    Alcoholic Drinks

Vodka and orange juice or sugar free margarita by Jose Cuervo
  2. Just let the nurse that checks you in know. I had mine show up the day before. They will make sure that you have pads and are able to put your underwear on right after. I was able to get up myself and use the bathroom as needed so it wasn’t to bad.
  3. Check out roadid.com I used to wear one when I ran. It’s very discrete but well known to emergency personnel. It’s comfy and durable and you can wear it anywhere!

    Lost

You might not be able to talk your family into approving so prove to them by showing them the amazing results of good health and confidence! Sounds like you get the clots before  surgery and it’s possible you will get them after so I guess the risk is there either way. I dont have a blood clot disorder, but my surgeon and the hospital went above and beyond to make sure I didn’t get one. Shots in my belly 3x a day of heparin, leg pumps on while not walking, and encouraged to walk as often as possible. Hopefully knowing you are do high risk they would be extra cautious. When I was at the point you are health wise I was like I have lost enough already and this surgery was an opportunity to give me my life back and it did just that! Your families concerns and fears are justified, but ultimately in the end they can watch you fight for your life right now or doctors try to save it later.

    I joined the gym.

That’s a huge accomplishment to be proud of!
  9. Hi, I just started a new Vitamin Celebrate One 45. It’s a large capsule so I was surprised my dietician recommended it. I have been fine on the other Vitamins I have taken up until this one. Within 20mins of taking it I got nauseated and just felt off. Has anyone had any issues with this one? Not sure if it’s bc it’s so big, or if just being new I need to get used to it. I have a call out to my dietician but she doesn’t call back for several weeks and my surgeon says call the dietician lol. Not sure if I should try it again tomorrow to see if I get used to it. The only time o ever had an issue with a Vitamin was when I took a Iron pill years ago and it instantly made me sick… maybe to much iron in this? Any thoughts?

    What fears did you have?

Hi all! All of your fears and questions are completely expected, but instead of what if I can’t, start asking yourself what if I can! You can do it all and really what choice do you have? I told me self I can save my life now or fight for it later! I had my sleeve done 6/5. The hardest part is choosing to put yourself first and just do what you gotta do each day! My husband took me to surgery and was not allowed to come back until pick up the following day due to covid rules. I was just fine in my own. Since I didn’t have anyone to sit and chat with I walked a lot and just focused on learning all I needed. It’s really alot to think about and learn but it just all sort of falls into place. You all got this and will soon be into new adventures!

    Air bubble?

Yes!! It’s completely normal. My surgeon said it’s because the pouch the allowed the air to pass through no longer exists. Had me nervous for a while. I’m 5 weeks post op and I don’t notice it as much anymore.

    Was this a mistake?

It will get better!!! 3 weeks seems to be when things start to look up! Just try to stay as busy as possible. Walking is a great distraction! I really missed drinking in large gulps and at 3 weeks I could! Use this time to research puréed and soft food recipes bc it will give you foods to look forward to. Once your on puréed it seems like the cravings go away… good you can’t have still of course looks good, but I felt more satisfied so it felt better. Pain went away and I felt like I made the right decision! I am almost 5 weeks and I do more then I did before. I walk 3mi per day, kayak and pretty much whatever I want!

    3 days post-op questions

Mine also lasted until week 3 then it just disappeared! I’m week 4 now. Walk as much as you can, It really really helps overall! If I could avoid wearing jeans out then I would sneak unbuttoning them while I sat bc they really irritate the stitch near the belly button! Good luck!!

    Eating too much?

I am 1 month post op. In the morning I eat 1 egg with a 1/2 piece of cheese mixed in. 8oz Shake through out the am. Lunch 1 and 1/2 deli meat roll up ( 1 slice of low sodium ham or low sodium turkey, 1/2 slice cheese and light Mayo, then I roll it up), 2.5 oz egg or chicken salad snack, dinner 3oz protein (chicken, shrimp, scallops) and 1oz veg. 8oz protein shake after dinner. I only drink water and Gatorade zero all day (besides shakes)… just an example of what I have tried so far.

    BEST NUTRITION TRACKING APP

I use Baritastic. I really like that it lets you scan bar codes and has a lot of tracking options. It’s very easy to use.

I’m 3 weeks out and still have an incision that hurts and feels like tearing! The absolute worst pain was sneezing during the first 2 weeks lol! It definitely gets better around week 3, but move the wrong way and it reminds you it’s still there! I pretty much do everything I did pre-op at this point.. sleep in my bed, clean the house, walk 2-3mi per day up hill mostly. I just don’t lift over 10lbs.

@laurenantics I had my surgery 6/8. I was not to change into my own nightgown if I wanted, but I actually just put shorts on under their gown and put a robe over to walm around. I had an iv in until discharge. To walk around I had to push the iv pole with me. I did no shower bc I was only there over night, but showered as soon as I got home. I drank slot of water prior to surgery. The morning of surgery the surgeon required me to drink a regular 20oz Gatorade 2 hrs before arrival. Good luck to you! It’s not easy, but definitely worth it! Your asking great questions!

Hey all! Just offering some hope to anyone struggling… I’m 3 weeks post op today and sitting pool side at our very large local water park while the kids play. I have ventured into the wave pool and lazy river since my incisions are healed. Just no water slides yet lol. Brought my shakes and meals with me. Oh and I’m wearing a tangkini… left my usual tshirt snd shorts home. Good excuse to sit around and relax. Wishing you all beautiful water park days ahead! ☀️

Hello everyone, I’m so glad to have all of you! All of the comments have helped me to feel like I’m not alone and supported! Unless you have been through this it’s hard to explain to other supports what it’s like. Im finding that it really is a unique journey that we are on!

@santa Barbarian I was so worried about nausea as well!! Glad you are doing good! Sounds like your doing all the right stuff! I’m almost 3 weeks out and still have some soreness near my belly button. Walking helps a ton! Don’t only walk, but enjoy it! Every pound you drop and goal you reach makes it all worth it! Wishing you continued success!

I’m actually dropping more weight bc of the slight calorie increase believe it or not! I am hitting the protein goals bc of the shakes and alot of eggs, but I have a hard time meeting calories, but that’s ok. I am suppose to eat 6 1-2oz meals a day, but I am just meeting that at the end of the 1st week of purée. At first I could only do 1oz and only did 4 meals. Now going into the 2nd week of purée I can almost do 2oz per meal and fitting in about 5 meals per day.

I dreaded the purée stage, but I gotta say I love it now lol. I love the ricotta bake, choooed eggs with fat free Mayo and a touch of mustard, canned chicken in the chopper with light Mayo and my fav is fat free refried beans with a little shredded cheese and a drop of sour cream. I still do protein shakes in between means and absolutely addicted to SF popsicles still lol. They give me that crunch and just feel like a treat. Looking forward to soft food but still researching what to eat and how to add some excitement to that stage lol

@Ffmgl I had mine 6/8 and recently went about 5 days with no weight loss. Then 2lbs gone in 2 days. I walk a lot and follow the food to a T. I think it’s just part of the cruel process lol! Glad your doing well!!!

    Hi I’m new here

Your already on the right track! Love the idea of the travel mug with a strainer! You will definitely use that! The chopper will definitely help! I use a little one right now in the purée stage, makes things so much easier! I also use little 2oz cups with lids to freeze all my purées in and they gave helped so much! The stages seem to fly by! I think being as prepared as you are already is going to help tremendously!
