I’m so glad you got your fluids and that someone is going to report those two. It’s not like retail where not doing your job well just inconveniences people a medical professional can actually cause people harm. They have a much bigger responsibility to do the right thing.

New Job, New Insurance, No More WLS Coverage :(

I didn’t use them but have heard of people going to Vegas and getting reasonable prices. -
Are you feeling tired all the time?
ShoppGirl replied to nymisc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don’t remember it being associated with walking but I got pretty tired and had to nap almost daily for the first few months. Best thing to do was to just give in and rest when your body needs it. -
I was able to eat more than expected at every given stage. Now at over a year snd a half out I am “satisfied” with about a serving of most things but all along I have had to measure my food out because if I eat to feel full I will eat more than I should. My team says this is rare and it’s more likely it’s cut nerves and you will feel your restriction soon but even if not, it can be done you just have to measure things.

While you definitely want to be aware of the possible risks and the treatments for such issues, personally I would steer clear of a group that posts only about complications. I would just worry it would begin to make it seem like everyone has issues which is really far from the truth. If you feel like you need to keep searching about them I would also make sure to search for the statistics that put it all into perspective of how likely (or unlikely) each issue is to actually Happen to you. I hope this helps.

Gastric bypass and dental cleaning
ShoppGirl replied to Breanne (w 2 pups)'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
OP, Did you ever figure out what was going on? Was it the flu or something? Did it go away quickly?? It could be helpful for others in the future to hear about your experience and I have to admit I am super curious. 😉 -
Roller Coasters Post Op
ShoppGirl replied to Darkangel505's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s been a year and a half so I can’t remember for certain but I’m 99% sure it was less than two and a half months before I was cleared for strenuous exercise. I’m hoping someone who had their surgery more recently will weigh in and let you know for sure. -
Found a new protein drink
ShoppGirl replied to liveaboard15's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hummm. It’s always cool to find new protein options. Thanks for sharing. I think I may need to readjust my color settings though if I am the only one thinking about mouthwash. lol 😂 -
Vitamin deficiency please help
ShoppGirl replied to PennyIris's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I take the pro care health with 45 mg iron as well. I also Take two doses of calcium a day separate from the multi vitamin for better absorption. So far at over a year and a half out my labs have been excellent -
I assume they are in the same practice? I’m sure if the other doctor is very good and well known they would not work with another doctor who wasn’t also very good. Reputation is everything for an established doctor and they wouldn’t risk their good one for someone who wasn’t just as good or promising as them. So your research though and if you don’t feel comfortable change your date. Even if you have to wait a while to have your surgery. You need to trust your doctor.

Roller Coasters Post Op
ShoppGirl replied to Darkangel505's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely still ask your surgeon but I’m thinking they are going to say you are fine. I was only given restrictions in terms of lifting and then exercise but I was cleared for everything before ten weeks. Of course I had no reason to ask about roller coasters so better to ask just to be certain. -
I was wondering about those bra extenders. Purchasing an even smaller band size than you need and using an extender knowing that you will most likely be able to get rid of the extender and wear it for another little while still? Unless you still go down in cup size but eventually you stop losing in the cup.

I say why wait until 50 years. Renew your vows now and get the wedding band at least. You can still do a fancy new engagement type or anniversary ring for your 50th to complement it.

Personally I wasn’t worried too much about the surgery in terms of anything going wrong. I was most worried about the surgery not working for me. In other words I wouldn’t lose anything at all or I would lose some but gain it all back.

September surgery buddies!!
ShoppGirl replied to Slwhurst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weighed myself everyday but I only logged it once a week. That way when I looked back at my log it was a more obvious downward trend. Something about not logging it helped but if the fluctuations still get to you, consider only getting on the scale once a week. -
It’s not my recipe but the ricotta bake was my fave during the purée phase. https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/

Need help with husbands post op eating
ShoppGirl replied to HappyCruiser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I googled it because I didn’t know either. The term is just often used by men speaking about their pestering wives. To the point that the “nagging wife” has become a stereotype. -
Weight loss meds after surgery!
ShoppGirl replied to carpeediem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard of people having to take meds post surgery but I was under the impression that they were not able to stick to the plan 100% because they were still experiencing hunger. You say you are sticking to your plan though so I guess it would depend on how the medication works. If the medication only works by suppressing your appetite then I’m not sure it will do much more than the surgery has already done for you but some of those meds do also speed up your metabolism and or give you energy from what I understand. That could help you lose maybe?? -
What made you decide to have a WLS?
ShoppGirl replied to omrhsn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was a lower BMI to start but only because I had basically been on a never ending diet for years. Just because of the portions of what I ate (even when it was nutritious food) I was gaining like ten pounds a year). Well my knees were starting to hurt when I exercised and I just knew that within a year or two when I weighed even more it was going to hurt that much more and make it impossible to exercise making me gain even more weight. I could see it snowballing and I decided to do something before it got out of control. -
I would be on with the director of the hospital telling them that you were not treated before you were released. I would ask them if there is something they did not tell you because when you got there they agreed that you needed fluids to the point they stuck a needle into your arm yet at some point They randomly decided you didn’t even need to complete a whole bag and basically kicked you out still feeling sick. At the very least you should not have to pay for that visit. Ideally they can get you in for fluids from a professional doctor!! Hopefully, they take a closer look at that doctor and his treatment of people. Your pain contract shouldn’t have ANY bearing on your asking for fluids?? i would try contacting that team again and tell them that in your area the process must be different and you are having a hard time getting fluids. Maybe they can make a call and arrange it.

Weight loss and menopause
ShoppGirl replied to SleevedGAPeach21's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ooh I don’t even want to think about this. I know if it causes weight gain in some it will cause it ten fold for me (like everything else does). I know that my mom stayed on birth control pills for years past the end of her cycle. I’m pretty sure it was to help with the symptoms of menopause. I wonder if it helps control menopause associated weight gain?? -
Just starting my journey!
ShoppGirl replied to Manda1031's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The bypass is an excellent surgery. To be honest that was my first choice but I have bipolar disorder and a lot of the meds don’t absorb as well post bypass so with all other things being equal I went with the sleeve because of that. What I did was start a list of questions in the notepad of my phone because I would think of things at the most random times that I wanted to ask them. Some of your questions you can ask here and we can answer but some of them will be more specific to your team.
