  1. I think it’s important that you are just honest. The psychiatrist I seen did not ask a lot of questions and I literally just left a message today to try to schedule an appointment with a specialist because I feel I have issues with food that I need to work on. Having already had the surgery I am racing against the clock to figure them out before I waste this tool. We all have been there dying to get the surgery even one week sooner at all costs but you will not get flat out denied if anything it will just be delayed but that time will be well spent preparing you to be In the best place after your surgery. So what seems devastating having to wait could mean the difference between the surgery helping you to the full extent.

  2. I told a very small group of people beforehand cause I just needed to do it for myself but now that it is said and done I am more open. I think people like everything else in life are as private of a person as they are and they will share as much or as little as they are comfortable sharing. Some people are just very private in all parts of their life.

My gastric sleeve surgery was scheduled for May 14 and my doctor's office called today to tell me that the insurance declined the procedure. We are back to square one now... They are sending an appeal tomorrow. Hoping it will get approved sometime soon... Good luck to all May surgeries! :824_white_flower:

I’m so sorry to hear this. Hopefully the appeal will go through.

I really don’t even mind when my hubby eats junk food in front of me. I have had a slice of pizza and it actually made me sick to my stomach after a bite or two. I have found that when I am craving pizza, I take a few pepperoni and pizza sauce and put it on a cauliflower crust and call it pizza! I just improvise and find a new normal “junk” food :). A few bites and I am full and that itch is scratched!!
The one thing I haven’t figured out how to improvise for is bubbles!!! I miss bubbles, but I have learned to love Water.

I just had cauliflower crust pizza tonight. I love it. Top it with ricotta and cheese cause I like white pizza then peppers, onions and loads of chicken breast. It’s delicious.

  5. I have to eat much slower than I did before but not quite two minutes between bites. Sorry you experienced this. So far I have not vomited since surgery but I’m sure I will do Something my new tummy dislikes soon. It’s probably better that you are now like this. For the long term goal of keeping the weight off, I mean, Im sure it’s will be easier if your body gives you no choice but to slow it down.

  6. I wasn’t allowed to shower till day three so I didn’t need Shampoo or conditioner. I used my body wash with a wash cloth, my toothbrush and paste, deodorant and chap stick (which they also gave me one of those) I would have loved to have the dry mouth spray but that only lasts a few hours. I brought my phone and iPad and watched Netflix the whole time when I was awake but slept a lot. The hospital did provide toothbrush and toothpaste but I used mine since I brought it. Pack light, your visitors can always bring you things if you need them. I left some things out on the dresser that I thought I might want so I could ask hubby to bring them but didn’t need anything else.

  7. So the psychologist I seen before my surgery didn’t ask any questions about my eating habits and seemed more like a rubber stamp sort of deal. There were four doctors on the list though and I am thinking about seeing one of the others because I am two months out and I am starting to be able to eat more and want to eat more times a day than I am supposed to. I basically always want to eat when I am board and sometimes when I am stressed or anxious. Is this an eating disorder? Can a therapist really help with this. I am still losing weight but I worry as I can eat more and more at a time and once the hunger hormones come back that I may not be in the best place to win this battle. Any advice?

Any idea when the pain should subside a bit? I’m on day 8 and still in a load of pain. It’s gotten worse over the past 2 days.

I would call the doctor if pain is getting worse. I have not heard anyone say pain got worse.

My boyfriend brought my engagement ring a month or two back (mom can't keep a secret and told me). I wonder if it will fit when he finally pops the question?! I'm 3 month post surgery...

Maybe ask your mom to be the thoughtful and prepared one with a ring gaurd on hand so when you “tell her” that he popped the question she can offer up the ring gaurd so you can wear it for a while safely without losing before you have it sized.

  10. I weigh every day but it’s fluctuates and I have to just watch for downward trend and ignore when it goes up a pound for a day or two. It used to bother me but now I realize that when it goes up a pound it usually goes down two a day or two later which balances out.

Today is my one month anniversary. Overall, I've been doing ok.

However, the past few days, my little tummy is not happy in the morning. I usually have 8 oz of Water while I prepare for work so I can hydrate first thing in the morning. Then I have a Protein Shake when I first get to work so I can get that out of the way and start the day with a nice load of Protein. But, now my tummy says that a Protein shake is a no no first thing in the morning. An egg is a no no. Yogurt just doesnt do it for me. So, I've tried lunch for Breakfast. That works ok. BUT, now I am also hungry in the morning or something is happening with my stomach. It feels like it wants more substance. I'm on the soft foods stage.

Does anyone who is also in the soft foods stage have any recommendations for Breakfast? If I don't drink the Protein Shake first thing in the morning, I also seem to get a little behind with protein for the day. Its hard to catch up once I get really busy with work. Any suggestions?

My little tummy has been a happy camper so far. Just started getting pickier during the weekend. LoL.

Have you tried the unflavored Protein Powder? You could mix it in a smoothie? Or crystal light, maybe. I’m not a big fan of Water but I just tried it in water to see and it’s horrible (it’s not truly unflavored) but I put it in my smoothies and can’t taste it. Also have you tried any of the clear Protein Drinks such as premiere protein fruit punch? You could rehydrate and get protein in first thing with that then eat something that doesn’t upset your tummy.
