  1. Hi all! Hope all are well! So I’m about 2 months post sleeve feeling great down about 35 pounds… had a brief stall here and there but staying patient throughout.

In my past, I would enjoy a typical white claw or Malibu seltzer cocktail (sold in cans). Knowing that we are not allowed carbonation, does anybody have any suggestions of drinks that are sold ready to drink in can form but not with not carbonated?? I’m not even sure any exist and I’m sure I would sit on one for close to an hour but just wondering if there were options. I was a fan of the cheesy sweet drinks in the past, but I don’t even think I could handle them at this point. I picked up a light pineapple light cranberry juice and I plan on throwing a splash of Malibu in 😆🤷🏻‍♀️

  2. Ahhhh! 2 days in to puréed stage…. I’m cutting up a rotisserie chicken for my kids and I just couldn’t resist…. a nibbled on two pretty decent size pieces of the chicken skin! I did chew it thoroughly (I wanted to have that taste in my mouth forever 😆). Didn’t feel sick or anything afterwards but when I looked it up my God the Protein is at least high but the fat is thru the roof. I caved! This soon! I had to confess. I drank a ton of Water afterwards and just made my last meal of the day a little bit of Soup with Protein Powder added. Ugh I’m disappointed in myself 😔. I won’t go off the rails or anything I just needed to have a taste 😔 any encouraging words??

  3. Thank you all! Great advice! I’m curious to see what my nutritionist says on Thursday!
In my plan? The liquid stage is for 10 days...Saturday I get real food!
also just wanted to share if it helps... I don’t know if you guys drank the Ispopure clear drink while recovering? It’s a non-milky alternative to the numerous Protein Shakes and has zero carbs and 40 g of Protein in 1 20 oz bottle so for those of us who have struggles trying to get the Fluid intake you can kill two birds with one stone with that! I’m a busy hygienist wrapped in masks all day so it’s very difficult as well for me to keep up with the fluids and calories while at work. Also, fair life has a 42 g Protein Shake called CorePower you can find at Wawa if you want to try singles for flavor....that has also been helping!

500 calories is 500 calories regardless of where the calories comes from. (500 calories is just a random number pulled from nowhere in particular.) If you eat a big piece of chocolate cake equal to 500 calories & nothing else for the rest of the day it is exactly the same as getting 500 calories from Protein Shakes. The difference is the quality of nutrients in those calories. Your body will burn the calories to function but it just won’t function well on the calories from the cake alone.

As you slowly introduce real food you will slowly be consuming more calories but they are nutritionally dense calories which your body needs to function well & healthily. It’s important to monitor your food intake, portion sizes & calories consumed to ensure you’re following your plan & taking best advantage of your surgery.

Your weight loss will slow as you progress. The glory days of the first weeks are just a kickstart. But every pound you lose is a win. Just watch the downward trend than the just numbers on the scale & Celebrate all your non scale victories.

Stalls happen. I liked to think of them as my body taking a breath to catch up with the changes. I know some people suggest cutting back your calories. I never did & my first stall only lasted a week. Your stall will end when it ends.

Congrats on your surgery & good luck.

Thank you for this in-depth explanation! Makes sense. I guess all of the anticipation has led up to all this hope and I’m just praying I don’t screw it up! I will definitely take all of your advice because it is wonderful that you take the time out to answer and I really appreciate it! My husband has been supportive but my family has not so this is such a big help!

  5. Thank you all.... Yes I wasn’t really referring to a stall (all to familiar with this which is what ended all of my diet in the past 😔) but more to the point that right after surgery we are only consuming all this liquid and hoping to drop pounds and then all of a sudden you introduce food.... and it’s like oh crap! How will I lose now?! But yes I do have to trust the process and I so appreciate all of your encouragement. I’ve been through some crazy obstacles in my life, but this is by far the hardest!! I love this group! the support is tremendous! ☺️☺️☺️

  6. I’m almost done with the dreaded 10 days of liquids and about to start the puréed phase. As others have said....surgery is a change to your body, not your mindset. I find myself dreaming about all the little cups of puréed foods I can make as others have suggested here: tuna salad, little taco/refried bean cups, Buffalo chicken dips (wout chips of course). A i’m just so scared that once I start eating real food and not just Proteins shakes and yogurt I’m going to see the scale stall! I try not to weigh myself every day because obviously as I’m sure you guys can relate it becomes obsessive if it doesn’t go down! Any advice on how to overcome this and be able to eat in peace when I am finally allowed to have some thing other than liquids and yogurt! 😔

I had my surgery on the 28th as well. I am feeling better than I was expecting at this point. Issue i am having is some heartburn here and there even though I am on Protonix which I have been on for years. I walk twice a day for about 0.7 miles each walk. I am doing two Premier Protein shakes a day and break up a Greek yogurt as well. I add some skim milk to the yogurt as recommended by the doctor to make the consistency more like a liquid. I am ready for the puree stage where I feel like I can get more Protein and calories. Feel like it would help give me more energy.

I had mine on the 28th as well! My nutritionist gave me pretty much same plan as you but I’m allowed low fat/sugar Soups 2-4oz for 1 meal which helps makes me think it at least some type of food 🤣. She suggested whisking in unflavored Protein Powder to help up the Protein count too! Just 1/2 scoop...not to make it to thick but if I can tolerate texture. Not bad!

My doctor told me no cream of wheat, no oatmeal, no fruit unless it’s berries. Goes to show you how different every doctor is. Even the doctors in my group of surgeons have different plans for their patients

Ugh so I got so excited and emailed my nutritionist and got a big fat NOPE. Seems like I’m on same plan as you. On phase 2 Protein liquids. Only 2-4 oz Soup w Protein Powder whisked in, yogurt, Protein Shakes, sugar free Jello and yogurt and milk 😢

  9. Thank you all! Great suggestions! So cream of wheat with sugar free maple Syrup and brown sugar substitute I’m think I’m getting excited lol. Also will try the campbells!

i’m seeing that a lot of people have different nutrition plans mine is rather strict until the blended stage as well but I will see how I can maneuver!

also great work by all of you! I love reading all the success stories! it makes it feel worth it!

  10. So I’m just entering the liquid phase where there isn’t much food except for Soup and yogurt. My doctor says 1 serving of Greek oikos which is 5.3 Oz. Has anybody been told what serving they are allowed in this phase such as the cream of wheat oatmeal or Soups? I’m assuming the serving size we are allotted is not what is listed on the can otherwise we would be stuffed! I would also imagine when we get to the next phase the amount of cottage cheese, tunafish and eggs with vegetables etc... just not sure how much we are supposed to be eating of each or we just stop when we feel full? Any help would be amazing! 😘

  11. Oh wow! Now I’m getting excited lol! I didn’t know we were allowed fruit yet! I have a two-year-old so I might just plop some of her baby food fruit into the oatmeal! I also bought cream of chicken and cream of mushroom Soup that you can Water down with water or milk and hoping those taste just as good! I’m not a big fan of split pea or lentil like my doctor is suggesting. Those I would have to blend and strain anyway. This is probably a dumb question but I’m guessing we’re not allowed to flavored cream of wheat because of the sugar? Like the cinnamon and the maple brown sugar ones? I picked up some sugar-free maple Syrup to try to make it taste that way though 🤣

  12. I’m close to you guys! Sleeve on 5/28. No pain meds, gas is settling down and I moving so much more today !! so tomorrow I can actually have some type of food! Even if it is the boring yogurt and Proteins shakes but I’m excited for soup!! Any advice going into this phase?! As soon as I feel tortured or deprived I just keep thinking this is not forever we will get some satiation back! Time does fly ☺️

  13. Hi all! New here! Just had sleeve yesterday and in hospital. Getting out this afternoon! liquid diet was hard... I couldn’t even get to the last Protein Shake I was over it by then!
The recovery is pretty difficult.... they don’t give you a brain alteration 🤣 so hard to adjust you’re not supposed to chug a 1oz cup of anything...sip sip. What a life change!
Not supposed to be hungry but I am 😢
