I lost 15 preop, and a total of 75 in the first 3 months.. I lost about 20 a month. I'm now 6 months post op and I've lost 122 pounds.

My gastric bypass was two years ago yesterday, and I'm happy to report that things are going well. I gained about ten pounds during maintenance, and in retrospect I think that my low weight of 132 was too thin. (I never dreamed two years ago that I would be saying those words!).
I feel like I am eating "normally," though in smaller quantities and without most of the junk I ate when I was obese. I still avoid sugar, carbs and fat, but I've gotten a bit more relaxed about indulging from time to time. I celebrated my two-year anniversary with a huge piece of cake washed down with an ice-cold Coke. (Just kidding--I ate my usual diet!)
I'm attaching a photo taken this morning to show what I look like these days. I think it's useful for those of you just starting this journey to get a glimpse of what life can be on the other side, particularly in maintenance.

I am actually having mine done this Friday. Nervous but, I am happy with my decision with this clinic. I am in Las Vegas, NV now as my fiance already had a project to do out here at the same time my surgery was scheduled anyways. But I took the option with the "out of network" benefit and paid $10,500 with my care credit card. So yea out of pocket but still I don't think it's that bad.

Great news! I am surviving on cranberry juice, broth, Protein Water and plain water. Hope you get some sleep at home.

My sleeve surgery went really well! My surgeon said it only took him about an hour. He’d told me it could be up to three. I had a hiatal hernia that he took care of. That probably explains my occasional reflux. He also took a liver biopsy because I’d been diagnosed with a fatty liver. Biopsy is Just so we can tell how much it had progressed. The worst part was waking up with shoulder/chest pain from the gas. Heating pads and walking helped. I’ve been able to slowly sip some Water and Protein water. The hospital broth and Jello was yucky and I didn’t eat them. slept horribly at the hospital though, so I’m headed to bed now. Will check in later.

I'm working with Blossom Bariatrics in Las Vegas to hopefully have surgery in Sept/Oct of this year. Like you, my work insurance does not have bariatric coverage. They are able to use my out of network surgery coverage to cover some of the cost however. I still have to pay $10,500 out of pocket.
I was also considering going with Dr. Elias Ortiz (used to be with ALM) in Tiajuana. My aunt and 3 cousins have had sleeve surgery done by Dr. Ortiz and all had nothing but great things to say about him.
It's considerably cheaper than Blossom, but right now with Covid, the thought of traveling anywhere (especially internationally) is rather scary.
I've also spoken with the University of Kansas and they have a low cost option if you are in a surrounding state. I'm in Montana which excluded me from that option or I would've gone with them for sure. Good luck!
