I just downloaded this book. I’m going to work on it tonight. Still very anxious and fighting the urge to take an edible. I know why I’m doing it. It takes away all my thought and I escape from my anxiety for a few hours. I’m going to search for a therapist that will take my coverage tomorrow.

If you find it as difficult as I did to find one local keep in mind that one good thing that came out of this pandemic is telehealth. You just have to find someone In the same state and you can do phone conferences with them.

  2. I found myself eating more than I should be after surgery as well and I have been working on finding a therapist that deals with eating disorders. After a lot of calling around I finally found one that is in my state so I can do telehealth I am just waiting for the appointment since she as scheduling pretty far out. Talk to a therapist sooner than later to get to the bottom of any food addictions you have so you don’t miss the opportunity to take advantage of this tool.

  3. I have only lost 40 pounds and I already have boob issues. They are deflated but I tried a cup size smaller In the same bra and it creates muffin top because the cup is not wide enough. I have a bunch of space at the top of the bra that is empty. Hopefully as I lose more this will change or I am never going to find a bra that fits properly.

  4. I actually gained weight the closer I got to my surgery because I did the little food funerals that many of us do. Either way it gets harder and harder to lose weight the more we lose so hopefully you won’t lose quite as much the next couple of months but maybe relax your diet just a bit if you are losing it that fast. So sad we have to play these games with something so important as our health. I was close to the weight before the food funerals and asked this question too. For me they also said it went by the weight you are at your pre op appointment (before the liver shrink diet).

Got a call this past Friday that my surgeon had some changes in his schedule and they would need to either reschedule me for September or move me to another surgeon in the practice. My surgery had already been delayed from last December as I didn't feel comfortable with the original facility and moved to a different program. Though it makes me crazy nervous I opted to change to a different surgeon. It's pretty frustrating, but, I've also talked to plenty of people who don't meet their surgeon until the day of the surgery. The program I'm in is pretty robust though, so, putting my faith in that and the info I have found online about the new surgeon. liquid diet starts Friday!

Perhaps you can ask to do one last appointment to meet the new surgeon ahead of that day. I think we all are pretty nervous though by the time we start our preop diet new surgeon or not.

My surgery is on Friday 5/28. In my second phase I can have blended Soups. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on some good Soups to make? My doctors sheet recommends split pea, or lentil Soup, but I am not a huge fan of those choices.

I am not a big cook so I did the cream of soups out of the can when I was allowed (mixed with skim milk to make it creamier) and surprisingly I was so glad to get more than broth that they weren’t too bad. I wouldn’t stock up too much if that’s why your asking now though, some people’s tastes change a bit (at least temporarily) and also our tummies are just picky for a while. What you like now you may not like, or be able to tolerate, right after surgery. I did consider asking about putting broccoli cheese Soup (the one soup I can make outside of chicken noodle) in the blender but never did because it’s so high in calories I figured it defeated the purpose. There are a ton of foodies that can cook out there so you will get some better suggestions I’m sure.

Ok if y’all don’t have an H‑E‑B grocery store then I wish y’all did. It has amazing store brand items.
Their cauliflower crust pepperoni pizza-I added mushrooms. I ❤️mushrooms!!
This is so good. I’m not a huge pizza person but when we do pizzas I don’t eat the ones the rest of my fam does so I get this for myself. So good!!
Plus in a paper plate-NO DISHES AFTERWARDS! Win win!!

If you’re buying a whole pizza for just yourself and you end up wasting I found a tip that if you cut it in like quarters when you get it home from the store it’s partially thawed so it’s much easier to cut and then you can just cook a quarter or a half of the pizza or how much ever you need too.

Yes, that's what I was asking about. I'm not really sure that I want to take a stool softener every day. Do you have any idea how long you might have to take a stool softener every day to keep yourself regular? Again, I totally knew that BMs might be impacted, but I'm just wondering for how long. I can of course ask my surgeon as well. Just wondering since you take one daily to make you regular.

I have been taking fiber daily and that seems to help. Dr says that fine to take daily.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had good resources to share with friend and family to get them information on this journey. My husband is one of those eat all the junk and be skinny types and doesn’t fully understand my struggles. Also he is blind and has other health issues so he’s got his own view on things. He is supportive and will help me in whatever way I can but wanted to see if there was a good resource for him to read stuff from a support perspective and not from a patient perspective if that makes sense.

    thanks!!!

The clinic you are planning to go through may also have support groups that you may be able to bring him along. That’s not really from a support perspective but it could still be pretty informative and he can ask questions.

I'm trying not to get too frustrated about this. My surgery was scheduled for May, then June, and now JULY.

All good reason(s) for reschedule though. I have some chest congestion that has hung around and turned into a bit of pneumonia. It was pushed out, and then my regular doctor said to push it out a little further so I can see a specialist in the meantime. I'm dissapointed but feel very comfortable with the reasoning for it. I don't want to go into surgery with weakened lungs.

But I feel my resolve busted a little bit, and maybe a bit of relief. It's 100% the right choice, medically speaking. I was half-way into my liquid diet when I got the news, and now i'm going 2 months waiting until surgery. I know it will probably go by fast, but it's hard not to think of that as a time where I would be making progress, healing, and now I'm not.

At any rate, if you're dealing with this, you're not alone.

I’m sorry you have to wait but it’s a good time to practice eating slower/ chewing better, no straws, etc.
