  1. I can't add anything that others have not stated before me. We all suffered through it the best way we could, its brutal. You will do it with the end in your mind at all times. I believe we are all frightened to deviate because of the few people who have had their operations stopped mid surgery because their livers were still too large to do the surgery safely. It is your last week; the time will fly. Good luck

    How much food?

I have never been able to eat much at one sitting so I have 4 or 5 small meals a day. Breakfast -100gms of protein yogurt and a large latte Lunch - 25gms cheese, 25 grams deli meat and a satsuma or cucumber and tomato or 1 slice of super seeded bread with ham and soft cheese A homemade milk shake Supper - 50 gms meat, 2 tbsp veg and gravy. Or 150 gms chicken curry with a tiny salad or 100 gms fish with a sauce and a tbsp of veg. I am still unable to eat pasta and rice and have never liked potato products, Supper 2 - I will eat any leftover food from my earlier supper plate then have a low cal ice lolly. I am a lolly addict. I openly admit it. If I have room and need more protein, I will have a protein pudding or 25 gms of cheese and a piece of fruit I record about 60 - 80 grams of protein a day and 900 - 1200 calories a day. At the end of this month, I am 1 year out. I am trying to up my protein and calories because when I have a busy day, I get very tired. I am one of the lucky ones, I have little appetite

    Travel food suggestions?

For your road trips, can I suggest nuts, jerky or biltong, deli meats, satsumas, children's pack lunch food like crackers and cream cheese dippers. Instant porridge pots if you can get hot water. Peperami mini sticks, Babybel cheese and Milk. Are you allowed to take a small cooler bag on the plane? You could then take little tubs of foods like egg salad or less smelly chicken salad. Guacamole or hummus and protein chips. Fruit salad. I researched the food on the aeroplane and found they had a delivery mix up and I couldn't find anything to eat that tasted good to me. I ate some Pringles and a fruit salad. A latte coffee is always a good choice because it has lots of protein in the milk, a good carry-on item. Nut and seeds are easy packets to pack If you take some flavoured protein powder its always ready for any emergency when the shops are closed, and you can then add it to milk or plain yogurt. Have a wonderful time

    Stalls

My last stall lasted 5 of the longest, most frustrating weeks ever. Now I am at a lower weight, losing it is so much more difficult. I am eating more calories, about 900 to 1200 a day and having limited exercise is making my weight loss tough going. I knew this would happen sooner or later but it's still damn annoying. We cannot tell what your weight is so we would find it difficult to help you, but many say that it's really hard to get to our ideal set point. Our bodies just don't want to give up the last bits of fat. Some on here have managed to get to 'gold medal' stage but many have had to admit defeat at silver. We are all winners in my eye if we can keep our lost weight off My team think I will lose slowly for another 6 or 7 months. Then I can consider plastic surgery on my old saggy bits. TBH, I have lost more than I ever dreamt I could. So, vary your diet as much as possible and keep going until you cannot do one damn day more !
  9. It's a very strange thing and I am not sure I love it. It's like moving away to another town and being anonymous. My son does a double take when he sees me, he cannot get used to the new me. I have been fat all his life. I live in a small town and know everyone, now they just don't realise that this is the new me. At first it was funny ha-ha but now it's quite upsetting in a way.

    Nausea?

The iron in your multivitamin can cause terrible nausea too, I was better when I changed to one without iron. I have had my bloods done and I was not lacking in anything

    Vitamin's I should take

I take a multi vitamin without iron as iron makes me queasy. I also take a huge calcium tablet. In the UK we have a vitamin B12 shot every 3 months, which is not taken anywhere else in the world? It is always best to go with your own team selections. I will have some bloodwork done around my birthday time and they will tell me if I need more or less of these

    UTI and antibiotics

I had antibiotics the day after surgery as I had a urine infection. They went directly into my drip. I was in hospital 6 days for a few reasons. I have not needed any since but would not imagine how antibiotics would be bad for us. In the UK we can ask questions like this with the local pharmacist. They always do a follow up of any new medication.

    Regrets ?

I had to stay in hospital 6 days as I had problems with nausea and vomiting. It was caused by swelling and took a few months to settle. I had a huge struggle to get the right dose of medication as well. That took about 6 months. At bit like giving birth, I have forgot the worst parts of this and am overjoyed with the surgery. I hope you get to this place too and see the satisfaction I have found

    Fruit

I have only just had enough room in my tummy for fruit. I struggle with skins so peel everything. So, grapes are off my menu, no time to peel a grape. I eat 4 or 5 small meals a day and to up my calories and give me more energy, I drink a homemade milkshake every day. I still like banana and peanut butter in my milk. Breakfast is a protein yogurt with raspberries, or porridge and banana. My fav small snack is a sliced peeled apple with an ounce of cheese. I have always eaten loads of healthy fruit. I tend to buy what they label kids fruit, small apples or small snack packs of cut fruits. A normal pack means lots get wasted. No food is off my menu if I can stomach it. Will I ever eat rice, noodles or pasta again? I don't know this. I don't want to be on a diet anymore. I just want to keep my restriction to limit me.
  18. I don't really post on social media or talk about my surgery and weight loss. To be honest very few people know how well I have done these last 11 months. In the UK we tend not to poke our noses into others business. It's seen to be quite rude. I went out with my husband to the local service men's club. Everyone in there knew the fat me but failed to figure out who the thinner person was with my husband. All evening I felt like I was in the Exorcist movie. Heads were definitely turning in my direction, seriously, their necks must have been aching. I don't know if it was because they realised who I was or thought my 70-year-old hubby was flaunting a mistress. It did make me chuckle, it's a long time since I was the subject of local gossip. On the bus and trains, people sit next to me now and I don't know if that's a bonus or a pain. I do like to travel alone. On an aeroplane this summer, I never had the 'oh no look' when I approached the empty seat next to them.

    Constantly in pain

You should be over the worst pain by now. I would suggest you contact your team and get their opinion. You need some peace of mind that you are doing ok. Big hugs

    Hiccups

A runny nose or hiccups was an early signal that my tummy was full. I get the foamies still when I try and introduce chicken to my stomach. I can cope with it minced but not any other way. I loved chicken so much before.

    Feeling Defeated

You have done the hardest part, the first week is the worst. Just white knuckle it until you get to your surgery date. Mine was 3 weeks long and if I could, I would have run to the operating theatre. I was so finished with that diet. If you cheat this process, you may risk being opened up and the operation being cancelled due to having a fatty liver. Its a real thing. That thought alone kept me on the straight and narrow. After surgery, the liquid diet is nothing and passes so quickly. This operation is truly worth the effort you are putting in now. I can not explain how wonderful it is to live in this new body. I hope you get there too

    Surgery scheduled!!

Congratulations on your journey so far. You will soon become the person you always wanted to be. Many of us, me included, only tell our nearest and dearest because of this. Many people think they know the ins and outs of this surgery but may have only read of one bad instance. This is a very safe surgery and complications a few and far between. Some nay sayers are just jealous or don't want you to change because of their own insecurities. Ask anything you want, somebody on here will have had the same problem
