I think they may be referring to the fact that it is laparoscopic now so they don’t do the big incision down your stomach anymore. I just had four very small incisions and one dot (that one is completely non existent now).

Can you have clear protein drinks?? I hated the sweetness of shakes post surgery so the clear protein was a blessing. They sell a lot of protein packed soups on this site that may be worth trying. Many people also mention bone broth but I’ve never tried it.

I just found this on TRICARE-west.com. I would ask the insurance company first to make certain this is for all TRICARE but as you can see your answers to these questions should be satisfactory for them to let you see whatever doctor is willing to help you. They just want to know that you are not just being picky with doctors and that you tried to find someone in network first. You just have to get approval ahead of time. And be certain to ask if approving this means they are covering it at an IN NETWORK RATE In the rare case that network providers are not available or there is a clinically significant reason care must be provided by a non-network provider, clear and detailed documentation must be provided for consideration of this request. The documentation should include answers to the following questions: Is the request due to a beneficiary preference or is it based on medical need? Has the beneficiary seen other specialists who cannot manage his or her condition? If so, please provide consultation reports. Have all available network providers been ruled out? If so, which network providers have been contacted? What is unique about the patient's condition and/or the provider's credentials that requires him or her to see a non-network specialist?

Yea i agree. I believe a revision surgery takes longer so if they opened you up and found out they very well could close you up because they did not allow enough time to do the revision. Or get the scans that they needed ahead of time in order to proceed or whatever. I personally wouldn’t want them to be any less prepared than they could be when they cut me open either.

This is really bothering me. I know you said you are just venting but I’d really like to be able to actually HELP you because this is just so absolutely unfair. If you are just venting tell me and I will shut up but I hate to hear about things like this. I have never heard of the blocks that KimA is speaking of and if that’s the case at least you have some explanation although I think I would still dispute it with a doctors help. But if what she is saying is not the case (your insurance company does cover it) maybe the insurance company can make them help you OR find you someone who will by making an exception for you to go out of network. Maybe start by asking the dr office WHY. Whether it’s because of insurance or just their personal preference or what. Idk. I just wouldn’t give up quite yet. If it is not an exclusion from the insurance I believe they HAVE to find you a qualified provider to help you. If the doctors in their network refuse to see you they have the ability to cover you to see an out of network provider and cover it at an in network rate (basically just allow you to see any dr you want and cover it as if they are in your network). I believe you really do have a case in which this could be approved. it may take some work on your part but you really don’t have much to lose for trying except a bit of your time.

I would like to think that they would look at records from the original surgery at some point and figure it out, but then again they may just do imaging to see what they are up against and not pay much attention to what could’ve changed over all those years. I think you have a point, maybe just don’t volunteer that info unless they ask you specifically where the surgery was done.

Ooh I’m not certain that the lack of energy is entirely due to the reduced calories. Although I’m sure that plays a role I think it’s just our bodies are healing and we need more sleep. I was tired for a while too. I just gave into it and took lots of naps. Basically all you can really do. I’m not sure if I was still tired at 4 weeks post op but everyone recovers differently. It’s doesn’t last forever though. Just try to hang in there.

Though it’s not at all uncommon, I didn’t really have mood swings (anymore than usual I should say, lol). Anyways, I still wanted to say hello and welcome.

I have heard very good things about the built bars too. I have been afraid to try them though because in the past I have overdone the protein bars and too much of anything can be bad. Let us know if you try them.

I would think of you have gained all the weight back you would be approved fairly easily. It seems like it when people have only gained part back that they have to prove it’s medically necessary for reason other than those Based on BMI. I’m sure it all depends on your insurance but it seems to me like you would be okay. Hopefully someone who has actually had a revision with similar experience will see this and let you know based on actual experience.

If I were you I would contact your insurance and see how to open a dispute or whatever they call it and then ideally get a family dr or someone in your corner (even my gynocologist told me if I had issues getting approval that he was willing to help) hopefully they will be willing to write a letter saying it’s medically necessary (if you even need that) and you can add that you called everywhere within 200 miles and go from there.

Wow. It’s so weird how things work out sometimes. So glad you were required to do that test, and at that time!! Also, Congratulations on your surgery date.

I would contact your insurance company and let them know the situation. Maybe they will open you up to see surgeons out of network. I believe they have to cover someone willing to see you. I ran into a similar situation with my husband and unfortunately it was cancer that needed to be removed so there was no time to fight with the insurance and we had to go out of network. Nothing to do with Mexico, just that the surgeons in his network were afraid to do it because of the location. Anyways, you just reminded me that I want to try to do a dispute now and see if they will cover it. It’s a long shot to do it this way but worth a try. If you do it up front though, you may actually have success.

Yes. According to Dr Google, lol. It can lead to esophageal cancer. I think most people have many symptoms though. I figured I will bring it up at my next follow up and see what they have to say. It makes sense what your dr said since you will be getting the scope anyways why not be sure. My dr didn’t require the scope or the silent reflux test.

Did dr get to the bottom of things?

I think I may have just said this in another thread but not certain. Nausea is not at all uncommon but it’s not the norm either. I would definitely contact your team to get a nausea Med. They should be able to just call one in for you if you call them.

That’s amazing!!!! And every pound you lose now will make it that much easier post surgery. I am just finding this post for some reason but have you considered counseling for your binge eating and emotional eating??. I have seen quite a few people swear that was a huge component of their success along with the surgery.

Hummm. I do not but my best friend does. I have been saying we have to go there but warned her since I’ve never been it will be a half day ordeal of me shopping every aisle and reading labels. I don’t think it sounds very exciting to her cause she hasn’t brought it up. Lol. Maybe I just need to make the trip by myself one day.

There are a couple things that some people miss when they begin tracking or measuring. Are you counting all the oils and marinades you are cooking with? Also are you actually measuring sauces and stuff?? Two tablespoons was alot less than i though. When I actually put it in a measuring cup I realized I had been using a lot of calories worth of dressings. Another thing I was underestimating was shredded cheese. I don’t mean to sound insulting if you are already measuring these things correctly that’s great but I know I wasn’t in the beginning. if you really are tracking everything correctly then it has to be stress. If I understood correctly your team did not actually give you a goal of weight to lose?? For the most part the medically managed diet is just an insurance hoop like others have said. A few people with higher BMI’s are given a specific Amount of weight that they must lose in order to make the procedure safe but for the most part it’s just the insurance game. if I were you I would contact your team and let them know you are struggling and ask if you were required to lose In order to be approved or not. Get rid of that thing that is most likely causing you stress which is causing your body to be in fight or flight mode making it harder to lose.

I haven’t had to have that study but do have a question for you if you don’t mind. Did you have ALL the symptoms of silent reflux to warrant the study? I only have the occasional burning in the throat but nothing else. That in itself doesn’t bother me but the part about it possibly causing cancer and stuff scares me a bit. I didn’t realize there was an actual test for it. It sounds invasive though.

Well at least you don’t have to start over. I’m guessing the dr will be sorta busy trying to handle the backlog of other patients who are also put on pause. If your flexible scheduling wise I would ask to be put on a cancellation list. Maybe that will get you in sooner.

i am hoping for my target to start carrying the flavored one. So far they just have the plain. Our Sam’s club does have the everything bagel but I’m pretty sure I can’t eat anywhere close to 12 in a week. Plus I’m not really a huge fan of that seasoning (i can take it or leave it but it doesn’t add much flavor in my opinion). I am looking forward to the southwestern flavor becoming available though. That sounds good.
