  1. Hi all,

I'm 9 months post op and in the past two months I did not lose one pound. I eat a little bit more than before, but my eating habits are very good. I lost 65 pounds in total (I'm at 165 now) but would love to go down to 130lbs at least.

Is the weight loss done for me? I'm wondering if there was no more weight loss for any one of you after less than a year. I just want to mentally prepare myself if 160-165 is the lowest I will get :(

I know this post is almost seven months old, but I'm just wondering how you're doing with your acid reflux now? I'm where you are then, and though omeprazole helps tremendously, I don't want to be taking this forever (I've read horror stories about long-term usage of PPIs).

Hi and sorry for the late reply! I'm 9 months post op now and I don't get acid reflux anymore. Don't get me wrong, if I drink together and eat something heavy I'll feel uncomfortable but it's not acid. I still don't really eat spicy foods since whenever I do try a bite I might get a tiny bit of the acid back.

I, personally, think you're doing great. Everyone loses at a different pace and you started out at a much lower weight than many on this site and yet are losing a good amount. I wouldn't worry so much. Also, those weight loss calculators are all about average statistics. That includes the people who don't follow the diet guidelines as well as the people who do. As long as you stick to the dieting guidelines and get your exercise in then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to meet your goal. I wish you the best on your journey!

Thanks love! I am very strict with my diet, but unfortunately due to the nature of my job and a lack of time I haven't been able to get much exercise in :( I hope that changes by the end of this month!

  4. Hi all, while my surgery went great I don't really have much contact with my doctor so I have to ask all of you kind people here :) I had my surgery on 3/17 and started off at around 225-230. Right now I'm at 191 lbs - is this normal? I monitor my weight loss and between May 2 and June 2 (full month) I lost 9.2 lbs. I would love to reach 120lbs one day, do you think this is possible? Based on information I found online (such as gastric sleeve calculators) my goal weight seems almost impossible! What are your thoughts? Thank you all for answers in advance! ❤️

@fitgal2021 our stats are pretty similar (height and weight) and I had my sleeve done 1 day before you. I was 217 on the day of surgery this past Monday I was 198, so I've only lost 19 lbs since surgery, but I feel good about it because that is a lot of weight in a month. I expect my progress to slow even more since I was on the "smaller" side to begin with. I've had the same concerns as you though - how the heck will I ever make it to 140 lbs!?! But as long as I keep losing, I will trust the process, I'm just so used to getting so much weight off and then it won't budge so I give up... but now with surgery as a tool I'm hoping to keep my eating in check no matter what.

We really do have the same stats lol. I'm just worried that I'll lose a certain amount of weight, but not as much as I want to. I know it sounds childish, but I won't be 100% satisfied if, let's say, I get to 160lbs and won't go down from that. 140lb is like a minimum weight loss achievement for me.

At 3 weeks out I was eating 1200 calories a day. I could have eaten more, but my dietician said 1200...so that's what I did during all of weight loss phase.

I found that soft "slider" foods would go right through and I could eat a lot of them. When I started eating food with more texture, I found that I could only eat a small amount of them at a time.

Wow I'm three weeks post-op and I can't even get to 500 kcal per day. It's really difficult and I feel like anything other than chicken pureed with broth, greek yogurt and Protein Shakes gives me acid reflux :(

  7. Something my doctor has said to me repeatedly - if you need help, ask for it. Don't do it alone. In the clinic I had my surgery, we had a therapy session with a psychologist who begged us to ask for help when it's needed. You're losing weight which is wonderful, but if you feel like something isn't right - ask for help. You've came so far it would be silly to let it go and not continue on your wonderful journey. You can do it, I can do it. Ups and downs, through it all, know that you are on a journey to a better life and better health. Sending hugs and love ❤️

I definitely have experienced this. At first I found myself substituting shopping for eating (easy to do, having lost so much weight). Then I realized I was doing that and took a step back. Now when I feel that craving (whether for food or to buy something) I stop and ask myself why? What's going on that I am trying to assuage or pacify? Not long ago, I really wanted a cookie and when I stopped to ask myself why, I realized that I had just come out of a meeting that did not go as well as I had hoped. I felt disappointed, embarrassed, upset. And I wanted a cookie. Once I realized what was at the root of my craving, I was able to redirect those feelings. I got a cup of coffee instead. It was warm and sweet and about 200 fewer calories than the cookie. And I took it and went and sat around the backside of the building where it was quiet and peaceful (being an introvert, that was comforting to me). I thought through what had happened and what to do next as I drank my coffee. And 30 minutes later I was good to go. Every situation is different, but I'm getting better at asking myself "What's going on? Why do you want that?"

Girl you just said exactly what I discovered a few days ago (I'm 3 weeks post-op). I'm not hungry, but sometimes I just CRAVE and I stopped myself several times - but why? It's usually the same thing for me as for you, meetings that go the way I planned, missed deadline, overall anxiety.

  9. Very excited for you! I'm three weeks post-op and found that liquid vitamins work much better for me than chewables (aside from B12, that chewable is fine).

I actually regret not taking a small "neck" pillow. The pillows they had at the hospital I went to weren't all that, so I was putting rolls of clothing under my neck to make myself feel more comfortable. As per all the other stuff, I didn't even brush my teeth for the first two days because I had no energy 🤣

Drinking Water will be hard. I'm sure you've read this already but sip, sip sip and sip again. You'll feel annoyed you have to take a sip all the time (at least I did), but it really helps.

    Good luck! ❤️

    Hi!

You may find that your energy will ebb and flow for a while. That’s pretty normal. The tired weak feeling should get better in time, the further out from surgery you are.

Some reasons you may feel this way are lack of (metabolism assisting) Vitamins like the B’s and not enough hydration. Hydration goes a little deeper that just the right amount of liquids, you also need electrolytes.

The PPI’s (Proton Pump Inhibitors) are prescribed for a few month. It takes time for the surgical inflammation to go away. Confirm with your surgeon how long they expect you to stay on them.

It’s only been three weeks since surgery, things should get better gradually.

    Good Luck ❤️

Thanks a lot! ❤️ I am very strict with my Vitamins, that's the only thing I can keep up with for now. Didn't think of drinking electrolytes though, this definitely might help. When it comes to acid reflux medication, I'm okay with taking it and it helps a lot, I just hope it's not some medication I'll have to live on for the rest of my life :(

If you are dehydrated that causes weakness. Have you considered calling dr to see if they can orchestrate you getting some fluids. They can do it out patient at hospital and others have said they have iv bars and people that come to your house even. That may be a good place to start.

My doctor is like six hours away from me so I doubt that's possible :( But the more I read the more I realize it might be because I'm not drinking enough Water. This is tough lol!

  12. Hi loves,

It's been three weeks since my gastric sleeve surgery. Overall I'm feeling fine, but I'm starting to feel weaker as the days go by. It's really difficult for me to get all the Water down (there are days where I can't do more than just 32oz). Eating pureed food doesn't hurt me, but the acid reflux I get after is terrible. Today I woke up almost crying, that's how bad it was. I took some medication and of course it went down, but I don't want to take that medication forever?? How far apart are your meals? I'm fine with eating pureed chicken and some broth, but anything else is quite difficult. Most of the Protein I'm getting is from whey powders (I found that 60g with a cup of broth doesn't taste bad).

    Thank you all!
