    Fluctuations

Ooh it’s honestly better to weigh less. I am just ocd and my compromise is to delete everything except the once a month.

    Fluctuations

My weight fluctuates by like 3-5 pounds just in a day on any given day. That’s why I weigh every day and record it everyday but then on surgery day each month I delete everything but that day so I have one weight each month officially logged and I can see the downward trend despite fluctuations.

    Drinking with Meals

I wonder about drinking before meals. What people’s dr’s say and what the vets do. I know I have done this on accident a few times and nothing happened. I have drank with meals and I can feel it pushing the food down too fast but i can drink a whole glass right before I eat and it doesn’t bother me at all.

    Need vitamin for sensitive stomach

My clinic questions the effectiveness of them but I have heard people on here talk about vitamin patches. The NP says she has yet to be able to get any of the companies to send her research to prove they actually work but people on here have saiD they work for them. I would Say in a situation such as yours it would be worth a try. I would do regular labs to make sure though.

    Burping

I haven’t noticed it myself but have read many stories on here of excessive gas post op.

    Pre op diet

That’s a long time to do the pre op. It does get easier as time goes by though so hopefully it will for you too. Maybe ask the surgeon if they can give you something for nausea. I think the lack of energy is pretty common but they make medications for nausea and vomiting. Keep hanging in there. You can do this.

    No. No purchase is necessary.

    8 days till surgery

I was nervous that I would do the surgery and everyone would know I did it and I would still fail yet again. Of course I didn’t. I have lost 54 pounds and still losing slowly but surely. It’s normal to have reservations though.

    Newbie

I had lots of second thoughts. I was a lower BMI and I kept wondering if I should try one last time to lose the weight myself. But reality is I did just try one last time (I just didn’t know it was the last time) and I stalled and gained it all back as usual. Post surgery I didn’t have any regrets at all. Probably because I didn’t have a lot of pain of complications and I can eat everything I did before. Some people do have regrets immediately post op but that goes away the first month or so for most people.

    Starting the process

Congratulations on getting started on this path. Many people on here say it is weird, but somehow easier to lose weight once they have made up their mind to do surgery. I guess there is something to that. Less stress and cortisol or just more drive from being hopeful but it seems to help many people. Just one or two small changes and you should be able to drop 20 pounds eventually. How long do you have to wait? Do you have the 6 months monitored weight loss??
  12. About to watch the Patriots game with my hubby and I am finally able to fit back into my womens jersey. Feeling super feminine and flirty.

    Mental Health

My therapist didn’t agree with the surgery either. He thought it was the easy way out. I just told him we would have to agree to disagree cause I was doing it and I don’t really talk much about my weight loss with him. He did call to check on me after my surgery and he asks how I’m doing but when I was looking to talk to someone about boredom eating I went elsewhere.

    Others noticing weight loss

Last night my husband and I ran into a guy that we used to bowl against when we did league (before COVID made that too much of a risk). He didn’t say anything to me but he went and told my husband right away he barely recognized me. I guess he felt it was inappropriate to say to a female? I was glad that someone noticed and sorta glad that it wasn’t made a big deal of too. So it worked out. I got my reassurance that it is visible without too much attention to make me uncomfortable.
  15. Hang in there. It’s totally worth it.

One week post-op — feeling hunger

What did your dr say? Did they think you were explaining actual hunger or something else. I have felt what I think is head hunger since this all started. I just assume it’s head hunger since my hunger hormones are supposed to be all gone. That combined with the fact that I can eat much more than I am supposed to at every given point means this has still been quite a struggle for me. (I still WANT to eat all the time and I WANT to eat more than I am) but I am still losing and hoping that the thermostat lowering component (I think that’s what Dr Weiner called it) will still make it easier to keep it off this time. I am still losing slowly but surely.

    Surgery in 48hrs!!

Absolutely. I don’t think I’ve ever really felt so many emotions at one time. Hang in there. It’s well worth it.

    Day 1 Post Op

Glad to hear you are doing well. I’m sure this will help many who are anxiously awaiting their surgeries.

    Brand new today!

Sounds like the others covered it except I found an extra long charging cable on Amazon I used with my iPad. I could have made due with just my phone but I brought it so I used it to watch Netflix what little time I was awake.

    Others noticing weight loss

I have lost 52 pounds and no one outside of those who know about my surgery have noticed. I think maybe they have but don’t feel close enough to make a comment??

    New here

I already had mine but welcome and congrats on your surgery.
  22. I didn’t lose anything before my pre op diet either, but wanted to say enjoy your weekend with your parents and good luck in surgery Monday. 🍀

    Collagen Peptides

I recommend just not counting it for now but at some point (for me it was my three month checkup) they should check your labs and protein is one they check. I took it for a while and didn’t count it and it wasn’t like I was getting too much protein. At that point you will know how your body is absorbing it and you can adjust from there.

    Gummy multivitamin?

I was told no gummies as well. Your clinic may have samples. Bariatric advantage had sample packs I received one at the nutritionist appointment but the clinic recommended them as well. Now that I think of it I believe the sample was a chewable that contained iron though. It was the calcium citrate chew, the multivitamin chewable and something else (it may have been the one without iron I can’t recall). But most importantly, double check that you didn’t misunderstand the gummies suggestion.
  25. Lizonaplane has a good point. I got a rubber stamp psychologist and was happy at the time but now wish I would have had someone more thorough. Post surgery I realized I have disordered eating (emotional eating and boredom eating) and I am racing the clock in therapy trying to get help before I waste this opportunity to use this tool. If you just need someone else to feel Comfortable opening up then by all means ask to see someone else but if you have to lie to get approved you may not be ready for the surgery yet. That’s not to say you Can’t be ready just not quite yet.
