    I made it through!

Congratulations to you both. It’s so true our journeys are all different. TMI but I had to have a catheter just to wake up my bladder. Once I had it and my bladder was empty, I was able to go on my own. Our bodies are just weird sometimes. Happy healing wishes to all!

    Any March Surgeries?

How is everyone doing this morning? I had my sleeve surgery on Monday. Thought I would give an update this morning. First is I can only sleep about 6.5 hours in the bed. (6.5 hours is heaven for me) It just becomes uncomfortable but with little pain. I have been fortunate to not need any pain medicine at all. I have walked every time I even thought I felt a pain possibly coming on so everything you read about walking is so true. I have not been hungry at all. Not even a little bit. Yesterday, I was able to get in 45 grams of protein and 48 ounces of liquid and it was a struggle. Later last night around 9pm, I had chicken broth (not much protein) but it was different than "protein" shake so it tasted delicious to me. I am sharing my story because so many others before me shared theirs and it helped me have the courage to go through with the surgery. For the second morning in a row, I have started this day with Gatorade 2. It seems like a good base before diving into protein and liquid (even though it is a liquid). No medical reason so maybe its just better to say, I like the soothing taste in the morning, Best advice so far is follow exactly what your dr/dietician gave you as your plan. 2nd best advice is baby yourself because how the house looks or what you look like doesn't matter. This was major surgery so treat it as such. Yesterday, I reported a major face rash which did begin to go down my arms. The dr isn't 100% sure but I either am allergic to the antibiotic they gave me while in the hospital OR it could be the one shot they gave me as blood thinner. Either way, the steroids the dr called in yesterday have already cleared it up. Again, an example of how important it is to communicate with your dr with any questions. Wishing you all a great happy healing day! How is everyone else doing from this weeks surgery?

Dr thinks I’m allergic to the antibiotic they gave me. He called in a prescription for steroids and even with one dose in, I can tell the difference. Definitely call your dr. Im so glad I did.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I think because I had been in the hospital bed and then my bed, my body just needed a different position so sitting in the recliner for a bit did help. I was able to go back to sleep in my bed around 2am. I think it is okay to rotate around to since my dr wants me up walking every 4 hours. I did not find it difficult to sleep in the bed overall.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Last night at home was great. Surgery was Monday and so far the only challenge I have had was major "sleeve rash" as some have called it. I look like I have a really bad sunburn all on my face. I have a call into the dr. Lots of gassy sound & bubble sounds when you really begin to focus on protein & liquid. So far that isn't so bad. The best advice is walk, walk, and walk some more. The shower yesterday at home felt great. Overall, while nothing is easy, this has been "easy" to handle. One piece of advice is to really plan what your week home from the hospital looks like. For instance, I started this morning with Gatorade2 and then went to a protein shake with premier protein cafe latte, ice, fairlife mild and a packet of miralax. For me the Gatorade2 made it easier to begin on the shake next. Slow and sip, slow and sip. I was able to sleep in my own bed last night for 4 hrs, got up walked around, sat in recliner for an hour, walked some more and went back to my bed until 6am. Body is going to need rest so don't push anything. I for one am going to enjoy the journey. Feel free to ask any questions. I know we all have different experiences.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Well it’s been 24 hours since surgery. I’m a little sore, exhausted but resting. I just took a shower. I’ve gotten about 24oz down but it a struggle. So far no need for pain medicines. The gas pain is real but walk, walk, walk! It helps!! I’ll try to update regularly. By the way not hungry at all.

Surgery went well. Only pain has been from the gas they will you with during surgery. Walking does help a lot. I’ve been able to sip okay and hope to go home today after the dr comes by. I’ll keep everyone posted.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I am scheduled for March 1st. So excited and a bundle of nerves all at the same time.
  15. I am scheduled for surgery March 1st. Excited but really trying to understand what life is like as you prepare for surgery but also what is it like when everyone else is eating their normal meals after surgery. Any advice of any kind is appreciated. I am very excited to have the gastric sleeve surgery but I also over prepare and over analyze everything so I would love all of the knowledge you are willing to share. Thanks in advance!
  16. Oh such great advice....thank you both for taking time!!!
