    Pre op diet

Hi Mel, I am in the UK too, Every surgeon is so different. I have read thousands of these post on here and there is no rhyme or reason for most. Like someone else stated - they need to do some research and not stick a pin in the list to find the pre op diet. It does seem brutal to make you do 6 weeks of 800 cals but I figure we will go through any hoop to get the surgery at this stage. Speak to the dietician at the hospital. We are paying loads of money to get this done, you dont need to be nauseous. Is the foods you are eating now very different to before - You might be having withdrawal symptoms. I have read they are bad. I hope you get sorted. Hugs

    Australian newbie

To make it worse we live in a flat. No garden space. The furthest I went was to the bathroom. I dream of the laughter and fun we used to have pre panini at Zumba and Aquafit. These classes are still off limits

    Gastric Bypass scheduled for 9-20!

I have to do your pre op diet too. What recipes have you come up with ? I was thinking I might try Thai salads, Thai soups. zucchini, aubergines and green beans in a good homemade tomato sauce. A curry. Any hints would be welcome because I am more worried about this part than the surgery

    Australian newbie

Then the dreaded Panini hit us all, haha so true for me. We had to stay in our house with the windows closed for 6 months and then for the following 9 months we were indoors but with windows open, weather permitting [ it was almost British winter by then] We needed lots of distractions and like you food became very important. One of the items most used was a panini/ toastie machine. It was like being back in the 1970's and it was the best new food ever.. 3 stone later and here I am. 2 months away from surgery and very unfit. We can do this

    Weight loss

These forums go back to early 2000's Pick a date and start reading and you will be able to find your perfect surgery fit. Then you can read the forum more suited to you. Myself and the surgeon came to the same decision on which type of surgery was for me. Sleeve.

Wait times privately in the UK?

Hello and welcome to this great site. My nearest private hospital was once Bupa and now is Spire. I started this process in late March. I saw the doctor at the end of April. I have been given my date, 10th November 2021.. I think many people have had the same thought that life is too short and the NHS is too busy to reinstate Bariatrics any time soon, So even going private isn't quick. I have had to see a raft of people to see if I am suitable. I dont know if the long wait time is due to the hospital being busy because of covid and the amount of surgery cases postponed by the NHS

Struggling with 2 week milk plan

When ever my surgery is [ let it be soon ] I have to do 3 weeks milk and veg pre op, I am dreading it but also want to start ! I was wondering if you are feeling rough because you are withdrawing from sugars and caffeine as well as the lack of food. I have read on here that it gets better after day 5. Grit your teeth and get through. Be ready to give me some advice when its my turn, Good luck

    finance for my gastric bypass

Hello Slamdunk, I am going to a Spire Hospital. If you look through their web site it has all sorts of info and telephone numbers. They are very approachable. See if they have one near you. FYI Banks offer the best interest rates if the hospitals dont do zero percent. Good luck

    Timeline of weight loss surgery

Hi PCOS mama94, welcome to this great site. I am in the Uk and the huge amounts of Covid here mean that for the last 16 months all hospitals have only dealt with that and the most urgent surgery. 15 months on we have a huge back log of people needing medical care. Here we have little to no chance of NHS bariatric surgery. Four months ago I decided to go private and have done psych evaluation, seen the bariatric nurses and signed for the surgery. Every day I hope for the 'date' Then I will have to do a milk and veg diet for three weeks.

    Excess skin?

Hi, I am in the UK too and waiting sleeve surgery and in my 60's. I have thought about the excess skin but put it away till its an issue, at least 12 months away. Like everyone else has said loosing the pounds is better. My weight is restricting my life at the moment and I am sick of it. I want my life back..

What are you looking forward to ?

10 years ago when I smoked and was fat, the doctors always said, deal with the smoking first, your weight is secondary to that. Now all the problems that they blamed on my smoking are now because of my weight .... I gave up smoking and in the last 10 years have gained 80 pounds. I gradually stopped going to see them unless its an emergency. Why should we be treated so differently. Is it a power trip for them because they know we have zero confidence from years of abuse ? lizonaplane and candace76 I know your hurt
  20. You look amazing, please go and jump straight into your new life with both feet. Its all waiting for you

What are you looking forward to ?

Yes I feel this way too. Many times I have the jitters at the last minute and dont go. Being told to isolate indoors during these covid times hasnt helped either. I feel as if I have to kick my self out of the door now

What are you looking forward to ?

I want so much, its possibly brattish. I want to wear my wedding ring and have no knuckle dimples I want my recently diagnosed Diabetes gone I want regular width shoes and no cankles I want to feel colder [ geez I am so hot] I am hoping to pee less in the night I want to walk up the aisle of a plane again without doing the sideways scoot, I want to put the tray table down, I dont want to scowl anymore at the already seated passengers who go in to panic when I loom near them. I want the choice to sit by the emergency doors. I want to put the arm rest down. I want to engage with children again without them asking why I am so big/fat I want my clothes to fit on the drying maiden again. I want to sit on any chair I want to go out without panicking, feeling a million dollars and stare people in the eye I want a new knee and be able to get off the floor without crawling to the door frame and pulling myself up. I really want to sit in my husbands lap again
