Awesome! Whatever you decide to "celebrate" with, be sure it is protein-based, moist (don't try eating dry foods) and very small portions. I've found that my tastes have changed dramatically, and foods I love and looked forward to eating don't taste good. In some ways this is a benefit since I don't feel like "cheating." In any event, start slowly and stick with the Protein first then veggies, fruits (go slow) and maybe hold off on complex carbs for another couple weeks.

May 14th HW 2 weeks before surgery 280, SW 269 day before. Last Sunday 243.
I am following a generic plan they give all there patients. 1 week Clear Liquids, week 2 full liquids week 3 puree and week 4 soft food.
I was craving hot cheetos, I just licked a whole bag. I have honestly regretted this since the second week I miss food so much , I miss enjoying food with my family every Sunday like we used too. I have cried alot.

So close to hitting 20lbs down. At 3 weeks post-op I’m down 19.6 from my weight prior to the 2 days clear fluids before surgery. (I don’t know my weight on day of surgery as they did not weigh me)
I’m not a higher BMI (36.3 pre-surgery) so a little shocking to me that I have lost so much in the first month. I have 100% met (exceeded) my Protein & fluid goals. Protein Avg is 88g. So, the question now is when will the infamous stall hit…

Yes 16 is the magic number! 😂 that’s great for being 2 weeks out!!
I completely understand that is it frustrating! I just keep thinking it will work out and pay off in the long run! Try concentrating on the non scale victories during this time.

Yes. Focus on the non-scale victories. Do your measurements weekly and you will still see progress even with no movement on the scale. I am in a week three plateau and just won’t let it get me down.

Same here. Surgery on May 19th and lost only 14/15 lbs (depending on the day) so far since surgery. THAT'S IT! I chalk it up to this famous stall everyone seems to talk about. Sucks but I'm hoping it will move soon. Plus TOM is due to visit next week (he came the day before surgery for me....lol) so I'm thinking that is affecting it too. Trying to keep all that in mind before I panic. LOL

It’s progress not perfection we’re seeking. Be gentle with yourself. You’re back on track and focused again.

I’ve definitely had the burping issue. I think it’s because sometimes I am trying to finish the whole 1/4 cup of food and it’s just too much at that time. My dietitian said it can be a sign I’m just full. Or maybe it’s just because I’m always talking and inhaling too much while I eat 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m just glad to hear I’m not the only burper out there 😆

Hi all. Just found this forum and I'm excited to read other people's experiences. I'm coming up on 1 month post surgery. May 18th was my sleeve. I'm currently down about 33 lbs since surgery. My doctor has me eating fish, turkey and cooked vegetables. Amazingly, I've never once vomited after eating and my reflux has been pretty non-existent. The one thing I've found frustrating is getting tired pretty quickly while exercising or doing yard work. Things I used to do before without a problem are really tiring me out. I guess I just have to remember my body is adjusting to the much lower calorie intake, which means less energy for now.

1 month update: I lost 34.5 total (since 5/1) and 23.5 since surgery (5/11). I feel great, try to walk about 2 miles a day and do a lot of work around the house, including gardening. I found I can eat almost anything, as long as at each meal I eat 2 oz or less (definitely have to scale everything). I end up eating about 5 meals a day, and I am able to get the 80 grams of Protein as I focus a lot on fish. I've adventured to try (in small bite-sized quantities) other things: ground meat/burger (without bun, of course), 1 rib (that was not too great --it's a bit too fatty). Have not really tried raw foods yet, except tomatoes. Have definitely noticed that need to keep drinking to be hydrated. There are some days where I am not as careful and then I need to take 3-4 hours to rehydrate, including my body waking me up during the night to go get Water. I am not hungry and it's great! (I used to be sooo hungry before, all the time!) I wonder whether people who never gained weight always have felt like I feel now (with no hunger..): It is very liberating, to be honest, to not have that thing in your stomach and head tell you that you're hungry. Thank you for listening! Hope everyone else is doing well!

I don't understand how they think you can get that many calories in in 3 meals a day. I am still not able to get that many calories throughout the day either, and I am still drinking 1-2 Protein Shakes a day just to get enough Protein. I'm so sorry you've had such a bad time this past week. Diverticulitis is the worst!

I had surgery May 5th; have lost 17 pounds. However, for the last week I’ve had diverticulitis. Maybe it’s the antibiotics, but I am so weak. All I want to do is sleep. This isn’t good… I contacted the clinic. They said it’s because I am not getting enough Protein and calories. They never told me the number of calories to be consumed each day. I’ve been getting 500. They said I need to double that but only eat 3 meals/day. food stays a long time in my pouch, and so far I haven’t been able to eat much at a time. With what they want me to eat, along with the tiny portions only three times a day…. it doesn’t make much sense to me how I will get in 1,000. Anyone else run into this?

Hi all, 1 month post surgery today, I've lost 40 lbs overall , 20 since surgery. I've been experiencing the dreaded 3 week stall, its frustrating but not unexpected with all the forums about it out there. I started riding my bike again, I don't like walking and started a at home exercise regime. Doing yard work is my best exercise! I'm trying to get more than 600 calories a day, it's tough when I'm not hungry, I've been focusing on getting Protein. I don't miss my Diet Dr. Pepper habit, which i thought would be the hardest part. food selection hasn't been too bad, I do like the ricotta bake, I add shrimp and mushrooms. sugar free Jello for Snacks and tons of yogurt. I can start regular foods next week but I don't expect I'll be getting too adventurous until I get further out. . I've had a few colleagues ask me if I've lost weight as my face they see on Teams calls is much thinner, I've told a few and not ashamed by it. We booked a trip to Nassau, Bahamas next month and I look forward to not being the beached whale. Hope you all the best, John..

I had multiple food allergies as an infant and toddler and became a chubby kid with a mom that restricted my eating. At age 7 my mother committed suicide and I began stealing candy from the local drug store. I hated vegetables, loved carbs, cheese and fried foods. I was alternatively rewarded and cajoled for my eating.
I managed my weight in early adulthood by doing 500 calorie a day diets and staying active. I gained 80lbs with each of my pregnancies, and stopped nursing my second child early so I could do a calorie restrictive diet. I got down to almost normal weight, then started gaining, weighing 280 lbs in my mid thirties. I divorced my husband, lost some weight, started working out. Decided I'd just get comfortable being 50-60lbs overweight and was for fifteen years. By the time I hit my 50's I was steadily gaining, then losing (no carb diets, doctor supervised diets, calorie restricted diets, personal growth programs - because certainly there was something wrong about me that I could fix!) I was depressed, borderline diabetic and took meds for blood pressure, thyroid disease, fibromyalgia, PPI for reflux and used a CPAP.
I gained an additional 40lbs during the pandemic because I literally decided I would eat anything I wanted - and I did. Shortly after the first of this year, I realized I was constantly thinking about dying. The only future I saw was of my continual decline. I could see no way to interrupt the path of my life. Then, I saw a post of an acquaintance on Facebook who had VSG four years ago. She looked fabulous and seemed so happy. I contacted her and we met for lunch. I began to consider surgery and started doing my homework on it. When my insurance turned me down, I again reached out to my friend who had gone to Mexico to have hers. She offered to accompany me if I decided to do it. I discussed it with my kids. I met with my doctors and told them what I was thinking. They all supported the surgery, although one was concerned about me traveling for it. I researched the surgeon, found Bariatricpal.com and read some of your stories. I journaled and wrote about my big why, and I began to have hope for my future. I started to imagine my life without the shame and fear around eating and food. I called everyone I knew who'd had bariatric surgery and asked them about their experiences. Finally, I called my Facebook friend back and told her I was committed. I paid my deposit, scheduled the surgery and I haven't looked back once.

Oh ugh, that sounds awful! I was in the hospital with a young woman who'd had VSG the same day and she was and is still having bouts of it too.
I have both Celebrate chewable vitamins that I find disgusting and Bariatric Fusion chewable multis that taste too chalky to me so I quit taking them. Every day was a battle to keep them down anyway. I found Vitafusion Women's Multi gummies at costco and though they have 3g of sugar in 2, they are palatable and I feel like they are better absorbed. I take two per day, plus two Vitafusion Fiber Well gummies (sugar free), one Caltrate (it's chalky too, but smaller than the multi's: Vitamin D, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc etc.) and oneCelebrate B-12 quick melt.
I hope you turn a corner soon on your nausea! Take care, friend.

banana ALMOND MILK is my savior. I love it so much. Far less carbs than bananas which I love in smoothies and have missed terribly.
I mix 1/2 cup with chocolate PB2 and a single serving Fage Greek Yogurt along with a couple drops of chocolate stevia. This is my 23 gram Protein Shake I drink every morning. 180 calories 13 carb 23 Protein.
The other things I eat at least a few times a week and always need in the house:
1% cottage cheese with a teaspoon of REAL Ranch dressing and a small finely chopped Tomato.
Crack An Egg with the ham or bacon added only.
Peel and eat shrimp with cocktail sauce from Whole Foods.
    Old Wisconsin Turkey bites
    Rotisserie chicken.
    Riced cauliflower
Fresh Apples or right now Pears (perfect this time of year but a lot of sugar so just a slice or two at a time)
93% lean cooked Ground beef and crunchy taco shells with a good fresh pico.
    Brie
    pretzels
This is pretty much my diet at 4 months post op.

Every paying customer deserves a respectful and pleasant experience. Yes, it’s Red Robin, but that doesn’t mean a server should be unprofessional.

On the topic of waiters... I just spent a week in Naples, FL on vacation. At one restaurant (upscale, indeed), the waitress - who was amazing, btw - told us she pulls "a couple thousand" a week. Didn't mention what a "couple" means....
At a different restaurant (lunch-type, less posh), the waiter told us he's on track to make six figures this year. Both in their early twenties. We asked about cost of living and both mentioned renting 2bd apartments for $1,400-$1600 a month, split with roommates.
If I were young and hungry, I'd chase the money and move around where things are happening.
