I have been waiting 3 years to post this. Today I had my mommy makeover! Breast augmentation and lift, and a fleur-de-lis Tummy Tuck.

    I’m 18 days post op.
Since surgery I’ve lost 16lbs. In the last week I’ve lost 3 lbs.
Pros: clothes are looser or fit better. I see a change in my body from losing 31lbs. I can eat soft foods! Found my new tummy likes fresh tuna filets, chicken salad (canned chicken), avocado, and shrimp. Learning to eat very slow. I go for 2 mile walks everyday and feel great when done.
Cons: I miss eating at parties or with the family. I’m fatigued. I’ve gotten 4 bags of IV since surgery. I’m dehydrated because I can’t drink enough Water as my body is used to having a gallon a day pre surgery. I can’t eat enough Protein because of the restriction makes me full. shakes make me sick. Constipated.
I am overall happy with my my results. The cons are temporary and I know within a few days or weeks, it’ll pass. For my 6 month wls celebration, we’re planning on going to French Polynesia and I’m surfing the web shopping for swimsuits two sizes smaller. The health benefits will be seen when I get a blood test in month 3.
    How are you?

Have you tried broths? I loved Swanson’s sipping bone broths. I threw up for a few days. Old blood mostly, which is normal with my surgery. The shakes make me sick and I end up throwing those up too. But the sipping broths were amazing! I also found my tummy likes warm drinks compared to cold drinks. Have you talked to your nutritionist?
When you do start to eat, eat slowly and with a baby spoon. Take your time. I take a bite, put my fork down, maybe take a walk around my living room/ kitchen and then take another bite. It was glorious when I could mash an avocado with fresh tuna. I had my first chicken salad (canned and made with Greek yogurt with dill) today. It was sooooo good! You got this!

one thing a nurse told me which could help you is to let the Water slide down the back of your throat the first few days instead of swallowing, i personally found this tedious very fast but when i did do it it did work. the first few days to a week are THE WORST trying to get in water, just do your best it will become easier i am now three weeks post op and drinking water is a breeze whereas the day i was discharged I was having so much chest pain I actually thought I was having a heart attack and was going to die while I was in a hotel room all by myself, I survived and so will you! it gets worse before it gets better and you can see from so many positive messages that it does get better! xxx

Bulabula reacted to loridee11 in 18 months post RNY
I am just over 18 months post RNY surgery and am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity for this tool, and glad I made the decision to do it. Even with everything going on in the world today, I am feelling happier and healthier than I have in a long time.
I am 5'10, just turned 43 year old women (41 at time of surgery). Highest weight was 334, day of surgery 292, today I am maintaining right around 160. So many non scale victories, but a few of my favorites:
    - I have a ton more energy. I used to fall asleep on the couch after work most nights, and weekends I did errands and chores and rarely had the energy for much else. Now, I use my evenings to chores and save my weekends for hiking or other fun activities.
    - My knees and ankles don't hurt. Before, just walking around the block meant pain, and my knees ached everyday (arthritis). Now, I walk between 1.5-2 miles almost every day and rarely have any pain. I can even do yoga poses like child's pose as I'm gaining flexibility back.
    - I am out enjoying life more. I have always loved hike, but even when my weight wasn't as high I had a hard time as I was out of shape. Now, I hike most weekends, going 10+ miles and 2K elevation gain without a problem. Last weekend, at the top of a pretty steep hill my heart rate was still below 100! As the world reopens I feel more comfortable going to restaurant's (chairs are so much more comfortable!) and I'm sure other activities will be easier too.
    - I started a new job in April, and hadn't met anyone in person. We had lunch the other day and I wasn't self conscious and worried that they'd be judging me for my weight.
    - I can fit into cute and stylish clothes. I'm still figuring out what works on my new body, but I can go into little shops and they actually have things that fit! I'm generally a S top and 8-10 in bottoms.
I do have some work to do to clean up my diet. I've slipped a little in the last couple of months and need to get back to eating healthier before it starts impacting my progress. My goal is to not have to hyper focus on food and do regular meal planning with healthy foods and just eat until I am full. Hopefully, coupled with exercise that will help me maintain.
    Thanks for letting me share.
    Lori

I’m10 days post op DS and walked two miles yesterday. It felt great! As long as you’re not straining or need a change ofclothes to exercise, walking is usually encouraged. But check with your drs.

surgery went well. Recovery is rough! I can’t keep Water down so I’ve been eating ice chips in small amounts. I also haven’t had a bowel movement for a week!

Only my husband knows about my surgery.
For Christmas 2020, I bought us exercise machines and set up a gym in our home. I thought I would jump on the health train and get myself healthy. However, months went by and I didn’t change my habits or diet enough. I wasn’t even thinking about WLS in April 2021. However, I felt my health declining and I finally weighed myself. 250 lbs at 5’6”. I’ve never gone over 220 before, even when 9 months pregnant.
My blood tests showed I am pre-diabetic, have high cholesterol, and anemia. Everything bad that runs in my DNA and that I said I would prevent. That’s my issue, all that is preventable. I li This is when I decided I needed to make a drastic change and invest in my health. I called several doctors and because I was paying cash, I was able to have my surgery scheduled within three weeks from my first consult!
I’m 6 days out of DS Surgery and I’m happy I haven’t told anyone about WLS. My siblings and friends think I had an operation to fix my heavy periods. Before surgery, I was dieting and exercising for a few weeks and lost 15 lbs. I told friends and family about my blood test results and how our family was making healthier decisions. This was enough info for everyone.
Maybe one day I’ll tell those that may want to know, but as of right now, I’m focused on getting myself to be healthy and that’s enough.
  25. Congrats!
