sleeve, is it doable to be back in classes three days later? I go to classes for 8 hours a day and would have to be present three days post op and have two hospital clinicals a week that would start when I’m two weeks post op. In your experience am I being realistic to continue on with the date given? Thank you!

Eating around others who aren’t privy (Social Eating)
I think I’m going to take a mixture route of all of this advice. I’ve never been a big eater so even when I would do small portions before I would constantly get comments about how little I eat. I’m in the health field (both for school and work) so my fellow cohort are nurses and my work at the hospital are fellow nurses and doctors and they tend to be a bit more direct about their assumptions and concerns, lol. If it comes to it I’ll just make the boundaries clear about me being a friend/coworker and not their patient. Until then, I’ll be utilizing all of the suggestions provided in this thread here to keep things civil and comfortable. ? Thank you everyone! I’ll come back in a month and let you know how it goes!!

Eating around others who aren’t privy (Social Eating)
Hey everyone I’m new to this site, but have been getting a ton of information from everyone so thank you!! I’m due to be sleeved on 8/10 and have a question. For those of you who have had weight-loss surgery how have you guys managed eating in social settings? Especially for those of you who have not necessarily told the people who would be in those settings that you underwent the surgery. I will be returning to my work and school environment where I’ll be around people for 10+ hours a day (including meal breaks that we do in group settings). I’m wondering how I can eat without looking awkwardly suspicious at the table. With the weight dropping off I don’t want whispers that I have an eating disorder! The best idea that I can think of is to tell everyone I’m on a smoothie kick and do the smoothies in a non-see-through cup, this way I can take fake sips and they won’t be able to see the level of the drink that remains after lunch. Any advice would be great, thanks!!

No pre-op diet?
Same here, no diet and thought it was odd (especially since my surgeon is so young). I’m personally going to do it for 10 days anyway - can’t see how it would hurt. Glad to see others received the same advice!

Alcohol during maintenance??
I wake up late, slow/sluggish and disoriented when I drink sometimes as well so I could believe that! And no … he will never let you live this down lol. FANTASTIC for quitting! I know that wasn’t easy to do, but your lungs and body will thank you! Thanks for updating us and best of luck!
