    Hungry or Full?

There are the few rare people who still have actual hunger. Are you eating snacks? I honestly think mine was head hunger, but I still couldn’t deny it every-time. As long as it’s healthy, you should be okay to incorporate snacks. I ate breakfast at 6 (or whenever I wake up) lunch at noon and dinner at 6 so with snacks at 3 and 9 I was eating every three hours. I still kept portions small and calories low but I had to eat more often than just three meals a day. The nutritionist preferred that we try to keep it to three meals a day but the NP was fine with snacks as long as they were small and healthy. In the very beginning my snacks were veggies cause of all the constipation issues I needed fiber.
  2. Let me start by saying that my husband met me when I was thin but he married me when I was heavy so I know he loves me no matter what. At the same time if I ask him he is honest about my size. Well I haven’t lost any weight on the scale for over a month now but I have been doing crunches because I have what I like to call a spare tire. Last night I asked my husband if my spare tire is getting better because I’ve been doing crunches for a while and he said it’s not quite a spare tire anymore and I said so is it more like a doughnut he said well not a doughnut either, maybe just tread. I thought it was funny and was glad to hear that even though I am not losing weight it is redistributing. I increased my crunches today to try and get rid of the tread but don’t want to get my hopes up too much. The NP already told me with the loose skin I probably will not have a six pack without surgery. But going from a full on belly to spare tire to donut to just tread is still HUGE. I’ll take it.

    Hospital Bag

Ooh and like greentealaleal said, nothing expensive (leave your jewelry at home).

    Hospital Bag

I was supposed to spend two nights but my recovery was uneventful so I got to go home the second day. Bring whatever electronics you usually pack to make you comfortable (I brought phone, iPad and earbuds) along with a really long charging cable (found one on Amazon). The hospital gave me toiletries but I wasn’t allowed to take a shower anyways. I did use my toothbrush and deodorant and did a sort of sponge bath (they provide soap and wash cloth). I didn’t need them but many suggest change of undies in case of accident so I brought a few, lol. I was glad I brought pajama pants to wear around the hospital under the gown. I wore the same clothes home from hospital that I wore there with the exception of my bra and panties (I wore a sports bra on the way home).

    September Surgery Buddies!!

I keep saying this on here so sorry if you already know this but I did not until my clinic told me. Arranging for fluids if you are dehydrated does not have to be a big deal. I called my surgery center and they made an appointment for me to go to the hospital as an OUT PATIENT and I got two bags of fluids. I was drinking more and more each day so that one time was all I needed to get me over the hump.
  6. I know it is empty calories and we are not supposed to have it in weight loss phase but I met my protein goal already and I counted the calories for a small portion of it. Only problem was I was able to eat ALOT more than I expected. Is popcorn a slider food? It didn’t seem like it was ever going to trigger my full feeling. Seems like I could have eaten the whole bag (it was 100 calorie bag but still).
  7. Glad to hear you are doing better. Each day is better than the last.
  8. Others said it already but yes the three week stall is a thing. Just keep doing what you are doing. Stay off the scale for a while if that helps and trust the process. The loss will pick back up shortly.

    Hungry or Full?

Most people (not all) immediately post op do not experience hunger so if you are eating and experience this feeling afterwards my guess is it’s your full signal. Mine doesn’t feel anything like hunger to me but I guess we are all different.

ProCare Health One A Day Vitamin

I take the same vitamin and take them In the morning with my protein shake I drink for breakfast along with taking my other meds. Like you I was fine for a while but one day it made me sick as can be and the only thing I can think of is I must’ve taken less of the protein shake before I swallowed the vitamin (I never had issues with vitamins so I didn’t pay attention to this). Anyways, I have made it a point now to take my vitamin with the last sip of My protein shake and I have been fine ever since. You could just as easily take it with dinner though like you mentioned.
  11. Immediately for me. The sweetness of protein shakes which was a couple days out was horrible to me. That’s the only change I had though. I have even tried things I didn’t like pre surgery just to see and my tastes are the same.
  12. I have a 15 pounds dog and their little paws can be like little pokers sometimes. I would imagine if it was just near the incision it should be fine. Sorry that you can’t just get guidance from your surgery center. My primary care doctor’s office is unresponsive like that and I am going to go to this one last annual appointment just so I can talk to him personally to let him know what is going on with his staff and then changing doctors (unless he convinces me otherwise but I doubt it).
  13. Well the response about salad being a slider food seems to be mixed. Guess like everything else it’s different for all of us.
  14. It sorta goes right through and doesn’t fill you up. It doesn’t trigger your restriction.
  15. Even if it does set you back a little I would change doctors if you don’t feel comfortable with yours. You have to trust your doctor in order to trust the process and that is critical In succeeding post surgery. That being said it really shouldn't set you back too much. They should be able to use medical records to satisfy the same requirements. They may have a few different requirements though that you will have to fulfill.
  16. Hummmm..I’ve never used truvia. I’ve used Splenda and swerve (I’m partial to Splenda). Let me know how they turn out if you decide to bake them.
  17. Thanks for your reply. I am almost 7 months out. Does it say 4 weeks in my profile somewhere that I need to update?
  18. Stloser, When you say overdo it do you mean calorie wise because it’s empty calories or do you think you can still hurt yourself or stretch your pouch with slider foods? I plan to ask the dr this when I go in two weeks but just curious what others have been told. With this and all slider foods. Like salad. Is it okay to eat more salad volume wise if it is a slider food? I have been measuring it anyways just in case until I get an answer.
  19. Well, given that I called my clinic before I had it and was told just not to have a lot, yes, it was the only problem I had with it. But thanks for asking.
  20. If you don’t get an answer here. I would ask this cookie question on the food before and after page. Lots of bakers on there that know about swerve and almond flour and all that. In fact. I may ask it myself if COVID permits me to go to cookie day with my family this year.
  21. I found that the zero sugar candies at Walmart like Hershey’s and twizzlers tastes almost exactly like the real thing and it is a little better for you. You still have to enjoy it in moderation but for a special occasion it’s a better alternative. Just try a very small portion the first time, and at home, because for Some people the sweetening ingredient (I think it’s malitol) acts like a laxative.

    Why no iceberg lettuce?

Iceberg lettuce is hard to digest. The chopped kind is a little better but some people can’t tolerate it for quite a while.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

I had my surgery March 9th and post surgery have lost only 40 pounds (55 including pre op). I have been stalled for about a month and am worried that I will not lose anymore. Fingers crossed the stall will break.
  24. I am almost seven months out and knowing what I know now the first thing I would do would be to start seeing a bariatric therapist. I didn’t realize until AFTER I had the surgery that I struggle with emotional and boredom eating and no special diet, fasting coach or even surgery was going to help me lose weight and keep it off without the help of a bariatric therapist. And personally I wouldn’t have benefited from a fasting coach. I would have lost the weight and then gained it back like everything else I have tried and failed. That being said the two surgical options are both good it just depends on which one is right for you. Personally I could not have paid that much out of pocket so I would have had not choice but to go with the second option but only you know if you can afford to do it self pay. I wouldn’t base it on the follow up though, because you can seek out help from a nutritionist or dietician on your own and hopefully you will already have been working with a bariatric therapist if you need one and you can just continue to see them As needed. That’s basically what the continued care consists of. That and follow up visits with the surgery center to check labs for vitamin deficiencies and check in with how you are doing. You can always call and ask up Front but I’m sure if you are willing to pay you can see all those people as often as you want. All that being said I wouldn’t have wanted to wait years for surgery but if you are committed you should be able to start losing weight while you wait and it’s just less to have to lose later.
