Lying about not getting surgery is awful

Keeping personal medical procedures, conditions and diagnosis private is not lying and does not mean people are ashamed. Some people prefer their privacy.

Lying about not getting surgery is awful

wow...shaming people to reveal personal medical information is just as bad as shaming people to keep quiet. It is about freedom to choose how to live your life and how to connect with others in your life. For me, WLS was a very personal decision that I spent over a year thinking about and meditating on. So, my decision to only tell my spouse is no one's business and frankly, trying to shame those of us who choose to keep our WLS private, pisses me off. Shame on you!

Pants vs. dress right after surgery

I wore loose cotton sweatpants. They hang below my belly button, so never touched my incisions.
  7. Hi Everyone! New to the forum. Decided after years of being overweight and uncomfortable in my own body, to finally take care of me. Have had all my pre-op testing. Passed everything with no issues. Hoping to hear from pre-op coordinator on my surgery consult date next week. Would love to get surgery scheduled by the end of April! Ready for a better, healthier version of me! 😊
  8. The night you go to sleep and notice that lying on your side with your knee bones pressing together is really uncomfortable...so you have to put a pillow between your knees because you no longer have the fat cushion. Yep, I'm there! 😂
  9. mouth spray - definitely! I didn't take a heating pad and was one of the lucky ones who didn't have much pain. But I would take one, just in case. I knew I was only staying one night, so the comfy clothes I wore day of surgery, I wore home. Only brought a change of undies and socks. Toothbrush, mouthwash, phone/charger. Nothing else. My suggestion for after surgery, when you are back in your room is to walk as much as possible. I think that really helped with the gas pain, as I did not have much of that either. I walked, drank water, and rested all thru the evening, night and the next morning until discharged. I was nauseous a couple of times, but that went away as soon as I would get up to walk around. Cannot wait for you to have your surgery! Hope it goes as well as mine and you recover quickly. It really is a process. Follow your drs plan and keep drinking water. I did struggle the first few days with drinking water, but kept on top of it and it got much better by day 3. My dr told me that...the more you drink, the easier it gets. He was right! So excited for you!

    Biggest to now with photo

You look amazing! Love the tee! Congrats!
  11. The cream soups are actually really good. Cream of Mushroom is my favorite. I can only eat quarter of a can right now mixed with water. Fills me right up. And doesn't bother my stomach at all. I went thru the caffeine withdrawal before surgery. I was a 3-5 cup a day junkie. Last week, I tried to drink a cup of decaf and it did not taste right. So I waited a couple of days and tried again...still tasted funny. It will be interesting to see what other things I used to eat that I no longer care for as time goes on. Hope you get over the withdrawal fog quickly!

    Protein taste issues

Fairlife is the only protein drink I like since surgery. The others taste terrible now. Very strange how our tastebuds change.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

I have that odd little side effect too! My next follow appt with dr, I am going to ask him about it.
  14. I am doing great! Still doing mostly liquids and cream soups. Eggs are a no go! Got really sick. Which I am kinda bummed about because I really like eggs. But I still don't really have any hunger...there has been a few times I thought I was hungry, but then I drank some lemon tea and it went away. As of yesterday, I am down 31lbs from my HW and 27lbs from my SW. Had a 3 day stall...but then it was back to losing. I need to try some soft vegs..but I'm a bit scared. The whole egg fiasco was not fun. Your surgery date is coming up! May 18th, right? How is the pre-op diet going?
  15. Good Luck! You got this!!

    Hungry! Post op 2 weeks

I found when I have any type of feeling that resembles hunger, i drink hot lemon or ginger tea. The feeling immediately goes away! Good Luck!

    Weight loss stall

I had a 4 day stall last week, then Saturday, the scale started to move again. I think it is our bodies recalibrating, then on to the next lower level. Just stick to your plan, and the scale will start moving again! 😊
  18. Congratulations!! That is an amazing accomplishment! So happy for you!

    My WLS Story

Congrats on your surgery date! Sending positive vibes your way as you take the next step to a healthier you!
  22. It just happened naturally when I was on the 2 week pre-op diet. I was so focused on what I needed to do to ensure I was able to get the surgery and after the surgery, I have had no hunger at all. And through all that I am feeling better, and thinking about all the fun activities and outings this summer and food is just not on my mind. I went to my post op drs appt the other day and drove past all these fast food places and thought, wow, none of them sounded appealing AT ALL. I actually had a feeling of revulsion when I thought about the food I used to eat at most of them. My desire for that type of food is gone...it's as if I had surgery on my brain instead of my stomach! 😁
  23. I am only a little over a week out and even with all the current restrictions and the occasional uncomfortableness of drinking too fast, I already know it is one of the best decisions I have ever made! I used to wake up thinking about food...that food focused mindset is completely gone! I wake up thinking about what I want to accomplish today and who I will see! It's truly life changing!
