    Potatoes 5 weeks out

I have tried them and they go down fine but I try to stay away from them just because I know myself with carbs. I can’t eat just once. After I have them I crave them for days.

    Weight gain

I don’t think if you really stretched it that there is a way to shrink it but you CAN still go back to eating smaller portions and eat until you are satisfied instead of full. I don’t know if this is quite as easy as having restriction kick in but it is doable. For whatever reason I have always been able to eat more than I should at each stage so I just measure out what I am supposed to eat and make myself stop there. Trust me, not feeling full I want to eat more but I don’t. And after I wait a few minutes I usually realize that it was enough and I am no longer hungry. Try measuring again and at least stop eating and give you body a few minutes to feel full. Hopefully this will help.

    Liquid protein supplement

I was able to get in my protein between the shakes and the clear protein drinks. I did try the unflavored powder but I could taste it and didn’t like it.

    High BMI and….

If you are self pay I have heard of people with BMI as low as 30 having the surgery. If you are looking for insurance to pay it will probably be bmi of 35 WITH a comorbidity or BMI of 40 without. Don’t be so sure you don’t have a comorbidity though. Many overweight people have sleep apnea. Many teams will send you for a sleep study right off the bat.

    Paxil and Sleeve

I don’t take Paxil but I do take a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant so I asked about meds and i was told that with sleeve typically it is only the extended release medications that cause issues. Of course there is always the outliers so you should stay in close touch with your doctor if you don’t feel the same but typically dosage will stay the same. After they lose weight, some people are able to reduce their dosages of antidepressants.

    Chocolate cravings!!!

Quest makes candy bites that are chocolate and the caramel one is quite tasty. They are 80 calories if I remember correctly and they at least have some protein in them. Perhaps that will fill you up a bit and you will want just one. I found them at target but but not my target. They have them on Amazon if you can’t find them near you.

    Skin

You look young so you have that going for you but how long You have been overweight and genetics also play A role as well as how much weight you intend to lose. I am in my early 40’s and I have lost 66 pounds and so far I do not see any loose skin however I am still 6 pounds from the top of the normal range for my BMI. I have a feeling if I decided to adjust my goal And I did get much smaller I may have some. But I agree with others that You can’t prevent it if it’s going to happen and the only way to get rid of it is surgery. The good news is that if you have a lot, and can prove it is causing you issues you may be able to get insurance to pay to have it removed. There are plastic surgery forums where you Can ask about how that works. I was warned that I did not have enough weight to lose to have enough skin to qualify for insurance to pay before my surgery. I sorta guessed from that statement that the more you have to lose the better your chances are of insurance paying for plastics. Which makes sense I guess a bigger loss equals more excess skin.

    Reading labels.

I know that we Mostly all had to see a nutritionist or dietician of some sort pre surgery at least once but I’m guessing we have all received varying levels of education about labels. I know that my appointment they just went over the post op diets early stages nothing after real food and nothing about calories, carbs, sugars, etc. i was just thinking I may not be the only one feeling sorta lost in this new world of trying to read labels to make better choices and thought maybe a thread to ask questions related to this might be beneficial to others as well. I am almost 9 months post op and I still have a shake for breakfast and lunchable or P3 for lunch almost every day to keep calories low so I can have a couple low calorie snacks and a sensible dinner. I only pay close attention to the calories now but I glance at the percentages of carbs And sugars and just make sure they are not super high. I know I have a lot to learn about labels. Any advice would be appreciated. Was anyone given specific numbers to not exceed daily? And anyone else with questions I don’t know to ask please jump in. I’m sure we can all learn something helpful.
  12. I have heard that hot tea can make you feel full by others. Perhaps that will work for you when you know you shouldn’t be hungry.
  13. Man that stinks. Well I guess I made you feel a little better cause at least you can go back somewhat easily. Did you see the post someone tried to start about favorite ALDI products. I am hoping that it takes off so I can just reference that thread when making a list the first time I go. Are there any must haves that you recommend?

    January surgery anyone?

Ooh no. I am so sorry. Did they at least give you some idea of when you should be rescheduled??
  15. Living in south Florida this is not a terribly bad thing. I used to sweat a lot. To the point that I sought out meds for excessive sweating. I would sweat Standing still in the shade. 65 pounds less insulation and I don’t get cold but I don’t sweat anymore either unless I am in the direct south Florida sun or doing some physical activity. My husband freezes though (he is just naturally slim and fit) so I get what you mean. He will be wearing a light jacket in the middle of summer outside and everyone around is comfortable or even hot. It’s weird.

    Reading labels.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a particular nutrition textbook? I googled just to see what was out there and there are so many to choose from. I put a call into my dr office and the NP directed me to fda.govs website on the new nutrition labels which I just checked out and it was helpful to understand the information it is giving and why they feel each thing is important but I think I am ready to learn in more detail now. One thing I found interesting with the new label is that the serving size is NOT a Recommendation of how much we should eat. It is just the amount they think the average person does eat. I was using that as a recommendation of how much I should eat so I learned something today at least.

    Reading labels.

A textbook is a great idea. Something that someone studying to become a nutritionist or dietician would start out with. Yea that cauliflower pasta has cauliflower as the first ingredient but it also lists three kinds of flour so it’s not exactly pure. These are the things I want to be able to recognize. Yea I just have the lunchable or P3 out of convenience. Well that and I am a creature of habit. I guess I could stand to switch it up a bit at lunchtime. I just get lazy and do what works. Lol. Anyways, thanks for the idea of the textbook and the suggestions.
  18. I am only 9 months out but I had breast implants years ago. I know it’s not the same but I just wanted to add that maybe a cleaning girl would be helpful. That’s the stuff that I was tempted to do that I shouldn’t and they would probably be willing to reach a few things from the top shelf for you while they were there. I had a home health aide come in to check on me daily after my implants and after a melonoma excision and I didn’t feel like they did anything and remember thinking I would have rather have someone to pick up things a little. Just something to think about.
  19. I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I know I would have been so upset if anything delayed my surgery. Try to take advantage of the time by practicing you new habits for post surgery. Eating slowly has been the hardest thing for me to master. I am almost 9 months out and my husband still has to remind me to slow down.

    Hungry all the time

Now that I have mentioned her I think she will get a notification. Im sure if so she will respond, but if not maybe you can look for some of her posts about hunger all the time.

    Favorite Aldi’s grocery store finds

Seadoo: Really? There is a thread called favorite grocery store products and several of the things that were posted were from Aldi’s. Is it possible you just weren’t impressed cause they have alot of diet food and you weren’t looking for it at the time? I don’t know, I’ve never been to one but it seems like they have many healthier options.

    Hungry all the time

Lizonaplane went through this. She ruled out all the other causes and it was true hunger. There are many things it could be disguised as hunger though. Hopefully she will respond but one thing I remember she said helped satisfy the hunger was warm beverages such as tea.

    Pregnant

There is a forum for pregnancy. Not sure if anyone is active. I would make an appointment to get tested and loop in your surgeon ASAP. I would assume at five months out you can get the nutrition you and baby need but you probably need to make some adjustments to how you have been eating.

    Reading labels.

I am eating around 1000-1200 calories and aim for 80 grams of protein (I am 169 pounds so that’s almost right at 1 gram per 2 pounds coincidentally MiniGastricBypassDude) I do not know my lean body mass Vikingbeast but will have to look into that and see what that calculates out to and ask my team which numbers they want me to go by) I only drink one shake in the morning because it’s convenient and I like the taste and the caffeine boost (caffe latte by premiere protein) and I usually have a Turkey and cheese lunchable for lunch or a P3 pack. My weight loss had been steady and my protein has been fine on the two labs so far so I think my calories and protein are fine for the phase I am in. I just want to better understand WHAT I am getting my calories from. Like I did not know, Arabesque, the recommended sugar amounts for women is 25 of added sugar. I don’t know the recommendation for fat or carbs either. GradyCat, my team does not offer free visits but I wouldn’t mind paying if I felt that I would get the answers I am looking for. I just did not feel like the lady they sent me to answered my questions. I assume she knows what she is talking about, she just makes it sooooo technical and talks over my head on this topic. I need to understand the basics first. SleeverSk, I have the Baritastic app and I used that for a while but I am a creature of habit and have the same handful of meals so for the most part I know the calories and that was all I was looking at. I may have to start using it again now that I am looking at that other stuff. I just need guidelines for me for each of those numbers. Not necessarily for weight loss cause I am losing without paying too much attention to them (just eating reasonably healthy foods) but to make sure I am not eating junk. What started all of this was a chat about cauliflower pasta when I realized that I do not really know for sure whether it is a good (at least better than the real deal) or a great option. There are some flours listed in the ingredients that I need to do some research on to see if they are nutritious or if it’s just pasta disguised as cauliflower. But to start I just want to know for example how much fat is recommended for me per day and how many carbs. Like your peanut butter, Arabesque, that was something bad disguised as good I do not want to fall into those traps so I need to get educated about all this.
