  1. Please do not beat yourself up over "how much" weight you have lost...I did the same thing
    Losing very slowly so 1 year out I have lost 53lbs...
    when I really think about everything I have been thorough I am very happy with only 53lbs.
    Everyone is different. If there is ANYTHING I have learned is:
    EVERYONE is Different
    It will happen
    xoxxoox
    Thank you I appreciate it. And you're right everyone is different.

  2. I just checked and I'd lost 39.6 lbs at the three-month mark - so the same as you. And I went on to lose over 200 lbs.
    people lose at all different rates due to a myriad of factors - most of which you have little to no control over (e.g., age, gender, genetics, metabolic rate, starting BMI, whether or not you lost weight prior to surgery). The two factors you DO have control over is how closely you follow your program and your activity level. If you do well with those two, then that's all you can. If you're committed, you WILL lose the weight, whether fast or slow. I was a slow loser from the get-go, but I still ended up losing all of my excess weight.
    You are definitely right! I appreciate your kind words [emoji173]

  3. You're right! I most likely wouldn't have lost the weight if I hadn't had surgery. Now that the weather is getting nicer I am going to start on afternoon walks. I wanted to join the gym close to my house but I hate contracts and you have to sign a 12 month one. May sound like an excuse but for someone who lives paycheck to paycheck it's a legit concern haha.

  4. Tomorrow I will be 12 weeks post op gastric sleeve and I've only lost 40 lbs. I don't eat what I'm not supposed to, so I don't understand why I'm not loosing as fast. My appointment with Dr. is in April, and at the 2 week appointment he said I should be around 60lb loss by April. I will admit that exercising is my biggest struggle. I feel so frustrated

  5. Thank you for sharing. I had the sleeve on 1/15 and I am 27 pounds down, but that’s including the pre-op diet I started 1/1. I also feel like my loss is on the slower side, so you are not alone. My surgeon and nutritionist seem to think it’s ok.
    I started out with a BMI under 40, and I have heard that sometimes you lose slower if you have ‘less’ to lose. Not sure how true that is.
    Either way, the important thing is that the weight is coming off! As opposed to if we had not made any changes, it would have be the same old story, or maybe we would have even gained a few pounds!
    Keep up the good work everyone, and don’t stop!
    Thank you I appreciate it! I have to remind myself everyone is different and losses different.

  6. So my program said that I could drink the Isopure waters but my Fluid intake and wouldn't count towards my Protein goal. It seems that my program has alot of those kind of rules. For example I can only drink whey isolate Protein Shakes. I'm not able to eat anything spicy until 3 months to avoid ulcers. Just different things. I am really trying to heed their advice, but it is somewhat difficult in this learning phase. I am 5 weeks post op today. 1 more week t regular diet! Wooooo

  7. Ok everyone I have questions!!

    My program requires me to take

    * Bariatric Multivitamin

    * calcium citrate

    * Vitamin B12

    * Probiotic

    * Iron

    * Vitamin D

    Where does everyone buy their Vitamins? Specifically the Multivitamin and Calcium? ?

    Also, had anyone tried the nectar fruity flavors? What do they taste like?? I read somewhere on here that they taste like juice rather than milky Protein Shakes. Can anyone confirm this?? I am so over milky chalky Protein shakes.

  8. That happened to me too, and even now that I am on soft food diet. I find these recipes I wanna try and I get all jazzed up and make it, then a couple bites in I'm grossed out and never wanna see it again. It's slowly passing. I'm not sure the reason, but I know it's frustrated. Just keep in mind it gets easier.

  9. as others have said, 18 lbs in three weeks is great! I lost 16 lbs the first MONTH, and I started out heavier than you. As BigSue said, most of us seem to lose somewhere in the 15-25 lb range the first month. You'll always find a few who lose above or below that, but that seems to be where most of us fall. I think a lot of people come into this with expectations of losing a lot more the first month, and I think that's probably because of shows like "My 600 lb Life". But you have to remember that those people have MUCH higher BMI's than the average WLS patient. And generally speaking, the more you weigh, the faster you tend to lose - at least at first.

    You're right. I always have Dr. Now in the back of my head going "you could've easily lost 30 pounds this munth [emoji23][emoji23]

  10. Hi there!
    Check out some bariatric blogs or Youtube for inspiration. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw lack of tomatoes would cause someone to run out of food options ... then I remembered it's because I live in a terrible climate where tomatoes aren't as delicious as I bet they are where you live [emoji6]
    However, in the grand scheme of things, it's something you can definitely work around.
    In terms of fluids, I'd really try changing 'trying' to 'doing'. Dehydration is terrible. Best of luck!

    I live in Texas and tomatoes are a staple in our Mexican household so it's been a little challenging. I am definitely getting closer to meeting my Water goal each day

  11. You lost 18 pounds in 20 days... how is that slow? I lost 23 pounds the first month but I was 321 on my surgery day and had a different surgery. I lost 19 pounds the second month and 21 the third. You're doing good on the weight loss front so don't stress about it. You are losing at a good pace.
    If you're having issues with Water try something with electrolytes like Powerade zero or gatorade zero or propel water. Or, even Protein2o as it has 20 grams of Protein and tastes like Hint water.
    To help with the bathroom issues add some Miralax or something to help loosen things up. But... you need to hydrate yourself to help it along. Maybe suck on some sugar free popsicles if drinking is too difficult.
    As to the food front... I don't know what to say because my program allows avocado, Tomato sauce, salsa, etc. so I have no suggestions based on what I ate because a lot of things around that time either had avocado or tomato sauce...
    The dietitian said the reason no spicy or acidic foods are allowed in the vegetable is to prevent an ulcer from forming. I do drink the Gatorade zero and water but am never able to meet the 64oz goal. I bought some Isopure Protein Powder that's supposed to make a fruity drink and i hated it, it's so sour! But I'm trying

  12. You've lost 18 pounds in 3 weeks? That is very good and well within the range of what you should expect. Most people lose 15-25 pounds in the first month, and you are already there. Keep up the good work and be patient!
    Are you taking Miralax or anything else for the constipation? You definitely want to head that off ASAP. Increasing your Water intake should also help.
    Are you not allowed to eat salsa, avocado, or Tomato sauce ever, or just for a certain period of time in the beginning? There are plenty of foods you can still eat, though. You should be able to eat eggs, cottage cheese, ground meats, canned tuna or chicken (Starkist makes a variety of flavored ones), canned or boiled fruits and vegetables, hummus, Beans, Laughing Cow cheese... You also still have your purees: yogurt, sugar-free pudding, unsweetened applesauce, Soups, Protein oatmeal, etc.

    I guess looking at it that way you're right it is alot. They said I can't eat those things right now, I will be on soft foods for 6 weeks [emoji15] I just kind of want a hot meal, that's not fish [emoji28] but all in due time I suppose.

  13. Hey ya'll!

    I had VSG on 12/29 and I'm 3 weeks post op. I am having a couple issues maybe some of you have experienced the same thing.

    First: I feel my weight loss is going very slow. My doctor said last week I'm doing good and am where I should be, but I thought I'd be losing more.

    (HW: 329, SW: 315, CW: 297)

    Second: I started soft foods last Tuesday and I have not pooped in over a week! I will say this...my Protein and Water intake is SHITTY and is no where it should be.

    Third: My program doesn't allow me to have salsa, avacado, Tomato sauce, so it's bee hard to find things to eat.

    Any advice is appreciated! [emoji173]

    P.S- I miss wings, popcorn, and coke [emoji31]
