I am 8 months out and I can eat everything in smaller portions I did pre surgery. I still have 11 pounds to goal so I don’t eat the junk anymore but I admit I did try it just to make sure I could tolerate it in moderation when I do get to maintenance. As far as drinking I used to drink rum and Cole zero which I cant have anymore so I tried it with crystal light and it’s just awful. I can’t drink it fast enough to even get a little buzz. It’s just not worth it to me to have that amount of liquid calories so I just don’t drink anymore. But if you like wine or other non fIzzy options you should be fine.

What do non-cooks eat in the 4th month?
ShoppGirl replied to Amy Braun's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I also get the Chick-fil-A Southwest salad and eat all the toppings with just a tiny bit of dressing. I am now 8 months out and I add just a bit of the lettuce in and the salad makes two meals. I just picked one up for lunch and thought of you. They have an avocado ranch dressing that I do not like but everyone else I know loves it with the southwest salad. -

What do non-cooks eat in the 4th month?
ShoppGirl replied to Amy Braun's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am not a big cook either so I cut down calories at breakfast and lunch so I have more options at dinner. I have a protein shake for breakfast and a P3 protein pack for lunch then I can have like 500 calorie dinner. Your will be less at 600 calories but you likely get full on smaller portions that I do. I have to measure my portions because I do not feel full unless I eat more than I should be able to. My protein shake is 160 cal and the P3 is 170 cal. I also have a couple 100 cal snacks and end up eating around 1000 cal but I may have to cut that as my weight loss has slow down to a crawl. I buy the quiche at Walmart and use the slicer to make sure I get exact portions and it is 300 calories if you like quiche. You have to heat it in the oven though or otherwise it’s soggy. I also buy the frozen fish fillets and have those. Otherwise my husband will cook like chicken kebabs or I will have frozen burritos. I honestly don’t have a huge variety right now trying to stay in the weight loss parameters so I am looking forward to all the advice that you receive as well. -
I bought these skinny mixes thinking I was on to something until I got them home and realized I can’t have sprite or club soda or anything to mix them with. Anyone have any ideas using crystal light or something else I am not thinking of. I used to drink rum and Coke and I tried run and crystal light plain and it tasted gross to me.

Cheating on your partner after weight loss
ShoppGirl replied to Marissa37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be interested to know if these people that divorce were obese when they met their spouse. Before my surgery I was concerned about that statistic and my husband says I know what I will be getting when you are thin again, you were thin when I met you and that made sense to me. He knew I am a little more confident and outgoing but for the most part the same person and he is not insecure or anything about my being thin. Anyways, I started to wonder if the WLS patient or the spouse changes more often if they never knew the person when they were thin before?? Just something to think about. -
January Surgery buddies

I did the exact same thing. Had my bday dinner early And thought of the surgery as a gift. You will be very happy with your gift to yourself and feel great on your bday because you have started the journey. Congratulation. -
Where's the November buddies group gone??
ShoppGirl replied to Spinoza's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Did you try doing a search for November? Never mind I just searched it and see it is truly gone. I also see you contacted website support. Hopefully they will fix it. -
If you don’t want to log your food everyday perhaps you could do it for a few weeks and then just check in every once In a while to make sure you are on track. I know that I only cook so many meals and I have it in my head how many calories it is for one slice of cauliflower crust pizza or one burrito or whatever. I have a shake for breakfast and a P3 protein pack for lunch most days so I know how many calories I am allowed for dinner and have figured out what I can have that is on plan so I don’t have to count calories every day. I also have snacks that are around 100 calories (some are 80 some 120 but it averages out) so I just have to keep track of how many I have in a day not the actual calories. Maybe something like this would work for you. I hate to see you wasting time just being disappointed and depressed because your hunger will come back eventually and it will no longer be as easy to make the good food choices.I know that you are only eating low calorie food but you can still overeat even if it’s the right things. But you don’t necessarily have to count calories daily, Just figure out how many calories you are allowed for each meal and snack and then the first time you have the meal you have to measure and calorie count but from then on you know whether it’s on plan or not and you can either have it or you can’t unless you skip a snack or whatever. Just try a version of this that works for you.

Those with Medicare as primary and state ins as secondary
ShoppGirl replied to Alicia.vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can’t imagine that medical marijuana would be used against you. I would call again and talk to someone else and make sure and consider appealing it if it is true. On another note, if the marijuana makes you eat a lot (I know some people it does not) I would want to be off of it and have an alternative pain management plan in place before the surgery because that will stop your progress before you even get started post surgery. -
Anyone's primary doctor was against the operation?
ShoppGirl replied to Starky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are really concerned about his opinion I would ask follow up questions. Does he know of people with these bad side effects that had the operation you are considering in the recent past? Has he researched the statistical date of these bad side effects to see how often that does happen with recent surgeries? I could Go on but the most important thing is to see if the information he is referring to is from a recent surgery because back in the day WLS was risky but now it is not nearly as risky. He may be referring to people who had the surgery years ago. -
Your taste affected now.
ShoppGirl replied to Jerald180's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Immediately post surgery I did not like a lot of sweet things. They tasted extra sweet to me. That’s the only taste difference I noticed so far. -
I agree with lifestyle changer. I would call and make sure you are not already on their surgery schedule. Usually the pre op appointment is a short time before surgery.

So glad you got that out.

Premier protein clear fruit juice wasn’t bad. Immediately Post surgery everything else was too sweet to me. That was my lifeline.

March surgeries
ShoppGirl replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Bill. I am March 9 surgery. I am still 14 pounds from goal (11 from normal BMI). To slow down the loss I have heard others suggest adding in healthy fats like nuts/nut butters, avacado, and healthy oils. -
Favorite Grocery Products
ShoppGirl replied to ChubRub's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My husband found this at Walmart. I have seen the frozen riced cauliflower but this is not frozen. It’s like the microwave rice and jt just takes one minute. It was bland but good after I added spices. -

My husband found this at Walmart so I had to try it for lunch with my leftover kabobs from last night. Wasn’t bad at all. I know a lot of you like to make things from scratch but just a heads up for busy days. -

Pants Size and Other Bariatric Sites
ShoppGirl replied to outofusernames's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
If you ever really look at a size chart they make more sizes for smaller people. There are more inches in waist and hip size between the larger sizes than the smaller ones. -
How much did weight loss slow down for you?
ShoppGirl replied to lindseylovesdogs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call and ask your surgeon if you need to be concerned. -
I wasn’t at that stage on thanksgiving but I can suggest you try one new thing at a time so if it doesn’t agree you will know what it was that didn’t. Some others have mentioned the pumpkin pie filling.
