Lost but happened ....now what
summerseeker replied to Counting Carbs's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am so glad you came back in the forum. You have made the big step by admitting your weight gain. It happens. To me you have done great, only 50 pounds on in 13 years means you have been on it. I have seen this advice given to others - You need to prioritise protein, then veggies. Up your water. Try to quell the snacks. Exercise more. You need a calorie deficit. Good luck, you will get lots of help from other members who know more than me. -
High in protein Pureed food Ideas…
summerseeker replied to Mama_Bee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh boy that doesn't sound quite right. Will other members of the forum chip in here in case this is something I missed. You will get a shed load of confidence once you are at your desired weight. That might help with the anxiety. Its true exercise makes us feel so much better about ourselves, especially outdoorsy stuff. I love to walk too. You have come to a great forum. You will only get kindness here. -
When I am over full, I feel it in my throat now but my food will slip down if I go and do the dishes and tidy the kitchen. I have a fierce restriction so still can not eat and drink at the same time. I can have an fruit juice, ice lolly to help things along if I am really struggling.

High in protein Pureed food Ideas…
summerseeker replied to Mama_Bee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Everything sounds so difficult to begin with. Once you get thrown into it, its a lots easier than you thought. I obsessed about taking my meds and needn't have. My plan changed in two week cycles. I couldn't do puree, not my texture that. My surgeon didn't do shakes or protein powders so I drank a lot of milk, its higher in protein and cheap. I did do high protein yogurt and protein pudding though. He didnt ask and I didnt say. I love cheese, I would eat soft cheeses. Never be afraid to go back a step for a day or two. We are not all the same -
What a Difference Two Weeks Makes!
summerseeker replied to Beks18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello @Mama - Bee. I am wondering why this is an issue for you ? As its a surgery on the stomach and it really affects your hormones, the chances of getting nausea early on are a thing. They give you medication to deal with it if its a problem. I found that it was like being in the early stages of pregnancy. If I smelled food cooking or thought of food then the nausea would start. It didnt last very long though , maybe a couple of weeks. Also I had issues with excess stomach acid which made me queasy early on but being on PPI and a wedge pillow sorted that out. Don't worry about things that you may never have an issue with. Its not worth the stress. -
I just want to reassure you that you will get better. I had the very worst start. My restriction is/was fierce. It took me months to eat and drink like I should be. I barfed all the time, the gerd was wicked and disturbed my every night. My team told me to do my best and followed me closely. I was really dehydrated. I hated all my favourite foods, cooking smells made me heave. Every day I tried hard to get in my water quota. It seemed so hard to do it. Then one day I did it. I felt so much better when I was hydrated. I found times when my PPI work best for me. I still hate my once favourite foods. Pasta is not on my menu, sweetners, oh no, also now allergic. Fish and chicken, especially salmon is rarely seen on my plate. You are early out and your new stomach isn't quite healed, It will get better, you will be ok.

Spelt is the new in name that is being used in bread here. Probably sounds bettter than the old fashioned word. Emmer is a very old word I recognise from really old cook books, so we used that here back in the middle ages, peasant food. Porridge mostly. I love antique cook books. -

You are rocking your look. Very Amy Winehouse but with colour. Bet you turn heads. VaVa Voom lady. My biggest change is colour too. My go to colour is red. A big change from the - did not want to be seen fat person who thought black hid her. Yesterday it was a gorgeous summer day here and I had on a red minidress and as I had just returned from abroad I had a great tan. Heads were spinning. Ha, I loves it. I am 66 Ha. I think my biggest change has been the ' I don't give a f**k what you think' Confidence is a wonderful. I wore a bikini for the first time ever this holiday. I chose one with a little skirt to hide my extra skin but felt fine. Well done us. -

What's okay to make once you graduate to mush
summerseeker replied to Misa_Misa_9392's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
They are from a UK store called Marks and Spencers. They have a few stores in Europe but I am unsure about the US. I have heard that you can replicate it in the Airfryer/dehydrator. They are so satisfying, crunchy, salty and meaty all in a guilt free packet -

How very strange, Now I want to know the reason why ? I am lucky then because I have no issue with the microwave. Just as well because I always heat my food again as soon as I feel able to eat more, I still have a massive restriction.

What to do, am in a very difficult situation with my weight and options
summerseeker replied to Angieee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you opted for the surgery - you would loose weight for sure. BUT once at target you would still need to increase your calorie levels to a maintenance amount. Without much exercise my maintenance level is around 1500 - 1600 cals a day. To eat more I would need to increase my exercise drastically or I would gain. So when you maintain on similar calories, you will gain if what you say is true. If that is so, baritric surgery is not a fix for you. -
Size 24 to 14 in 7 months!

I tried to alter my clothes but found the neck and arm holes are so big that they end up in the wrong places. I have cut a few of my favorite pieces into quilting squares but there they sit, still waiting to be done. I have always bought from ebay or charity shops so I never have to bring cost into it. I love Joe Brown clothes, its the hippy in me. I will see one outfit in their catalogue that I like and look for it on Ebay. -
Anyone experience any benefits with green tea ???
summerseeker replied to Dub's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Nope tea wont make you loose an ounce. A bit off topic, I have never drunk tea, the one cup I remember drinking was after giving birth. It was sweet and wet and I was drained. I saw as a child what tea did to my parents cups, yuck, no thanks. I drank the only other thing available, corporation pop. 1950's english slang for water. Them days, coffee came in liquid form called Camp Coffee. It was made from chickory. One time mother was ill and dad made a meal and used this as gravy browning. {we like brown gravy here} We ate it because it was this or nowt. It was a week till mother worked out what we actually ate. So, after my rambling, I come to the point. Here I am sat in Greece drinking Iced Peach tea like it was going out of fashion. How my tastebuds have changed. This will defo not make me loose weight as it comes with a lump of baklava at this bakery. It would be rude not to. -
Sticking to post-op plan working 80 hour weeks?
summerseeker replied to Chrys Kiy's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
This is how simple and easy it could be. While showering, boil some eggs, add one egg to lunch box, stash rest in fridge for another day. My box would also contain cheese, add apple slices and peanut buttter to dunk apple in, Add packet protein crackers and deli meat. Add small salad , a protein shake and a protein yogurt or protein pudding. Small packs of nuts and jerky are great too. -

Next goal: 169. Not being obese anymore! At 187.2 now. Anyone else have this goal next or remember hitting it?
summerseeker replied to Selina333's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I took 2 years to get to my weight of 180, then 12 months to master maintenance. I had some issues and needed surgery and my weight then dropped to 165. I thought at my age I looked shocking and so much skin. I decided to increase my weight back to 180. Just some extra cals a day did the job in 3 months. I feel better at this weight. I am living with my skin, I dont really have a choice, as I could only afford one round and I feel I would look stupid half fixed. In the UK, we wear lots of clothes most of the year and I look ok in clothes. Its just now when on holiday, I wish I could. -
What we forget is the healing going on in our insides. Its a major cut to heal and as the others say go on your teams ok.
