I’m one week out from VSG so maybe a bit too early to weigh in (pun intended) but as my incisions heal and the surgical fluids are pretty much gone, my facial features are becoming more visible and I am thinking about my future.
I’m 40 years old and very active but will be much more agile without 120+ pounds of extra weight. Snowboarding in Whistler? Yep! Riding any rollercoaster or amusement park ride I want? Yep! Staying covered up at the beach? Nope! With this surgery, I essentially traded crap food and bad eating habits for LIVING. For life!
Find a supportive mental health team accustomed to working with bariatric patients, decide what’s most important to you, ask your doc a thousand questions, and pray/meditate/ponder over it.
Whatever inconveniences this surgery may or may not bring are nothing compared to the health problems that usually accompany obesity. I was tired of digging my grave with a knife and fork. -
Great job on the weight loss! Try Viviscal Professional and PRP Injections. A bit pricey but worth it! And the Hair loss is not permanent…it will stop and grow back!

It took me about 3.5 months from the first meeting until surgery (which was two days ago). It was just lucky that I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy scheduled (unrelated), and my pap and mammogram. The psych eval and nutrition counseling were brief and uncomplicated, then I submitted my blood work. Insurance was a breeze, then I got my date.

No liquid but a very controlled plan. Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch, two high Protein low sugar Snacks, and a lean protein/veggie dinner. I am on all liquids tomorrow though! On 05/23/2021 at 14:21, Charlzette said:

I love this idea! I am definitely going to make a project plan!On 05/16/2021 at 16:59, Luna Girl said:
Working in project management for a global company, I create and manage project schedules with major and minor milestones. While going thru this process, I wanted to create a milestone schedule for my "project", Me! I am coming up on my first major milestone, that I set for the first 30 days since surgery. BMI under 30. As of today, my BMI is 30.3 and I am 3 days from 1 month post op. I may not meet the 30 day milestone date, but only two more pounds and I will reach my 1st BMI milestone. This is a big deal for me, as I have not been under 30 BMI in over 15 years.
What is/was your 1st major milestone? 😊

Hello, everyone! I’m packing my overnight bag today. My surgery is in two days! Any suggestions? I have warm socks, an extra long phone charger, a book, a heating pad, three pairs of comfy bottoms, a sports bra, and easy shoes (and all standard toiletries). Anything else needed?

Very interesting! When I stopped eating meat, I noticed my husband (still a carnivore) smelled like Iron.On 05/18/2021 at 11:36, Luna Girl said:
Not sure why, maybe due to not consuming sugar or so few carbs so far...but I have no body odor. Have not wore deodorant since day before surgery. ☺️

I’m 40, my surgery date is 5/25, and I already had a plastics consult. Once my weight stabilizes, I’m ready! On 12/06/2020 at 06:01, Chelsea198235 said:
So I just has bypass on 10/20. I can already tell I'll need plastics (especially tummy and breast lift). I'm just concerned that I'm too old at 38. I guess I'm kind of feeling like I'm not young anymore, so why bother.

Sleeved on 5/25. Doing well so far! Not using pain meds, no gas issues, getting my Proteins, fluids, and meds/vitamins on schedule. I’m doing laundry today (husband is moving wet clothes from washer to dryer), and exercise feels great. I will not miss the tenderness from the big incision although I see daily improvements.
