My issues are different but food issues just the same. My life revolved around food. Big family dinners and lots of food always available. Holidays filled with tons of food and Desserts and Cookies and pies. Seeking out the best restaurants referring to myself as a “foodie”. Not caring about how much I consumed or how many calories. Working so many hours then coming home and taking care of family with no time to take care of myself. No exercise, no control, no boundaries. I watched my husband die from diabetes and cancer and that shook me. I decided it was now MY time. To take care of ME. I need to take my life back. I have support but not from anyone that truly understands. Everyone says oh thats great but they dont really get it.

My surgery is scheduled for 31st May and I'm getting so anxious about it. I have been wishing the months away to get to this point but now it's close I'm in a bit of a panic. I have yo-yo 'd up and down my whole adult life (40 YEARS) and while I have managed to lose considerable amounts of weight over the years, it just won't budge anymore, not even on VLCD's so I'm very scared that even the sleeve won't work. My husband is also having VSG surgery on 28th June so I'll hopefully be able to guide him through the liquid stages.

Also, my surgeon said I didn't need to do the pre-op diet (apart from 48 hours before surgery but I'm thinking I will do it anyway as I feel it will help transition me into liquids so that when surgery time comes it won't be so much of a shock to me! Good luck to all of you who are having your surgery this week!

Just joined today. Surgery scheduled for the 19th! So excited and nervous. So stressed about not being prepared with all the things.

Yes bring it. People mentioned it and I didn’t get it and regretted it. You will probably only need it for like a day but it would be a huge help. So much so I’m surprised they don’t give it to you at hospital. That and chap stick. My hospital gave me some but just in case.

are you afraid you won't lose all your weight if your rate of loss drops? That drop happens to everyone -- and a lot of us have lost a ton of weight. I lost 16 lbs the first month, then about 10 lbs a month from months 2-6, then maybe 5-8 lbs a month until around month 14, and then about 2-3 lbs a month after that. And I ended up losing over 200 lbs. No reason to be concerned if your rate of loss drops - it doesn't mean you won't lose the weight. Plus expecting to lose 20+ lbs a month is unrealistic, other than the first month or two.
P.S. I should add that I lost my first 57 lbs via the six-month supervised diet that my insurance required and the two-week pre-op diet the surgeon required - so I was rolled into the OR the morning of surgery weighing 316 lbs
