I googled And there are a few more reasons to stay away from caffeine and even decaf to a certain extent. These include the acidity upsetting your new smaller tummy And it interfering with the absorption of certain vitamins and nutrients. And again, there may be more. Just be certain that you are following your teams advise.

Unexpected weight loss problems or almost problems.
ShoppGirl replied to Arabesque's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How frustrating. Once it recognized you they should have let you restyle your hair and take another one. It’s kinda scary that we are so reliant on technology they don’t know what to do when there is an outlier like that. -
What was your “Moment” ?
ShoppGirl replied to GrannyMaggie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My moment this time around was when I seen a picture of myself with all the women during a holiday party. It was so abundantly clear that I wasn’t just the biggest one in the room but I looked absolutely miserable. A time that should be nothing but fun with family and friends and I didn’t even feel like I belonged. I am just not comfortable in my own skin at this size. Then a couple of my labs started creeping up even more and that was the final straw. -

Congratulations on your weight loss. I hope your sweating issue has resolved with your being closer to goal. I have question though? Do you recall the name of the rx your dermatologist gave you for sweating? I have a similar issue which I know is exacerbated by my weight but even when I lost weight with the sleeve it was still an issue. It’s horrible to live with. I have seen every specialist and had every test I can think of. My dermatologist gave me oxybutwnin which was great for my bladder but did nothing for the sweating. I would be thrilled to know that thete is another option. -
Do you like refried beans? I pretty much lived on those two meals up until I could have eggs and then tuna and chicken salad

What about the ricotta bake? Just do a search on here and you will see a few ways to make it. It’s just basically lasagna without the noodles.

Proffee is just coffee and protein shake. I like mine iced with the premiere protein caramel shake. Someone in another forum just shared with me that the Walmart brand shakes taste just the same as premiere protein and I bought some today but haven’t tried them yet. It’s $1.50 cheaper for 4 so hopefully they are good. 🤞

As long as you are getting your protein and vitamins you should be fine. I didn’t experience that with my first surgery but mine didn’t work and I’m pending revision. My never been obese husband eats like that though. He thinks of eating as a chore and always has. I tell him all that time that he needs to be studied. I can only imagine it’s an adjustment but I feel like it would be ideal for food to not be the center of my thoughts anymore. Maybe just set a couple alarms to remind you when you get busy to get the necessities in. I do think it will get a little easier though based on what I have seen on here over the past few years.

Congratulations on your loss. At least two of the reasons I have heard that some doctors seem to say steer clear of caffeine is because one it affects healing and two it makes you pee more which is counter productive if you are struggling to hydrate. There could be other reasons too but those are what I have heard.

Only two days pre op diet
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Well I called again just to be safe. She looked up my BMI and said that the two days will be fine. I guess if three different people said it, even if it was not the dr himself, it should be right. I just get so anxious about medical stuff. I feel like they are so non chalant about things sometimes. -
I just read that they make blue light filtering screen covers for laptops and televisions. They sell them on Amazon. Just an FYI. They actually sell TVs with technology that use less blue light now too but they are still a bit more expensive and of course who wants to hang a new tv now a days.

I don’t think it has anything to do with surgery but since I have had to get up super early for all these tests I have wacked out my sleep schedule and like a baby I have my days and nights mixed up. I tried to fight it by staying awake and I only slept for 3 hours two nights in a row then last night I fell asleep early but I forgot to set alarm and I slept for 16 hours. My friend suggested that I try melatonin and I just bought some but when I asked the pharmacists about taking it with my other meds she said to start with the lowest dose because some research suggests that it may wack out the way your body naturally produces it. Has anyone used this as a temporary thing to just get back on track or does it cause even more issues.

I can seem to open what you have and of course I didn’t save the recipe I tried but I remember it called for vanilla protein powder (I’m sure you could substitute any flavor you like). If the recipe you have doesn’t call for protein powder you may need to add a splash more milk. To up the protein you can add things like Greek yogurt, nuts, seeds, or nut butter (just be sure to add natural nut butter and be conscious of the calories).

Sparkling water/ carbonated drinks
ShoppGirl replied to Fars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was advised no soda, ever again but I know that I have heard of people letting it sit out and go mostly flat. Maybe try that first if anything. Honestly if it were me I would just wait a little longer. Three weeks seems pretty soon and when I googled it one site did mentions three months. Maybe best to just run it by your team to be safe. You have gone through too much to risk hurting yourself. -
My journey begins Sept 11

To add to @ms.sss comment. Iif you are weird like me and hate people seeing pictures of you , Ask one of the nurses ti take the ones at pre op, pre surgery and post op. After that you should be feeling much more confident and not mind having them taken by loved ones. -
Having doubts.. lost a lot pre surgery.
ShoppGirl replied to Jordan.RNY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my Dr at my preop that I was getting nervous and that I struggle with anxiety and he told me for every horror story i read that I need to search for about 99 stories of surgeries that Went perfectly smooth. The problem is that people are far more likely to post their stories if they are in bad shape looking for help then if they are out their living their best life because the surgery did exactly what it is supposed to. And if you are going to really consider the risks of complications For surgery. You really should also consider the risks of not doing it. Especially if you already have comorbidoties. -
Ozempic being investigated for suicidal thoughts…
ShoppGirl replied to Fred in Pa's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
That’s certainly good to be aware of but honestly it doesn’t surprise me. As it’s a risk With many drugs. To include every single antidepressant and mood stabilizer I have been on. -
Well I’m only tried it the last couple of years and thought it was so Hokey and weird. I felt absolutely ridiculous at first I swear but I had a therapist that kept gently telling me to just give it a fair shake and suggested that I practice in private when I wasn’t anxious. Well, to my surprise it actually does work for me. I have cut down significantly on my reliance of anxiety medication and also learned to be mindful doing other things such as crafts to reduce stress. I totally get the people that think it’s all a crock. I was absolutely one of them, but it actually works. 🤷🏼♀️

Hysterectomy & Sleeve at the same time Questions
ShoppGirl replied to MommyMeghan's topic in The Gals' Room
This post is older. I am thinking that your doctor may not want to do both at the same Time. For one it would take getting two doctors schedules to mesh up but also they try to keep you under the least time possible. Plus, healing time may be longer than if they were done separately. Couldn’t hurt to ask him or her, though. I’m sure they will have an opinion. -

Did you lose this weight on the liver shrink diet? If so, that diet is specifically designed to drop a big chunk of weight quickly but unfortunately the weight loss won’t continue to come off that easily long term. Only you know if you have given it your best shot at natural weight loss in the past but if you are like many of us here you have tried a number of times and nothing works to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off. It’s your body and there is no shame in rescheduling if you feel like you need to give it one more try but also keep in mind that the biggest regret that many people list about bariatric surgery is not having done it sooner. Maybe make a list of the pros and cons and one of all the ways you have tried to lose weight in the past. Also keep in mind that pre surgery jitters are perfectly normal. You wouldn’t be sane if you weren’t at least a little nervous about major surgery. You are not alone. -
I have the free version of the calm app and I use it for mindfulness during the day which helps sometimes with mild anxiety. I think I need to practice it more when I’m not anxious to get better at it for it to work for major anxiety but that’s another story. I tried one of the sleep ones last night and it was just weird. Some others that are available on the app for sleep look promising but they are locked for the unpaid version. I do t like the keep sounds Most of them just make me feel like I need to pee. lol. I wish they would let you listen once for free and then make you pay for it so I would know if it’s worth it to sign up.

Only two days pre op diet
ShoppGirl replied to ShoppGirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I guess I should add that this is the same surgeon that did my sleeve just 3 years ago and I had a week long liver shrink diet before the two day liquid diet. I’m wondering if it’s different since the sleeve part is already done?? -
Before and after so far

Looks like you’re already standing a little taller. Congratulations. -
I made these using a recipe online and they are good. One tip Though is if you use a mason jar, get the wide mouth ones. Otherwise they are a challenge to clean. Hope you enjoy.

If you like cauliflower, try the Walmart one. It’s cauliflower Parmesan and it’s really good
