Other reasons for surgery
ShoppGirl replied to Grider's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unless they have to do something different because of your Existing GI issues I don’t see you having more. I haven’t had any and I am a year post op. -
Introduction, First appointment tomorrow
ShoppGirl replied to ThinIce's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am a year out and I don’t like all the attention about my weight either. The novelty wears off though and people stop commenting about it. When they say that they think you have lost enough and not to get too small, though, just say that you are working with a doctor and you will stick to their advise about what weight is healthy for you. Being a private person too I totally get it but it’s worth going through that to get all the benefits that weight loss brings. -
Just 80 calories per FOUR tablespoons vs Two tablespoons in the one sold in stores. I used Splenda instead. Six packets so far but It may need more it’s chilling. https://www.slenderkitchen.com/recipe/brownie-batter-chocolate-hummus

Another thing I forgot to mention that happens to help alot with anxiety is organization. What Suzannethemom did by making all her lists was to control what she could and that helps a great deal with anxiety. I was advised to do that during a medical issue that was very stressful by a nurse. I kept a binder with all my appointments and labs and scans, etc and it helped tremendously with my anxiety.

It goes by faster than you would think. Just take it one step at a time in terms of the procedures and evaluations and hang out here in your free time learning as much as you can to make things a little easier and less stressful post op.

March 2022 Surgery Buddies
ShoppGirl replied to LilaNicole20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well hopefully you will remain pretty much asymptomatic but at least you got the heads up so you don’t spread it and so that you don’t have to recover from surgery while your body is fighting COVID too. I know it sucks to be postponed but your surgery date will come and go before you know it. Trust me. I am a year out now and can’t believe it how fast that year went by. -

Hey. We NEED a bariatric food critic. I was just saying that on another thread. At least I do need someone to tell me what’s good and where to go for stuff that I can actually eat. I need variety and Thats tough. Please please start a thread post surgery when you can eat normal food again with products and restaurants, etc. a bariatric friendly food critic.

March 2022 Surgery Buddies

At least yours will be gone. I was due to be on mine and I skipped the white pills on my bc to try and keep it away but had never tried that so I was worried the whole time that it was going to start all the way up to surgery day. And afterwards too really. It never did thankfully but I would’ve much rather just had it the week before and been done with it. -

That would be stressful food getting stuck when your in public but at one year out from VSG I do dine out. I mostly get salads so far but I study the menu and nutrition info online for a while before I go. One thing that helps is I usually have my big meal at dinner but on days that I dine out for lunch I will have a small dinner (whatever I would have had for lunch). -

Snow crab was one of my first soft foods. It’s delicious. I like it better than lobster unless I can get my hands on Maine lobster. -

They run pretty good sales on snow crab legs around the holidays. Just watch the sales papers. -

Thanks for that. I was telling my aunt the other day that we need a bariatric food critic here to compile all the tips and tricks for eating out. Looks like someone started. -
They make arm sleeves that are technically s designed to protect your skin from the sun but I bet they would work. Just search sun sleeves or UPF sleeves. Oops sorry didn’t realize this was the guys room but hopefully that helps anyways. Lol

We wouldn’t have anyone to talk to. Lmao

I doubt there is much in your labs that would make them deny you. People with far higher BMI’s and many more medical problems get this surgery. They are a higher risk of course but they do the surgery with hopes of improving some of these medical issues.

Ooh wow I can remember counting down the days too. How exciting it is waiting to begin this great journey. Congratulation on your surgery date. -
Ooh they have those at Walmart too. The jar and the pouches. Thanks.
-
Ooh wow they have tons of them. Any brand suggestions.

From what my team said. Nothing will help with the hair loss. The supplements will help with the hair that grows back in to make it stronger and healthier but it won’t help the accelerated loss unfortunately. I wonder for those reading this that are pre op if taking it pre surgery would help prevent it??

Pregnant eight months after vsg
ShoppGirl replied to Crystalmoon's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
There are people who have posted that they got pregnant on here but I don’t think many stuck around cause I never really heard anymore from them. First off, congratulations. I would contact my team and let them know I was pregnant and speak frequently with the nutritionist to make sure you are eating the right things for you and baby. -
I don’t have menopause yet but I sweat because of a medication I am on and post surgery I was hoping to be cold all the time but I still sweat ALOT. I don’t think it always helps.
