Welcome to the forum LastOption, My advice to you is to do what is best for you! This is your body, as well as your decision. It took me a long time to come to this decision. I've been there done that, you name a diet, I bet I've tried it. I also lost weight on WW, approximately 40+ pounds, and guess what, yep gained half of that back. I started the band process before I had the chance to gain back the other half, and I must say, although I'm only three weeks post-op I am very happy with my decision. Good luck in your journey, and remember you will always have our support here on LBT!
  5. Hey slim, Don't feel bad, I was going to have my last big meal on Labor Day. However, when I went to my pre-op class on 8/28 they decided to change my date to 9/8/08. My original surgery date was - get this, SEPT. 29, so I was really p.o'd because I had to start the Optifast diet immediately, that day! But in the end, it was well worth it, just be thankful that your date was moved up because it could have been postponed. All in all, I will keep you in my prayers.:girl_hug:

Thanks for all of the well wishes ladies. I must say after 2+ weeks, I feel really good, and I am so glad that I have the support of you all on this website. Because some people are acting shady already, and I've only lost 20 pounds, I can imagine how they are going to act by the time summer rolls back around. Ah well, it's their loss. I still have all of my band sistahs, so who needs them. Thanks again for all of the support ladies, I really do appreciate it. :girl_hug: Smooches...

Hi ladies, Dyesha, congrats on your decision to get the lap band. I had my first consultation on 7/2/08, and I weighed in, they asked a lot of questions about my family and personal medical history. I also met with the nutritionist, she asked me questions about my eating habits. Which were good because I was still doing Weight Watchers. Then I had my psych evaluation on 8/12, next I had a 3 hr. pre-op class on 8/28, and bloodwork with my primary physician on 9/3, and my surgery on 9/8/08. I know you only asked about the first appointment, but I thought I'd give you a little more. Due to the insurance I have the process went rather quickly. Good luck with your journey, and remember you will always have support from us here!:girl_hug:
  9. I am very sorry to hear this, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
  10. I have a 10cc band as well, and my doctor said that he pre-filled it will only 1cc. I must say, I was banded on Sept. 8 and my stomach didn't growl until Sept. 14, but as of now, I get extremely hungry after 2-4 hours after I've eaten something. So, I am looking forward to my first fill. I either drink water or eat ice chips just in case I am really not hungry. If that doesn't work than I get something to eat.

Thanks for the well wishes ladies. I'm doing better day-by-day, I was having a hard time getting all of my Protein in so, I went to the VitaminShoppe and bought some liquid Protein shots. Each one has 42 grams of protein in it. I also brought some Protein drinks, that are not that great tasting but if it helps me get in my protein I can tolerate it. The drinks have a total of 40 grams of protein. I can't drink the whole 20 oz at one time so I try to at least drink half of the bottle. I'm still sore, and I've been back to work since 9/16, but I took off 9/17, and I'm back today. Yesterday was the first day that I didn't have any meds, and I am so proud. I'm trying to get in as much walking as I can, and starting 9/22, I will be going back to the "Y" and start back walking on the treadmill. The weight is kind of coming off faster than I anticipated, but I know once I go back to regular foods that probably will slow down. But for now, I am going to run with it. I wish all my band sistahs sweet success! Oh yeah, I forgot to say that my stomach did not growl until 9/14/08, and it seems like it hasn't stopped, I have noticed that I am hungry more often.
  12. Hello all, I had my surgery yesterday, and I'm going good. I didn't have any gas pain at all, the worst pain was in my throat from the breathing tube. I could barely talk until today. All in all it went smoothly for me, and I hope everyone else to come goes as smooth. I'm going to go and try and take a nap, I only sleep for three good hours in the hospital, although I stayed overnight. I will post my experience later, my computer chair is not that comfortable. I will touch base soon ladies! Many blessings and speedy recoveries to all!

  15. My surgery date has been bumped up to 9/8/08, and I found out last Thursday at the pre-op class. So, I had to start the Optifast diet immediately, has anyone else experienced so moodiness. I'm trying to figure out if the moodiness is coming from the diet or from PMS....
