    Anxious about weight cycling

Its a thing. I have never been as vigilant as I am now. I log my food and exercise every day. I weigh myself every day. Two pounds up and I deal with it. Carbs still sit heavy on my stomach so I still don't eat them which is a bonus for me. I hope you find some way to stay thin too.
  6. Hello @Angieee I am sorry to hear about your dieting issues. Can I add a little information into this mix ? After bariatric surgery I ate 300 calories for about 6 months, I had surgery issues. I lost a shed load of weight, fast as you can imagine. I gradually increased to 900 calories as I could eat better, until about 18 months out. I then began to get hunger and struggled. I increased up to 1200 until I got to my desired weight. I now maintain on 1500 I believe you will loose weight doing this surgery but may not help you when you are at your desired weight as you may still gain on 1400 calories. We can not stay on tiny portions it makes us so weak.

You look amazing, such a difference. You have had the roughest ride and to hear that you are still having issues is so sad. I hope your second opinion works out for you. You deserve the luck. Let us know how you get on.

    HELLO…

@WendyJane I don't /didn't need any advice other than that of my team and members of this kind forum. If you have a spare 40 dollars a month the bully for you, lots don't. I don't save the money on my food bill. I shop for better quality, more nutritious foods. I don't think its helpful to mention the company when the name has not been asked for.

    HELLO…

@WendyJane I know you might not like this comment but I have held my tongue for a while. Can you please stop plugging a company that costs money. It sounds like you are on a commision to get new members. A dollar a day is a lot of wasted money when people can find all the information they need from people who have actually had the surgery and live with it.

    HELLO…

Hello Marisa, Congratulations on your up coming surgery. You have come to the very best place for advice and kindness. I think you are doing it tough giving up the cigarettes and going on a liquid diet at the same time. Both are very necessary though. We were all scared of the unknown before surgery. Try not to worry about specifics as it all slots in after surgery a lot easier than you think. Your team should give you your regime and it will not be the same as anyone elses. You need to follow that. We can help you if you tell us what you need to do.

December Peeps- How you all doing?

As you are saying you are struggling to take in 80 grams of protein a day, which is more than my 60 grams. I feel I must say that there is no research that this works. Also specialised hair products and medications are also shown not to work. The hair is dead already, what we shed after surgery is a symptom of that body shock. It is a speeded up process of what we would normally shed months in advance.

Not Losing - Please Tell Me There Is Hope

I would say it took me 26 months to get to a weight where I was happy. A lot more than others did but I had my issues. My size and age made me very disabled, exercising was a no-no. I got here though. I am living my best life.

    Meal Prep Ideas

My new favorite summer breakfast is Full fat cottage cheese with seedless black grapes sliced in. Everyone I have told says yuck no, but I love it. You could add extra protein powder to it.

    My biggest goal met!!

Love your goals. My hubby has a CPAP machine and although its a lifeline to him, I hate it. He looks to me, like someone on life support in bed. We can no longer spoon. I miss that. I secretly wanted to have 199 pounds as a goal but thought it was a pipe dream. I celebrated that day. Congratulations

What to do in the waiting period

I live in the UK where this surgery isn't as common as other parts of the world. Information was hard to find until my teams dietician told me about this site. I still use it to keep me in line. As I ended up waiting 8 months, I read all the back pages of this forum, There is so much information here. Number one rule - Do not buy loads of things for after surgery, Your taste buds may change in ways you can not understand now. We were all apprehensive about this big step into the unknown. We are all here for you when you need a little help along the way. Good luck

    Burping!

Oh yes I burp so loud I turn heads. I always did but its much worse now, so loud. I have used windeze tablets if I am out with strangers. I sometimes say , sorry I have stomach issues or that burger really didn't like me ! What can you do ?

    Lost but happened ....now what

I am so glad you came back in the forum. You have made the big step by admitting your weight gain. It happens. To me you have done great, only 50 pounds on in 13 years means you have been on it. I have seen this advice given to others - You need to prioritise protein, then veggies. Up your water. Try to quell the snacks. Exercise more. You need a calorie deficit. Good luck, you will get lots of help from other members who know more than me.

High in protein Pureed food Ideas…

Oh boy that doesn't sound quite right. Will other members of the forum chip in here in case this is something I missed. You will get a shed load of confidence once you are at your desired weight. That might help with the anxiety. Its true exercise makes us feel so much better about ourselves, especially outdoorsy stuff. I love to walk too. You have come to a great forum. You will only get kindness here.

    Liquid intake increase

When I am over full, I feel it in my throat now but my food will slip down if I go and do the dishes and tidy the kitchen. I have a fierce restriction so still can not eat and drink at the same time. I can have an fruit juice, ice lolly to help things along if I am really struggling.

High in protein Pureed food Ideas…

Everything sounds so difficult to begin with. Once you get thrown into it, its a lots easier than you thought. I obsessed about taking my meds and needn't have. My plan changed in two week cycles. I couldn't do puree, not my texture that. My surgeon didn't do shakes or protein powders so I drank a lot of milk, its higher in protein and cheap. I did do high protein yogurt and protein pudding though. He didnt ask and I didnt say. I love cheese, I would eat soft cheeses. Never be afraid to go back a step for a day or two. We are not all the same

What a Difference Two Weeks Makes!

Hello @Mama - Bee. I am wondering why this is an issue for you ? As its a surgery on the stomach and it really affects your hormones, the chances of getting nausea early on are a thing. They give you medication to deal with it if its a problem. I found that it was like being in the early stages of pregnancy. If I smelled food cooking or thought of food then the nausea would start. It didnt last very long though , maybe a couple of weeks. Also I had issues with excess stomach acid which made me queasy early on but being on PPI and a wedge pillow sorted that out. Don't worry about things that you may never have an issue with. Its not worth the stress.

    Failing at everything

I just want to reassure you that you will get better. I had the very worst start. My restriction is/was fierce. It took me months to eat and drink like I should be. I barfed all the time, the gerd was wicked and disturbed my every night. My team told me to do my best and followed me closely. I was really dehydrated. I hated all my favourite foods, cooking smells made me heave. Every day I tried hard to get in my water quota. It seemed so hard to do it. Then one day I did it. I felt so much better when I was hydrated. I found times when my PPI work best for me. I still hate my once favourite foods. Pasta is not on my menu, sweetners, oh no, also now allergic. Fish and chicken, especially salmon is rarely seen on my plate. You are early out and your new stomach isn't quite healed, It will get better, you will be ok.
