I pretty much lived on hummus and applesauce during the puree stage.

Talk to your surgeon/PCP about getting a 30-day supply of liquid meds. Warning: they usually taste horrid.

How's everyone doing now that we're into April? Anyone's plan have them on regular diet yet? (I'm still on soft foods for another week.) What's been the most difficult or the most delightful part of post-op life so far?

I had mine for fourteen days, but of course it felt like a whole lot longer.

I'm at five weeks post-op, and the only craving I'm having so far is for green salad. I don't officially start regular foods until next week, but I'm perishing for crisp lettuce, cucumber, radishes, carrots . . . (oh man, I'm making myself hungry here, lol). I'm wondering how other folks tolerated small amounts (1/4 cup) of salad relatively early on.

Whatever else you do/don't do, I strongly recommend not stockpiling Protein Shakes before surgery. I didn't listen to this advice beforehand, and sure enough, my sense of taste altered immediately after surgery and I can barely gag down my Protein shakes now.

Do you have a recliner? I had to sleep in my recliner for a couple of nights due to my drain, and it was tough. I'm a side sleeper, and once I could spend the night in my own bed on my side, life got a whole lot sweeter. Wishing you quicker healing and lots of luck.

I do, too. I trust their products, and their customer service is terrific.

LOL! I thought I was the only one who named my new stomach (Steve, currently known as Baby Stevie). He hates several things I've tried, too. He's a picky little cuss at times.
Keep setting and reaching those little goals -- they're the best way of making steady progress toward the big ones.

By this time next week it will be April, and all of us who had March surgeries will be on the mend. I hope we can continue this thread and keep helping and encouraging each other with this exciting new way of life.
To those having surgery this week, best of luck!

Can you tolerate raw veggies to the point of salads yet? I'm craving a big crisp salad, but it will be weeks before I can attempt that. I was going to suggest tempeh, but WhispersOfAngel already did.
Here's a salad that sounds delicious to me: https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/warm-chestnut-and-apple-salad

How kind of you to say! It's going pretty well so far (three weeks in).

Yeah, I tried Chantix soon after it came out, but I couldn't handle the incredibly vivid nightmares it gave me.
I'll tell you what did work for me: I used nicotine lozenges for two months while I learned to break the habits of association between smoking and other activities (drinking coffee, finishing a meal, driving, etc.). Once those new habits were learned, the nicotine lozenges were much easier to give up than the cigarettes had been. Addiction was so much more than physical dependence.

I smoked for over 50 years before my surgery. Quitting cigarettes (14 months ago) was by far the hardest thing about this entire process, but also the best thing I've ever accomplished. I still miss cigarettes every single day -- but I'm more determined than ever not to smoke again. Now I'm breaking the chains of morbid obesity, too. I'm all about the freedom, baby!

Congratulations on your onederful accomplishment! I hope to join you there in a couple of months.

Oh, dear! Sorry to hear it, but glad you're okay. My surgeon hit a similar snag (adhesions from long-ago gall bladder surgery), but was able to work around it eventually. Hope you heal quickly from this temporary setback.

So excited for you! Let us hear from you when you can.

It wasn't bad at all for me, and it dissipated quickly with walking. I hope your experience is similar.
