    Itchy!!

The itchiness we all know is a sign of healing but the little bumps is odd. Couldn’t hurt to put a call into your surgeon.

    January Surgery buddies

I am on bipolar meds which are notorious to interfere with weight loss. I have lost slow but steady and I am about ten pounds from goal.

    JAKI

Honestly, I see just as many older people on this site as I do much younger ones. I think we all just want to be slim at any age.

    Why did I gain 3lbs?

Sleevemealone covered it. Congrats on your weight loss.
  7. Are you able to contact your team? It seems like week three when you are on full liquids you could have protein shakes and add protein powder to your soup. I know nothing about israel but maybe protein products aren’t so easily available there so They don’t put them on the list but maybe they would still be okay for you to consume??

    Scar camouflage tattoos

I had a test spot done on a burn scar years ago and it was called permanent makeup but the spot does not match my skin coloring at all. I decided not to do it because of that but I was younger and did not do any research to see if they were experienced or anything. Apparently doing a test spot is something they do though.
  9. You can’t even do protein shakes after clear liquid phase? I mean I get that a shake is stage beyond clear liquids and for whatever reason your doctor wants a longer time on phase one but why can’t you have shakes week three at least.
  10. If you were allowed to have caffeine the premiere Protein café latte was the only one that wasn’t too sweet to me post surgery
  11. I was worried about this when I was considering bypass and I read about a filter you put in your pants for flatulence. That could help one of your issues.

    Burning bowel movements

I haven’t heard anyone describe those exact symptoms yet. I would put a call in to your team.

    Psych evaluation

Mine was a joke. They didn’t even ask about my eating. Seemed like more of a formality than anything. They are supposed to pickup on any untreated issues like mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse or eating disorders.
  14. WOW, that’s a tremendous amount of info. I had the sleeve so not all applies to me but I’m sure that will be extremely helpful to people out there that have the mini bypass as an option. Congratulation on your success and best of luck keeping it off.

    Smoking pot post-rny

I have heard of a few people that do it on here but I am not positive whether they asked their team to make sure it was wise. I would be very worried that it would make me overeat. I definitely would not do it real early our when portion size should be so tiny.
  16. Many people on here say they sleep in their recliners. If you do not have one the medical supply makes a bed wedge that helps you sleep elevated.
  17. I have never heard of that one. I agree it can’t hurt to put a call into your team.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I am 8 months out and less than ten pounds from goal and I will admit I have eaten things that were “off plan”. Pizza, yep I’ve done that one too. I was curious to see if it agreed with me. I use the term off plan as many do around here but actually no food is off plan according to my team. I just make sure to figure out the calories and it usually means I do not have any snacks that day. i also do not have any issues with food. I haven’t eaten anything that upset my new little stomach. I also can eat more than I should be able to at each given stage without feeling restriction and even further I don’t have to eat super slow anymore which all seemed like maybe the surgery wasn’t successful And I would fail. But, I measure my food so that I don’t overeat and try to still slow down My eating so I can get more satisfaction out of what little I do eat and this seems to be working because I continue to lose. i also did not see a thinner person in the mirror. I had to see before and after pictures to see a difference and even then I almost had to pretend it was someone else I was looking at in order to see what other people see. This is not at all uncommon.

    UGH - Thanksgiving Regrets

Do you like margarita, pina colada or strawberry daiquiri? There are margaritaville drink mixes on Amazon that are like crystal light. Maybe that will feel more like you are getting a treat.

    Nausea after dinner??

I experienced nausea in the morning with my vitamins when I wasn’t taking them with much in my belly but now with a protein shake I am fine. Maybe you are just more sensitive to them. I would try skipping the iron or taking it at another time and see what happens.

    Breakfast

I had the sleeve but I still have just a protein shake for breakfast. It’s convenient and it helps me get a jump start on my protein

    Pain after GS surgery

As catwoman said pain seems to vary tremendously amongst people and I think we hear more from the people who have a lot of issues than we hear from the ones who do not. I was one of those with a pretty uneventful recovery. I didn’t even have the gas pains that most people have the first couple days (I am still not sure if my dr just didn’t use the gas on me or what). I was tired for a few days and moody but other than that I felt pretty normal. I had very little pain post surgery. I even asked them to take me off the pain rx in the hospital. They put me on Tylenol. But I know someone who had surgery a couple months before me that said she had to ask for stronger pain meds and she had the same doctor so I assume she woke up on the same pain rx as me. If you do have pain and you aren’t shy about asking they will definitely give you something to help make it manageable.
  23. That’s really weird because we are mostly all told not to drink while we eat??

    Treadmill recommendations

I found one on Amazon that is designed to be used under a desk. The arms fold down and it can be slid under a bed if necessary. Which is nice in my tiny house. It’s not super easy so I just do it when I am wanting the house to be really neat. I only spent about $300. It’s a little more now. I have had it for a few years now and it serves the purpose. The two downsides are the weight limit which I think was 250 and the fact that you can’t do inclines but these were not deal breakers for me.
