    cottage cheese

I like tajin seasoning - it’s a chili lime seasoning. It’s good on plain yogurt and cottage cheese.

    Potatoes 5 weeks out

I’ve had mashed and roasted potatoes. I haven’t tried fries yet. Hopefully I won’t like them when I do, but I doubt I would be that lucky.

    Carbs after surgery

I had surgery in November. I had 4 pieces of a sushi roll for dinner one day. It didn’t bother me.

    1 Month Post Op Pictures

    Congratulations! You’re doing great!
  5. I had that feeling the next day too. Try to walk as much as you can to get the gas out. I think the gas and pain meds were making me feel sick. I preferred crystal light lemonade to water after the surgery. The day after was the worst for me. You should be feeling better tomorrow. Hang in there!
  6. I checked my food logs. I had a bite of dark meat turkey and ham for thanksgiving (day 17). Then I waited a few more days and had dark meat chicken again. I was also able to eat puréed chicken breast. I limited it to an ounce. After I hit a month, I tried ground turkey and chicken breast. The chicken breast was too dry and made me sick. I try to keep my protein to 2 oz.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I lost 1 pound for week 6. I have about 800 calories a day. I tried ground beef for the first time this week and it didn’t give me any problems. I hope everyone is doing well!
  9. Hopefully your pain won’t be bad. Walk around and move your arms as much as you can afterwards to get the gas out. I had lidocaine for pain, but I asked for it to be taken away the next day because I think it was making me feel nauseous. After that I had Tylenol for a couple of days. The liquid Tylenol they had at the hospital was super nasty tasting, so I stopped the tylenol too. All the best to you on your surgery tomorrow.
  10. For pre op, I’d probably skip since covid is going around. If I was post op, I’d go ahead and go.
  11. Check with the anesthesiologist. I don’t think I would want anything extra in my mouth. I woke up when they were removing the tube and it was a bad experience. I don’t think it happens that often though, so don’t be afraid.

    Oatmeal

I make rolled oats in my instant pot and portion it out in one eighth cup servings. When I eat it, I usually mix it with a spoon of fat free Greek yogurt and a few frozen blueberries. I’m getting ready to make some more and freeze it since the portion size is so small. I started eating it at the purée/soft stage. I use Souper cubes for freezing foods in small portions.

    How spicy do you eat?

I’ve been spicing up my food more than usual. I think it makes a small quantity feel like you are eating more than you are. I’m glad I haven’t been sensitive to the spice.

    Nausea after dinner??

Yes, I had the same thing happen yesterday. I had ate a half hour before taking my vitamin capsule. The nausea started about a half hour after taking the vitamin. I’m guessing this is when the capsule dissolved. Today I took the vitamin with my food. So far so good. Yesterday I took deep breaths and the nausea passed pretty quickly.

    Pain after GS surgery

I had surgery on a Tuesday and stopped taking pain medicine on Friday. It only hurt if I put pressure on an incision and even then it hardly hurt. I walked 10 minutes most hours after surgery when I was awake to try to get the gas out.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I had my surgery on 11/9 and had my first bad experience with food yesterday. I had some roasted chicken breast and ended up throwing up. I chewed it well, but I guess like others have reported about chicken breast, it is too dry for me and didn’t move through my stomach very well. After eating, I had a feeling in my chest like the food was just sitting there and my saliva was coming back up. After about 45 minutes, I had some water and then threw up. It was a really weird feeling coming up since we don’t drink before or after eating. After that I felt better. I’ve had chicken breast before, but it was from a Chinese restaurant and was steamed, so it was very moist and tender. It didn’t bother me at all. I will for sure make sure all meat I eat from now on is very moist or with a sauce. This morning a half hour after eating, I took my first one a day vitamin capsule along with my other medications. About a half an hour later, I felt like I was going to throw up. I took some deep breaths and thankfully the feeling passed. I’m not sure if the feeling came from the new vitamin, but I’m glad I didn’t lose the medications I had just taken. I hope everyone is doing well!
  18. So sorry! Hope you are both feeling better soon.

    Spasms after WLS

I have this too on my right thigh on the top and side. I’m going to physical therapy today to see if I can get it to feel normal again. I was tested in the hospital for blood clots in my leg.

    Breakfast

My dr has you take a lansoprazole capsule with your first meal. I’ve been doing this everyday and haven’t had any problems with an upset stomach. When cleared for mushy/soft food, I had an egg with cheese for breakfast or a couple of spoons of oatmeal with a little yogurt.

Only 9 pounds almost 4 weeks post op

Try using protein water. It’s not the greatest, but will help you get your fluid and protein at the same time. Bone broth with protein powder is a good option too. When my protein is low for the day, I sometimes have a bariwise protein soup. I add some sriracha to spice it up.
  23. Just wondering what size portions you are doing. I weigh out my portions, but don’t wait between bites. Right now I usually have 2-3 oz protein and 1-2 oz veg. My calories are around 800 a day and I’m a little over a month from surgery. I’m hoping I’m doing things right and am hopeful that the sleeve will help me to not overeat.

    Protein Supplements are gross, HELP!

I’m going to donate my extra protein shakes. The only ones I currently like are the premier cafe latte and the protein soups. They didn’t bother me in the pre op and immediate post op stages, but now that I can eat food again, I hate them.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Sounds like you’re on the same pills as me. I’ve been swallowing them whole. At first I broke the gall bladder pill in half, but after the 4th week, I could swallow it whole. I have to take a lot of pills and hate it. Hopefully some of them will eventually be stopped. I’m with you on the protein shakes. I’m going to bag most of mine up soon and donate them. I think I can get my protein in with food. I’m on week 6 now. The protein soups are acceptable, but now I really hate the shakes.
