  1. Thought of you this morning because my weight went up one pound and I realized what I do to calm my fears when this happens. I have a log of my weight In the notepad on my phone. I log it daily and at the end of the month I delete it all except for the 18th which was my first entry at pre op appt. I look back at that and see the overall trend downwards and I feel better. Perhaps you could do something like that.

I definitely had that happen at my highest weight. I've taken more than 1 chair with me!
I'm 172 pounds down, and it's still weird that I fit into chairs now. I still find myself checking out chairs at places wondering if they'll fit, and then I realize "Oh wait! I don't have to worry about that anymore!"
I've been bruised from chairs like the ones you described in the conference room. I don't miss that!

Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

I’ve never taken a chair with me but have broken a lawn chair or two in my day. The ma and pa auto place near me has these lawn chairs that have to be like 50 years old and the girl chuckled when I paused and said don’t worry they won’t break. I swear the entire time I was Sitting like a statue.

I’m 2 weeks post op and my biggest struggle is all the freaking commercials.. every channel there’s delicious looking food on it.. even TikTok seems to just be nothing but delicious monstrosities being made!! I’m just sitting here sipping my clears and eating my jello.. and all the while everyone else in the house eat what they want and when you’re already thinking you’re starving of course everything they eat looks way better than it is.. then they have the audacity to have crumbs in the corner of their mouths lol..

Maybe invest in netflix for a few months. No commercials.

  4. I suggest you talk the decision of whether to get a divorce over with a therapist. First because you can’t really judge an entire relationship by just one action without a whole lot of background. Second, If he is really abusive and manipulative they can tell you what to expect when you mention it and help you prepare (get your ducks in a row so he can’t sabotage you somehow). Maybe Just tell him it’s related to an eating disorder if you need an excuse or just ask him to go to another marriage counselor with you and when he says no, tell him you are gonna go anyways.

I don’t eat full salads because I can barely hit my Protein goal. I do like to have lettuce wraps. I use them like taco shells. I like getting both Protein and veggies. I Eat homemade green smoothies, homemade garden salsa, and add veggies to my meals (stews, Soups, sauces, etc). I’ll eat a skimmed cucumber with chicken salad anytime.

What is a “skimmed” cucumber? Remove the seeds? If so have you ever tried seedless. I like them because they seem to last longer in the fridge. Still not long enough for just me to finish after WLS because they are bigger but still longer than regular cucumbers.

As soon as I called the surgery center I became totally determined and I started counting calories again, and reduced carbs and increased Protein. It's been the easiest time ever to lose weight, I'm way less hungry with more Protein and less sugar/carbs. I've lost more than 45 lbs, to the point where if I lost much more I wouldn't qualify for surgery. But the surgery center says they have put a weight in for my insurance so now I can keep losing weight.

You are doing so well. Congratulations.

I’m having the surgery on Wednesday. Should be able to leave the hospital on Thursday. My BF isn’t able to come get me either. I plan on taking a taxi or the train, depending on how I’m feeling. They never mentioned anything about someone having to be there to pick me up. Getting kinda worried now reading the comments. If it’s a requirement, they should have mentioned it imo.

I would ask when the nurses call to go over your surgery because they may not let you leave unless they are releasing you into the care of someone. You don’t want to get stuck there for another night or however long if you can avoid it.

Ok, check out this work of art!! 😂

    A Deep Dish 3-cheese-mushroom-bacon Quiche.

One slice/serving (i.e,. 1/8 of the thing): 365 calories. Ate almost an entire slice...someone swiped the outside part with the crust from my plate.

So that looked so delicious but I am in weight loss now so I searched the web for a healthier version. I found one that used almond flour went and got all the ingredients and started making it only to find it has more calories than your does (it listed it the whole time I just didn’t scroll down that far). I think it’s cause it bad Turkey bacon in it and quite a bit. Anyways I tasted a bit of the crust and it was delicious. I just hope it comes out okay because while I’ve never made quiche before

i don’t think the egg mixture is supposed to be above the rim of the crust. I’m am really not a big cook. Hopefully it’s still edible cause after seeing yours I want it so bad.

  9. I am not experiencing this but wanted to say I’m sorry you are struggling and glad to hear that you are getting treatment. May I ask, are you post weight loss surgery? Was this a new development after the surgery?? If not, do you feel like they just missed it during the psych evaluation or did you hide it well. I am post surgery and suffer from emotional eating and they missed it on the psyc evaluation so I am currently seeing a specialist (racing the clock getting help before my tool stops working).

i just wonder how often these things are missed during the screening? It doesn’t seem to be at all standardized because the first place I called said that I needed to be there an hour early to take written tests and I found another that could get me in sooner and I didn’t do any written tests. Maybe the tests would have caught it? Anyways, i hope you find someone who is in your same situation and wish you the best of luck in your treatment.

  10. I would venture to say that very few people will find that they are losing too much and have to make a real effort to stop. The averge WLS patient doesnt even necessarily make it below the “overweight” category on the BMI scale. Average weight loss is 60-70% of your excess body weight. You get this by subtracting the weight you should be from the weight you currently are and take 70 percent of that. That’s about how much you should lose. Now just subtract that number from what you weigh now and you will see if you lose the average amount what you should weigh. Having said that, several people on this site will tell you that they lost more or less than “average” (because it’s just a statistic) but I doubt there will be many that say they lost much more unintentionally.

  11. I woke up from surgery with some pain meds in me and after I told them I was on very little pain they switched me to Tylenol at the hospital. They sent me home with something mild which I never took. I can’t imagine the need for a pain pump unless you have a complication or something. I mean. I do know someone else who had fhe surgery who had a lot of pain and had to ask for stronger pain meds and by all means if you need them take them, but I can’t imagine that oral pain meds wouldn’t be enough.

Hmmmmmmm, now I'm curious as to why both the surgeon and dietician told me I didn't need to take those extras? My next blood work will be interesting.

I think if it were me I would ask them again specifically about Calcium. Assuming What stloser said above is correct about calcium taking a long time to register as low you may not want to wait till your labs show a deficiency.

  13. My heart breaks for you. I can’t imagine doing this without my husbands support. Not that you can’t or shouldn’t. I really hope he comes around at some point. I wish you both the best of luck with all this.I agree that without his help you will need to enlist a friend or a nurse or something. I’m sure you can find support. Older people living alone have surgery all the time.

I sent my docs the link to these and they told me I did NOT have to take extra Calcium, B1 or B12 and possibly no extra Iron (cause this one a day had enough of each) but I doubt that since I'm anemic and always need more. But for the average normal person there is plenty of that too.

I thought they said that Iron affects Calcium absorption or vice a versa and I have to take them all two hours apart so how could the calcium and iron be in the same Vitamin and absorb properly? I’m not being smart I’m really asking. Lol. Because the idea of taking one pill a day instead of four things is has peaked my interest for sure

  15. I was worried about medications after surgery too. I do not have Migraines, I have bipolar and the med I was on has a minimum calorie requirement so I knew I had to switch post surgery but had never tried anything else. For my peace of mind I asked my doctor and be switched me months BEFORE my surgery so that I knew there was something else that worked for me. Perhaps you can do the same with Migraine and arthritis meds. Try some non nsaids out now so you know that it’s controllable after?? Especially if you are waiting on insurance anyways like I was.
