Lost weight, but don't feel good.
ShoppGirl replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m so sorry that you are not feeling good. I never felt the big increase In energy that many others mentioned either. I just feel the same as I did before. I wonder if part of it is my bipolar medications keeping me “stable.” -
Results are in…. APPROVED
ShoppGirl replied to Tysheena84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your surgery date. Another thing to practice is slowing down your eating and taking smaller bites. This is a big challenge for many. -
I didn’t have any issues pre surgery (I just went a lot less) but post surgery I found that taking the Walmart generic of benefiber daily keeps me completely regular.

learning to let go of old eating habits
ShoppGirl replied to butterflywhisper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Walmart sells cauliflower pizza crusts in the frozen section that are quite tasty and Hershey zero sugar tastes exactly the same as real chocolate to me. For some people the sugar substitute acts like a laxative so try just a small portion at home the first time of the zero sugar candy. I also just found cauliflower pasta at Walmart (frozen) and had that last night. It was almost like the real thing. Check out the thread favorite grocery products. You will be surprised the number of options there are out there. -
On the top right there is a magnifying glass (using the website on my phone anyways). Click that and you can do a search.

Others on here have posted about it and yes they will do surgery. Some said they have special mesh underwear they give you with a pad.

Found this at Walmart. Just had it for dinner and my husband tried and didn’t even realize it was cauliflower. It’s in the freezer section -
Anyone else depressed after surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to BariJen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is not at all uncommon immediately post op. Reach out to a therapist if needed. Typically it does not last long. -
Surgery 2nd Sep just found out im pregnant !!!!
ShoppGirl replied to Vicks1990's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard of a few people mention this happening on here but none of them seemed to follow up with updates. I’m sure if you include your bariatric team in the process it will be just fine. At three months you should be able to get plenty of nutrition for you and the baby. I wonder if the cravings will be less since the hunger hormone is gone for most of us. That would be ideal. Congratulations. -
How did you figure out if you had dumping syndrome?
ShoppGirl replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 months out and I have tested it with sweets because if I’m gonna get it I want to be home when it happens. I have only tested it once but I ate half of a candy bar and it did nothing. I have not yet tested it with high fat because I don’t really cook anything like that. I figure before I ever get anything like that at a restaurant I will have to get it to go to make sure it doesn’t cause issues. -
Nervous for the next stage!
ShoppGirl replied to PCOS_Mama94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was nervous about every single step or stage I went through. It all went smoothly though and I was fine. You definitely won’t start gaining either unless you eat too many times a day or you eat super calorie dense foods. -
3 Meals vs. 6 "Meals"
ShoppGirl replied to LouLouM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad the dietician said you can have snacks. If you want to stick to his/her advice 100% you can just have a second portion of lunch and dinner until you have a chance to speak with them. -
I have heard people on here say they were slower losers and they kept losing weight up till the two year mark. You have not failed. You can still do this.

What do non-cooks eat in the 4th month?
ShoppGirl replied to Amy Braun's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
There is also a thread on this site called favorite grocery products that lists some ready made foods. -
For most people the cravings and hunger hormones are gone. For me, at least I do not have craving for large portions at all anymore. I do crave things but it’s head hunger and it’s from boredom or emotions. These are pretty easy to identify because you crave something specific, usually something that you shouldn’t have. But yes, post surgery you should be just as satisfied with a smaller meal.

Help… I cheated on Pre-op diet TWICE!
ShoppGirl replied to MsTina1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Some people only have to do two days of liquids so I’m guessing they will still do your surgery but I would be asking myself some questions. Are you really truly ready for the surgery. I passed my psyc evaluation when I shouldn’t have and I have been racing the clock in therapy trying to get a handle on my emotional and boredom eating before it’s too late. I didn’t realize I ate when board or emotionally until post surgery and the psyc didn’t ask enough questions in my opinion to discover it. Anyways, I am not saying you shouldn’t do the surgery but you possibly could benefit from talking to a bariatric therapist. Your hunger hormones should be gone post surgery but head hunger will still be an issue if you suffer from disordered eating which only you can know. I am doing it (therapy and weight loss phase) simultaneously and I have almost lost all my weight but I was a smaller BMI to start so I can afford to lose it slower than some people. (Meaning the weight should still all be off before the honeymoon phase is over for me even with the slower loss). I know once I made up my mind to do the surgery i did not want to push it back for anything. I wanted it sooner. I am just sharing my experience cause I think this has also been a harder road for me than if I completed the therapy before surgery. -
Try chopsticks. If you don’t know how to use them it will definitely slow you down.

I am 8 months out and I can eat everything in smaller portions I did pre surgery. I still have 11 pounds to goal so I don’t eat the junk anymore but I admit I did try it just to make sure I could tolerate it in moderation when I do get to maintenance. As far as drinking I used to drink rum and Cole zero which I cant have anymore so I tried it with crystal light and it’s just awful. I can’t drink it fast enough to even get a little buzz. It’s just not worth it to me to have that amount of liquid calories so I just don’t drink anymore. But if you like wine or other non fIzzy options you should be fine.

I also get the Chick-fil-A Southwest salad and eat all the toppings with just a tiny bit of dressing. I am now 8 months out and I add just a bit of the lettuce in and the salad makes two meals. I just picked one up for lunch and thought of you. They have an avocado ranch dressing that I do not like but everyone else I know loves it with the southwest salad. -

I am not a big cook either so I cut down calories at breakfast and lunch so I have more options at dinner. I have a protein shake for breakfast and a P3 protein pack for lunch then I can have like 500 calorie dinner. Your will be less at 600 calories but you likely get full on smaller portions that I do. I have to measure my portions because I do not feel full unless I eat more than I should be able to. My protein shake is 160 cal and the P3 is 170 cal. I also have a couple 100 cal snacks and end up eating around 1000 cal but I may have to cut that as my weight loss has slow down to a crawl. I buy the quiche at Walmart and use the slicer to make sure I get exact portions and it is 300 calories if you like quiche. You have to heat it in the oven though or otherwise it’s soggy. I also buy the frozen fish fillets and have those. Otherwise my husband will cook like chicken kebabs or I will have frozen burritos. I honestly don’t have a huge variety right now trying to stay in the weight loss parameters so I am looking forward to all the advice that you receive as well. -
I bought these skinny mixes thinking I was on to something until I got them home and realized I can’t have sprite or club soda or anything to mix them with. Anyone have any ideas using crystal light or something else I am not thinking of. I used to drink rum and Coke and I tried run and crystal light plain and it tasted gross to me.

Cheating on your partner after weight loss
ShoppGirl replied to Marissa37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be interested to know if these people that divorce were obese when they met their spouse. Before my surgery I was concerned about that statistic and my husband says I know what I will be getting when you are thin again, you were thin when I met you and that made sense to me. He knew I am a little more confident and outgoing but for the most part the same person and he is not insecure or anything about my being thin. Anyways, I started to wonder if the WLS patient or the spouse changes more often if they never knew the person when they were thin before?? Just something to think about.
