got first fill today only 1cc????

Today was my first fill. My surgery was June 27. The surgeon put in 4cc and wants me back at the end of sept for more. He said from that point it will probably be only .5cc at a time. Today I am on protein shakes and cream soup and no problem so far.I was surprised that he put in that much frankly and a little scared but I feel okay. I have the realize band.

    No Energery

You could just be lacking protein. I found early on after my surgery if I didn't get in 60 mg of protein I felt weak and tired. If you are eating enough maybe you are just depressed. It is a hugh adjustment to make. Hang in there. Time will take care of it. Right now you arn't seeing any reward for your hard work. Once you do it will get lighter at the end of the tunnel.

    Blurry Vision?

Have you tried a pill for nausea? I used that for a couple days after surgery with no side affects and it worked like magic.

post op day 3 gas pains

Hi Sue. I think our age does have something to do with recovery, I noticed the younger gals seems to snap back a lot faster. I also think it depends on how much gas you have. I got it real bad in my shoulder and back.I am now 6 weeks post op and I am 100%. I still am a tiny bit sore in my port side if I lean over a lot , like when I weeded last week. Paid for that with being sore for a while. I have lost 16.5 pounds and go for my first fill Thursday. I am looking forward to it as I have no restriction. I am sticking to 800-1000 calories a day through will power, It will be nice to have the help of the band. Hang in there it will get much better.

post op day 3 gas pains

The best tip that was given to me was by my surgeons nurse. She told me to lie on my left side with left leg straight and right leg over a pillow . she told me to then bring up my right leg up toward my stomach. It was the best advise I ever got. Within a few minutes the gas started passing. I too suffered really bad with gas. This helped me a LOT.

    Blurry Vision?

I would go see a doctor. You might have something else going on. All vision changes I have heard about are all after surgery probably related to anesthesia. I know blurry vision can be caused by a lot of things one being diabetes. I wouldn't ignore.

    Blurry Vision?

Don't worry about your eyesight. I had the exact same thing(couldn't see the tv worth a damn). My husband had gastric surgery two months before my band and went through the exact same thing and then after a week or so his vision returned to normal. So I talked to my doctor on my post op visit as I wanted to get an eyeglass change but because my husbands vision cleared I asked him if could be a side effect of surgery. He just smiled and said it happens all the time and will correct it self. Do not go making any changes on your prescription. Darn if he wasn't right. With in a week or so I started to notice I could see better. My vision is back to completely normal. The worst part was thinking I was going blind. It helped that my husband had experienced the same thing.

    pain

Yes, I had it real bad on about the third week believe it or not. It hurt to walk and especially to breath. I didn't feel much better when I was sitting. I went to my doctor as I was worried about a pulmonary clot. I had a cat scan and lot of other test. Bottom line just gas or muscle. It went away in a day or so. The worst part was the anxiety. Once I knew what it was I was okay. If it really starts to worry you call your doctor but it probably is just gas. I had gas really bad for a couple of weeks after surgery. I even had it in the shoulder and back on about the second day and that was really painful. Try and walk and be patient it will get better. I know I got very depressed because it seemed so bad and lasted so long for me. On about the 8 th day I could see light at the end of the tunnel. Take Care

    Change of heart

I too struggled very hard with the decision between the two surgery's. My son had the GB 3 years ago and is now 175 pounds. He has kept it off with mountain biking. My husband had the GB two months ago and has lost 44 pounds. These guys lost weight so fast that it made that surgery attractive. The two main reasons I chose the band was I was concerned 5 years down the road I would not be able to keep weight off with the GB. With the band I can say give me more restriction. Once you stretch the pouch on the GB your pretty much out of luck unless your well deciplined. Clearly I am not. The second reason was the nutritionally deficiency. I am small boned even thought I am 100 pounds overweight and osteoporosis is a big concern in my family. I felt that I would have a lot of issues with this down the road if I picked the GB. So that is how I came to my decision. Hope it helps

    Hey from Georgia!

Not too far from me. I am in Woodstock Ga. Don't worry about the no restriction. From what I hear that only last until you have a fill. The emphasis is on healing until the first fill not losing weight. If you do lose that is just a bonus. My daughter is getting married in March and I want to lose a total of 95 pounds. I know I will probably only do half of that before the wedding but I need to get a head start. I am a very SLOW loser.

    Hey from Georgia!

Where in Georgia are you from? I was banded on 6-27-08 by Dr Christopher Hart. I get my first fill on 8/14. I am nervous but excited. I too have no resitriction now but following a 800 calorie diet. Not so hard now as I am motivated. Have lost 14 pounds since surgery.
