Sounds like someone didn’t calculate correctly?? What are the shakes? Can you purchase them elsewhere?? Did you double check your directions and make sure you weren’t taking in more shakes than they expected??
-
Hello. Congratulations on starting your journey and welcome. Do you have any questions??

Have you had your surgery yet? How are you doing with recovery or the pre op if you are still on that??

Family Dynamics - How do you deal with meals???
ShoppGirl replied to HealthierBefore45's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea I guess I wasn’t very clear. What I meant to say is that if you and your husband do like the same things it shouldn’t be much different post surgery because you will just eat less of what he eats and focus on the protein having a few bites of veggies if you have room. In the very beginning you will be eating differenly of course but the liquid phase requires no cooking and the purée phase can be whatever your family is having puréed and if you don’t like that (I didn’t) it’s fairly easy stuff like refried beans. Soft food phase you may be able to plan a menu where you can eat what others do unless you have a really fussy tummy still but for sure once you return to normal foods you will be able to enjoy the same meal. This is all assuming that you make a lean protein, a veggie and probably another side for your hubby. Also, you may find that you get some very helpful tips for yourself and your kids in terms of nutrition because you will have a dietician or nutritionist that you work with most likely because this is often a requirement of your insurance and team. If it isn’t I really think you should consider seeing one anyways as they can be a great deal of help along this process. -
YOUR favorite protein recipes and YOUR favorite sugar free drinks?

I don’t know about a gallon sized one but a yeti cup works great to keep things cold. They aren’t cheap but they make coolers and cups for outdoor sports and they really work. -
Family Dynamics - How do you deal with meals???
ShoppGirl replied to HealthierBefore45's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like your have your plate full at mealtime (pardon the pun). I saw this on a show about nutrition for kids. You make one nutritious thing that you know they will like so you know they will not go hungry but then put other options on their plate as well and let them eat what they want. Not sure iF this will work for one or both of your two but it seemed like a good idea to me. I guess the idea is to find more nutritious options that they do like. I definitely agree you have to worry about yourself first though. If you don’t, and you aren’t around Then who is gonna do it. Your health matters too. My husband and I cook our own meals most nights because we eat different things (we always have really). Perhaps yours could pitch In A bit?? Does he mind cooking?? If not, he may eat less take out if he gets to choose his own meals. It will be fairly easy for you through. If you cook a lean protein a starch and a veggie. You just eat the protein and skip the sides for the most part post surgery maybe having a few bites of veggies if you have room. -
Yea I don’t think many people even install bands anymore. Never mind as a revision from sleeve. I hope you get some answers soon though, that would scare me a little too.

YOUR favorite protein recipes and YOUR favorite sugar free drinks?

I haven’t tried alot of the powders. I tried a couple and they just didn’t blend well so I stick to ready made shakes. I like the premiere protein caffe latte (it has caffeine In it though so ask your team first). I also like the crystal light drink enhancers. Their is also cirkul water enhancers if you like to play with the intensity and have a variety of flavors. They sell the starter kits at bed bath beyond but they also have a website. -
iOS Medication Reminder
ShoppGirl replied to AboutDangTime's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have recurring alarms set for mine as well but that’s good to know, a quieter reminder could be necessary in some situations, thanks. -
Agreed. You just had a pretty major surgery and our bodies take time to adjust to just that but the reduced calories on top of it make this recovery that much harder. Plus if you are female your hormones are possibly out of whack which can make things seem even worse. As you start to take in a few more calories things should start to get better. If you are really struggling reach out to your team for someone to talk to.

Do you feel ANY better? My thought is that you should feel a little bit better each day. If your 8 days out and still feel gas pain like day one I would definitely call your team.

How long did it take your surgeons office to submit to insurance???
ShoppGirl replied to raspberrylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your surgery didn’t go on and they couldn’t fill your slot the surgeon would lose a huge chunk of money. Because of that I seriously doubt they would schedule you unless they were very certain you were going to be approved. I know it’s hard but try not to worry about it. Just remind yourself of how many times you have worried needlessly about things that worked out Just fine (I know I’ve done my fair share). -

I agree with others. It’s just a fluctuation. Weigh yourself less often. -
Went to see my doctor today....

Congratulations, you look incredible. Getting off of some of the meds is the best NSV though. Keep up the good work. -
Full liquid soup favorites ...
ShoppGirl replied to Gin14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the cream of chicken and the broccoli cheese soups but I strained the chunks out with a mesh strainer. Walmart deli has soups that are similar to Panara. They have quite a few flavors now. I like the panara broccoli cheese better than the Walmart one but some of theirs are just as good. -
Congratulations on your loss so far. Keep it up!!

I agree it can’t hurt to run it by your team. It should be getting a little better day by day. To feel the same as day one at three weeks out I would make sure to tell them that.

Good to know. I haven’t tried them yet but I am always looking for a deal so I would’ve tried them eventually I’m sure.

Teeth Issues After Surgery?
ShoppGirl replied to Darkangel505's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Okay I went to the dentist today and he said my issues would not be related to my surgery. My chipped fillings he is guessing have to do with teeth clenching or grinding. Anyways, just wanted to update that it definitely doesn’t have to do with surgery. -

Who has done this alone with no support system?
ShoppGirl replied to 18kDays's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I second what kcuster said. I didn’t do it alone but I pretty much did. My husband dropped me off before work and stopped by to visit after when he watched tv for a few minutes and then left. Granted he would’ve been more present if I needed him but I did not have a lot of pain or any issues really. When I got home from hospital I took care of myself. He popped in and asked if I needed anything a few times but quickly realized I was managing on my own just fine. I would have the number handy for a visiting nurse just in case you have a tougher recovery but so long as you have a typical one you should be just fine. -
Anyone with a lower BMI get weight loss surgery to reduce comorbidities?
ShoppGirl replied to Barihopeful's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Many doctors will do the surgery with a BMI of 30 but most insurance will not pay for anything lower than 35. Tons of studies have shown that the surgery does reduce comorbidities but if you say he has a strong family history it may not. Is his family also obese? My husband and his family are all very slim and they almost all have high blood pressure. He doesn’t even like salt and buys all low sodium foods. It’s just genetic sometimes. -
10 day post opt gastric bypass
ShoppGirl replied to Mrs.Solis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe try the clear protein drinks. If it’s the milk In the shake you should be fine with those. Take it slow though in case it’s the sweetener. If so there are several that are used and you may only have an issue with a certain one. -
First Week Post Op Nerves Are Shot
ShoppGirl replied to jdardenhill2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As usually I couldn’t have said it any better than arabesque. Glad you decided to tell your family that they have helped you through the worst of it and you can take it from here. This entire process is just a learning curve just take it one day at a time and you’ve got this.
